I played a round Friday afternoon after working from home a half day.

Went to Stony Creek Metropark Golf Course here, it is a very nice, "Up North Michigan" feeling layout with narrow tree lined fairways and greens which are undulating and not too flat.

Earlier in the week, I spent a few hours at the range working on irons, distance control, trajectory, and shot shape.

I was paired up with a 39 year old man named Mike who also had the day off, he is a Cardiac RN at a hospital here, and hit the ball a mile, not always straight, but a lot longer than I did.

Maybe age has something to do with it? 🤔

Anyways, the practice at the range paid dividends, as I had my lowest round this year, and 3 natural birdies in the same round.

Carded a 72 on a 6500 yard layout, so I will take that any day of the year!  😀

4th hole - Par 3 playing 174 to the flag - smooth 5 iron and made the putt. These are the first two pictures.

9th hole - 377 yard Par 4 - had 128 to the flag - 9 iron and made the putt. Third picture.

11th hole - Par 3 playing 142 to the flag - 8 iron and made the putt. Last picture.

Lools like younhad a great round. It's an amazing feeling to hit the ball so close to the pin. Congrats on the round 👏 👏👏👏 (golf clap).

Normally when I get home from a round of golf I put my scorecard on my desk and input my score hole by hole into the GHIN system.  Yesterday, I had to rush to prepare for the next day' golf tournament I run each month for our group that supports junior golf in the Keys.  Somehow, I forgot to take the scorecard from my back pocket and my shorts ended up in the washer.  As a result, I don't have all the details of the round and had to text my playing buddies for my score.

From memory, I was a bit inconsistent.  I started par, double, par, double.  I did have a nice natural birdie on 16 (our last par 3).  Other than that, nothing really stood out.

I guess it's safe to say, my washer ate my scorecard!

Different round from yesterday. Felt great out there. A little faster than the 5 hour round yesterday

When my wife asked if I wanted to leave Maine and move to where she grew up, I couldn't say no to Pinehurst, NC. I honestly don't spend much money on golf equipment, but I'm constantly reading reviews in case I ever get ready to buy

I swing left handed and have been the State of Maine Left Hander's champion since 1997, the last year they held the tournament. I'm currently a 7.1 handicap. Trying to get lower, but my gut gets in the way.

Played in my first Grint tournament on a whim. Finished 4th in my flight (out of 9), definitely had a few bad holes but not disappointed having never played the course before.

I think the "gross strokes over/under par" field should be 15, so your 14 strokes with a course handicap will calculate out to the "Net Score to Par" of 1 (rather than -13).  :).

You can click on the three dots in the upper right of your post, to edit your post and correct - or let me know if you would like some help.

thanks Greg.

Hey I think you’ve got a typo in here, you said 1 strokes over under instead of likely 15 or 16 depending on the course par according to your gross score , placing you in first place

Tough conditions - heavy rain last night, CPO and heat index of 100* but i wonder if it was higher on the wet fairways as the humidity was extremely high under direct sun.  Played the par 37 front 9 with a 38 including 4 pars and 2 natural birdies.  Back 9 I played ok with a 42 (par 35) but the easiest hole (par 5) ate my lunch with a poor tee shot and 2 bad shots after that, for an 8.  I rarely hit 2 bad shots in a row, let alone 3. I carded an 8 but GHIN adjusted it to a 7 (GHIN adjusted round was a 79).

Hit a lot of really good shots, and only 29 putts (no 3 putts).

It looks like the course is a par 72.  If your gross score was 87, then your gross strokes over par would be 15, not 1.  If it was 1, your course would be a par 86. Correct @GolfSpy TCB?

I had a “Eureka” moment today. Literally, I used the Eureka golf swing by Steve Johnson on YouTube. Basically, it is normal address position with the shoulders but open the feet up, lead foot flared and swing from the inside out. I’ve tried it before but didn’t have great results. Today I did have great results.
IMG_1386.jpeg.c8f180cef6458b4db7ae5a0396496f3d.jpeg

I have an Apple Watch and Golf Shots app so I can use the swing ID. It tells me a lot of info about my swing but mainly hand path. I have developed a major out to in swing. It’s killing my driver.

Today, I focused on this and had astonishing results. I went from a 221 average to 256 average today. 79% fairways and a long drive of 277. 277 yard Driver- 185 yard 5iron and 15’ putt equaled an eagle.
IMG_4588.jpeg.5c86d2edf0bd9083837578e92f7b247a.jpeg

The short game stats are misleading because I failed to get up and down a couple of times but in reality I was blocked out and didn’t even have a shot at the green. However, the biggest difference was the driver. Today was by far my best driver day and the stats show it.
IMG_1388.jpeg.4426e0c6c06210aabffec7a5c73168e7.jpeg

This is my overall strokes gained. I’ve had some really low scores thrown in the mix, but they were all short game and putting. Today, I hit all the par 3’s and 5’s in regulation and actually had a mediocre day, for me, with short game and putter.

MUCH better day than yesterday.  I tried to keep myself from getting into "positions" in the back swing, and just setup then tried to go "brain dead" haha.  Worked much better - actually started hitting the middle of the club face again.  I had one drive that I started right, but caught the hardest spot on the course and gave me a great bounce, and roll out.  298.  I averaged 250 on my other measured drives today... so that tells you how fortuitous that bounce was 🙂

Second round with the L.A.B. DF 2.1 with the ultra upright shaft (converted broomstick putter to 34").  I struggled a little with it yesterday - but decided to go left and low today and everything just SQUARED UP nicely.  Putter was really working today... several nice par saves, even more nice lag putts for par kick-ins, and made one birdie - about 15 feet left to right breaker.  I also had a chip in birdie.

Enjoyable round that I played mostly by myself.  I caught up to the new Pro Shop Assistant on the last few holes, and played in with him.  I finished my round in 2:15... which was a bonus on a 103* day.

Up and down round today… I played the par 5s -2 and missed a ton of putts around the edge. Happy to have some continued progress with my driver and 3 wood though!

Today was the tale of 2 9's. I've included the full Arccos score card because I started +8 through 8, then I finished out with 10 par's. Simply put, I found A LOT more greens and fairways.

Shorter course, it was feast or famine off the tee. Nearly drive the green on one hole them hit a 50 yard snap hook on the next. Short game and putting was strong though and bailed me out.

Great round today with @Itzpiiz. Hotter than hell, 35° but was great. Everything fired pretty good today, and was hitting it long. Hit into the group ahead of us 3 times.... One hitting my hybrid 265 to the green in 2, and on the back I drove 2 greens back to back with back to back birdies. Had 4 long drives today, 346, 353, 353, and 376. The driver was bombing, had a hilarious finish to the round. Driver into the trees, had an opening but smacked the tree with my 6 iron and shot it back past the adjacent hole, hit my 52 long into the bunker, skull the bunker 20 yards out into the fairway and drain my par chip!!!!! Came in with a 75. Today went pretty great. I've added one photo of a drive to the green
