Shlax
Difficult round this morning, to say the least… I was pumped all week for my only round of the year at a difficult links course and was worried that my game off the tee would be problematic. Turns out it was a perfectly decent outing for my driver but WOW did it quickly become complicated with irons and wedges after! Poor poor poor strikes followed one another. It was like my mind and body were out of sync. I chunked multiple tee shots on par 3s, topped some straight forward shots from the fairway, I hit every ditch/penalty area that I could and managed to log a shocking 4-putt on the par 3 8th after hitting my tee shot not too far away from the pin… The 4th putt was still long enough that I could have very well missed it. My handicap index had steadily been reaching record lows in the last two months so I kind of expected a blowout round at some point. Hopefully, I’m good for another 15 rounds or at least until the end of the season without that sort of performance again. 43 (+7) & 50 (+14) for 93 (+21) FIR: 2/6 & 2/7 for 4/13 GIR: 4/9 & 3/9 for 7/18 Putts: 18 (1 4-putt) & 17 (1 3-putt) for 35 Penalties: 2 & 4 for 6 Edited September 17, 2023 by Shlax Typos cksurfdude, fixyurdivot, JerryB and 5 others 8 Quote D: Rogue ST Max LS 9° / Rogue White 130 MSI 70X 3W: Sim Max 15° / Ventus Blue FW 6S 3H: TSi3 20° / True Temper Smoke Black RDX 6.0 80HYB 4i-PW: 01CB / Tour 130X 2023 tester 52°-56°-60°: Milled Grind 2 / True Temper S200 P: DFX 2-ball Ball: Q-Star Tour & Z-Star and TP5 & TP5x Grips: D-3W: Z-Grip Cord / 3H-PW: Crossline 360 / Wedges: Genesis Crossline Cord Bag: Anyday Ronin 14 2024 tester Stat tracking: X5
Popular Post Kenny B
Played Saturday at the other course in town that I played last Monday; our course was full. Because there are tournaments all over town, it was hard to get a tee time. We got the first time after the tournament which was supposed to be 2:03pm. The tournament start was delayed and they didn't finish until 2:50pm. We were waiting on the #1 tee as the last group went through. It starts getting dark around 6:45pm. We played in 3 hours and 20 minutes finishing up at 6:15pm. I shot 81 with 4 doubles and a birdie on #1. Doubles came on holes where I hit into the desert. Today we had an early tee time at our home course; first time since the aeration. Greens were in really great shape but extremely slow compared to normal. I had a hard time adjusting and getting the ball to the hole; left several birdie/par putts short. Shot 43/36 for an interesting 79 that included one double and back2back birdies on 15 and 16 with finishing pars on 17 and 18. After a rough start on the front nine and bogeys on 10 and 11, I played the remaining holes pretty well. fixyurdivot, sirchunksalot, rkj427 and 7 others 10 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

My best scores come when I don't have a blowup hole and my short game is better than usual. It happens. I've played a lot of rounds with Bill and he has always had the potential; just had a few loose shots here and there. Now it seems like he is getting that under control and short putts seem to be problematic. However, the many competitive rounds he is currently playing should begin to take that pressure off his stroke. My wife just informed me that I have a ball in a display case (along with my 3 HIO balls) where I shot 69 on the Arnold Palmer course at the Wildfire GC- JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort in Phoenix. I'd forgot about that; it was many years ago and I was a 16 hcp (or so)... purely an accident!! Since it was before I joined the MGS Forum, I don't want to count that anyway. sirchunksalot, ejgaudette, rkj427 and 3 others 6 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Josh Parker
Just had one of the worst rounds I have played in I don't know how long. Nothing worked consistently. I managed to birdie one hole and on 18 finally figured out what I was doing... Leaning back! I set a second ball down and immediately my flight was back to being great, slight draw and pin high to about 8 feet. This game can drive you crazy at times and then all of a sudden you catch what you are doing wrong and it hooks you right back in. Popular Post BallsLeon
Played 18 today, at Overland Park Golf Course, playing the north and south courses. Course is in pretty rough shape tbh because of maintenance, but they're discounting their already reasonable rate. They've put down large sections of new sod, and all the bunkers are in the process of being renovated. Thankfully, I didn't play into these areas too much. Course was pretty quiet since I teed off during the Chiefs game (life-hack). Managed to put together another decent day for me, breaking 100 again. That being said, I left a lot on the plate today, especially with an eye-watering 42 putts. sirchunksalot, fixyurdivot, JerryB and 7 others 10 Quote Driver : Rogue ST Max LS, 10.5° loft, MCA TENSEI AV White 65g, Stiff flex (45") 3-Wood: Rogue ST LS, 15° loft, MCA TENSEI AV Blue 65g, Reg flex (42.25", tipped 0.5") 3-Utility: 699 Pro V2 Utility Satin, 18° loft, HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 80g, 6.0 flex Irons: T200 6i-GW, 27°-48° lofts, Nippon Modus3 120g, Stiff flex (+0.5”, 1° upright) Wedges: Indi FLX S-Grind, 52°/56°/60° lofts, Dynamic Gold Spinner 115g, Wedge flex Putter: King Vintage Sport 60, SteelFiber P125 shaft (34"), Quad Tour Taper grip Bag: Ultralight Pro, Ski Patrol/Black Push Cart: Nitron, Black/Red Rangefinder: Bushnell Tour V5 Shift 2023 MGS Forum Review: Sugar Golf Balls (Final Review Posted) 2023 MGS Forum Review: Sycamore 009 Mini Putter (Final Review Posted) 2024 Unofficial Review: The "Putting Thing" by WhyGolf -TJ

