Hear me out - I know they're ridiculous looking to some. But I play golf in the mountains and can get 4 seasons in one day. If I know we're taking a cart, I'll load up the staff bag with rain gear, snacks, plenty of water and, if its wet (and this is where a staff bag outshines every other bag out there) dry shoes, socks, extra towels and even a spare umbrella. I find that being really prepared can make a less than stellar day, far more enjoyable. Anybody else?

They're ridiculous and don't you dare ever make a caddy carry one. They'll be wanting to dump it in the first creek they see. Especially if your game does not match. In my decade as a caddy, I had two guys with these bags at the club. One was a decent golfer but would only flat rate (never tipped) and the other was a max 36 handicap, so sloughing his bag around was a chore and couldn't forecaddy to the normal spots because of all his topped/sliced tee shots.

1000% agree with you here. I should have added the caveat that, when I travel - it stays home. Unless you're paying the guy a percentage of your winnings, you don't bring anything but an appropriate carry bag. I'm talking about a cart situation, where you don't have to consider the carts well-being.

There wasn't an option for owning more than one.  😂

I have two staff bags and I did use both on the course, but they always rode on a cart.  Now they sit in my hitting bay holding clubs.

The Wilson Staff Deep Red bag was provided by the pro at my old course and he put my name on it.  I bought the MacGregor Tourney bag nearly new for $50.  I can still fill the bag with a complete set of MacGregor clubs... except for a putter.

I started back using one of my old mini staff bags from my old mini tour days. I am not able to walk so I ride all the time. I still do not carry a lot of stuff but it is very user friendly for me. If I was able to walk I would use either my Jones or Vagabond bag. LOL what is funny and I do not care it is a Titleist and right now I do not have one Titleist club in it just TM Cally and Cleveland. Do not play Titleist balls either but play Srixon and even for now have a older Srixon towel on it. But it is easy to get clubs in and out with no hang up. The Vagabond is made for walking only and I would not dream of putting it on a cart because of durability. The Jones is older and has rode a lot in the last 3 years and is showing wear and tear. The old Titleist is rugged and all our bag drop guys will tell you it is lighter than most cart bags and not as bulky either. But I figured why not use it when my Jones was getting old. And no I would not be a big Pecker head and expect a caddy to carry it. In fact 5 years ago when we played Harbortown and used caddies I used the Vagabond which I have modified with a big padded strap. My caddy was impressed

If I had that bag I'd carry it (or put it on a cart) everywhere I went too.

It might be a bit of an eye roller, but the ease of clubs in and out is a real thing. I'm a 6'5" baby ogre and I play Midsize MCC's with 3 wraps under them. I love my Vessel Lux Lite, but I have to get a bit rammy sometimes to stuff a wedge back in there. If I had the jumbo Bryson grips, I wouldn't know how to get them in there.

I just received the Titleist Mid-Staff from my kids for my birthday.  It is a thing of beauty.  I used to carry (yes, I carry my own bag DoP 😉 ... would never expect anyone to carry it for me) a Nike Staff many moons ago. But it was liberated from the trunk of my car along with my MP33's while I was having dinner at the course I just finished playing.  I also have a stand bag. But honestly, the mid staff feels better in my shoulder and better weight distribution as I walk down the fairway.  I'm sure I get eye rolls... don't care.  🙂

Another reason I started using mine again was because the SS grip on my Scotty hangs up in the Jones plus I carry my Skilz Ball warm up club too. And yeah since my last post I put my Scotty back in so I do have ONE Titleist club in the bag

Hey, congratulations on your first MGS Forum post and I quite agree with that dilemma, clubs or bag, unless there is some good quality experienced equipment of both kinds that can be found (thinking Stacked Golf YouTube channel kind of finds).  Welcome in and looking forward to seeing many more of your posts in the multitude of threads throughout the Forum ⛳

I own 2 cart bags, a pittsburgh penguins bag, and a hotz 4.5 that I just got. And as far as having a staff bag so you can carry extra shoes and rain gear, if it's raining I'm not playing, they don't pay me enough to play in the rain, oh wait, that's right I have to pay them. I play golf to have fun, and playing in the rain is not fun.

I will admit.. I had to "re-organize" my trunk space to make sure it had room for the staffer as I travel back and forth to the course. haha.

I use an electric walk behind golf cart. So a little weight doesn't bother me. The vast number of "cart" bags are designed for riding...not walking carts. Small staff bags work much better.

YOU may not be bothered, but the motor in your electric bag is like.... "Dude... REALLY??? "  haha.  just kidding.  As I said... it is only a pound or two heavier anyway... the problem comes with overfilling the larger pouches.  When I have to look at the year on the cards in my side pouch.,.. it is time to clean it out.  LOL.

Someone I know purchased a house that formerly belonged to an embezzler who went to prison.  They gave me a Titleist staff bag with some clubs that was left in the house.  I kept extra clubs in the bag until my wife started throwing out things when we were preparing to move.  The staff bag ended up in the garbage.  At least she knew better to not throw out my carry bag which I actually used.

I have a pristine Titleist staff bag i picked up for $25 last year in the basement. And same goes for WI, the weather changes every 5 minutes in spring and fall. If we are taking a cart, I use it on occasion. If I ever have the chance to use a caddie, I ALWAYS used my stand bag and make damn sure to clear out as much weight as possible. No need for 3 bug sprays, 2 bottles of water and an extra dozen ProVs.

Staff bags hold everything from shoes to extra clothes.  I ad never care it but for a guy that takes a cart 75% of the time it’s awesome.   It also keeps your cars trunk clean

... I have owned 3 from when I was on Staff with Tommy Armour, Wilson and Titleist. I only used them when teaching and never when playing. I gave away my Tommy Armour and Wilson bags but keep the Titleist from the 1990's for holding clubs:

While I’ll admit they are cool, and have been tempted to get one on the bay, my days of schlepping the full leather ones for the egocentric hackers in the ‘70s would relegate it to a displayed putter bag if I got one.

Chasing my ball around the cow field, trying to avoid the “ruff.”