taylorjonasher
Played 9 yesterday morning at Hunter's Ridge in Marion, IA. Walked away with a 42 after a mini-meltdown on Par 3 hole 8 by absolutely obliterating a 7 iron hook into a tree 40 yards offline that somehow bounced back and buried into the front lip of the greenside bunker. After a miraculous 60 degree made it to the green, I four putted to make triple **fist pump**. I chipped in from 30 yards on hole 7 for birdie, so I should have known I was due for an implosion! Popular Post MrBandit
Game is really shaping up.. which is great as winter is coming.. Another good tournament, with a 38/39 for a nice 77 and a 4 shot win. Biggest thing i took away is iron play was much sharper, GIR are now trending in correct direction. 61% , the FIR was only 35%, those damn trees getting in the way. Funny thing was that I hit good shots caught some trees and drop down or near the fairway, so I missed all FW in the front, yet in the back I only missed 2. My last 9 scores have shown pretty decent consistency, this is by far the best stretch of golf I have played in long time if not ever. Short Game Practice of chipping and putting has paid off for consistency. But the slight swing change has made all of the difference. Change my GIR from a steady 31% to now in the 60%. Am sure it would be better if I didn't dislike the range that much and spent more time there. I Only go 1 time month and actually hit balls. I get bored after 25 balls. I shot a 105 last week for match play. Worst round I have played since probably my first one of the year way back in April. I was on the very high end of that last week consistent play has been a challenge since the end of the Cobra challenge for me. During the challenge when I was playing 36 holes a week, I saw my scores come down to the low 90s consitently and broke 90 once. Summer got so busy the second half that some weeks I was lucky to get my weekly 9 hole league in. This week is working out to play quite a bit. Getting on after work with my oldest and we are just gonna play as many holes as we can until about 7 (5:20 tee time), playing 9 Friday morning since I will be off work and my youngest in tow tagging along, possibly another evening "practice" round just playing a handful of holes with both boys as SWMBO is going to a concert, then an 18 hole round Saturday morning most likely with a friend for the match play challenge! cnosil, sirchunksalot, fixyurdivot and 5 others 8 Quote Driver: DARKSPEED X 9* Fujikura Ventus TR Blue 6X (Currently Testing) Fairways: Aerojet Max 3W & 7W MCA Kai'Li White 60 Stiff Hybrid: King TEC 3H MCA MMT 85g Stiff Irons: Aerojet 6-GW KBS $-taper Lite Stiff Wedges: Snakebite Black 52/56/60 Hi-Rev 2.0 Black Stiff Putter: Super Select Newport 2.0 Ball: Tour X & ProV1x #LeftyGang Cobra 50th Anniversary Member Special Challenge (link here) Unofficial FootJoy Hyperflex BOA 2023 Review Unofficial Flightscope Mevo Review

Popular Post Tom the Golf Nut
I’ve been on a role lately. But all good things came to an end on Sunday. I wanted to take the 6, 7, and 8 irons out of the bag and put my Sub 70 699. Pro’s back in. Monday 70, Friday, 70, Sunday was one over for the front with one bird and two bogies. Back 9 no birdies but I had a double and bogeyed 4 holes for a 79. All the bad holes came from the approach with the 6, 7, or 8. The three irons are in time out and the Sub 70’s are in the bag for a round. Got to figure it out for next weeks out of state travel rounds. Not to mention getting a solid round in for the match play.
