Thank T-Squared and MGS Moderators for this awesome opportunity!

Who Is Peter Lacasse?

As I approach the penultimate magic age for retirement in June (63) I am understanding my likes and dislikes as they become more obvious. Though they have changed mostly over the past 15 – 20 years, I feel that I avoid or completely stay away from my dislikes. I enjoy being with my wife, my family, friends, reading, golf, gardening, and making food. I am a trained Chef (Johnson and Wales 1981) working in and around the Boston area as an Executive Chef for 8 years. After 32 years as a Culinary Arts Teacher / Track and Field Coach and whatever coach the children needed me to be. I retired from teaching and coaching in June 2020. I am back coaching spring track the past two years and plan to continue.

I was born in Massachusetts and still live here. My wife of almost 40 years Kelly, totally out of my league, is a major contributor in who I am and keeping me focused on what is important. We bought our first house in Bellingham over 35 years ago and still love it here “HOME”, where we raised our 4 adult children, Candice 39, Mark 35, Jason 31 and Sean 29. Three are married with children, 9 grandchildren.

I have played golf since age 16, mostly playing 2-5 times a year for as much fun as a competitor can have only playing 2-5 times a year! A 105 average (low 93 Lucky day) and a high of 132 with an eagle from 165. Over the past 5 years I have played more often, and since 2020, have taken a more competitive approach, playing 20-27 rounds a year (once a week). Overall, my average score now is 96 (20 index) with a low of 85 (broke 90 7 times in the past 3 years 5 in 23 and 1 this year). I do play my best at Maplegate, my home course, until next year when it becomes a solar farm UGH!

Each year I try to play 1-2 great courses in New England with my son Mark, and brothers in law (Mark’s and my punch list courses).  Last year we played the Ranch in Westfield and Sunday River in ME. The plan is to play Belgrade Lakes this year.

My driving and Iron play has gotten so much better over the last 4 years, wedge play last year and hope to trim some putting strokes this year. I attribute my better play to playing more golf and confidence in the equipment I use. That is why I am so excited to test the T-Squared T-s912 Mid-Mallet Tour. I like the look of black clubs, so I am going with an all-black head, Hosel, shaft and oversized black grip. Because I am so inconsistent with my putting stroke my hope is that the T-squared will help forgive the miss hits, giving a more consistent roll. I am also looking for a better feel and balance than my Gamer putter.

 LETTTTS GOOOOOO!

FINAL REVIEW: TS-912 TOUR 8/1/24

First Impressions:

19/20

My first impression when taking the T-S912 mid-mallet tour putter out of the box was that it felt heavy. Though only 3 oz. more than my Gamer blade it seemed substantially heaver. The head itself is a .5" shorter than my gamer and the shaft is 2" shorter (on purpose because I choked up on the 35" shaft), so I was  surprised at noticing the weight difference. the plumbers neck is also twice as long.

Boxopening131.jpg.c4726860670b74b3629a0cb5be377c4b.jpg Boxopening101.jpg.38a538c9f6d0b1df8d568bf6de8e4087.jpg

My next thought was how "HOT" the all black looked! In addition the single line guide looked like it was closer to the hosel, not centered when lining up on the ball, and wasn't sure how that would work for me. The Cover is awesome! Buffalo Plaid and the soft plush interior has a powerful magnet to keep it on.

 Boxopening11a.jpg.60a5adc5f9a8ceb74722c544859ac1d5.jpgBoxopening161.jpg.86ede3396818fb980d400300eea60dcb.jpg

Instead of going to a practice green I went cold turkey and put it in my bag and removed the Top-Flite blade. I felt that to get a true impression, just playing was the way to go! My first round went well. 33 putts total (my previous 4 rounds were all 38-41). Five 1 putts and two 3putts. The ball seemed to roll well off the face with really good distance control. Only missed one 5' or less and drained a 12'.

5feet1.jpg.178493eef9ec31a1e644675b8154edf5.jpg12putt1.jpg.a48f0571049c1f7507ddc2c45107b911.jpg

Though my initial thought of the offset alignment really wasn't an issue after the first couple of putts, and the extra head weight seems to help me with the control of the putting plane and tendency to pull or push.

Right now, I love the look, all matte black with soft edges, though the RED grip would look awesome also! I have played two rounds with different people; they all loved the look are interested in giving it a try.

Aesthetics: 10/10

The T-Squared TS-912 is visually well put together. With the many options available I went with ALL Black, head, shaft, long plumbers neck and grip. I love the matt finish and the soft edges. The white contrast writing is readable but not overbearing. The Buffalo logo is spot on with the “CRAFTED IN THE USA” theme. A couple golf buddies said it is a sexy putter! The weight and overall feel give the impression of craftsmanship at its best. The head cover is just another example of attention to detail. Leather, well sawn, plush soft interior with a strong magnet to keep it closed around the club and the Buffalo Plaid has caught everyone’s eye.

thumbnail(8)1.jpg.c99b71cef9a38457d605fa9e6fbfce6f.jpg thumbnail(6)1.jpg.5be55ba59b8a16f790cbf5be2f390776.jpgthumbnail(8)1.jpg.c99b71cef9a38457d605fa9e6fbfce6f.jpg

At first the head weight of the TS-912 caught me by surprise, but I soon found out that it seemed to smooth out my stroke with less effort. The club feels soft and consistent across the face. Even slight miss hits feel and sound like sweet contact and react off the face in a similar way. Face contact sounds like a muted click, but not offensive and helps me to know that there was good contact.

The Numbers: (9/10)

I find the T-Squared putter to be accurate, giving me the ability, in most instances to place the ball where I want. My usual aim is to a spot on the green and use it as my line. With my Gamer I tend to push or pull often especially on shorter putts making me struggle putting the ball to a spot. The long plumbers neck and face balance helps to keep the contact area square for more consistent control. It definitely is more forgiving when not dead on the contact line. Toe and heel contacts do have a straighter roll than I would expect, though toe hits lose some distance, and slightly missed contact resemble perfect hits in line and speed. The TS-912 mid mallet tour is definitely easier to gauge and control speeds with slight differences in pace.

I always have a hard time going to a course and just practice putting. I find it difficult to simulate true game situations. So my numbers are comparing game results with the Gamer and the TS-912. 7 consecutive rounds for each putter. To me the results are pretty telling.

image.png.62c725f336f323fd7e6acd2555d613a8.png

On-Course (19/20)

The overall feel of the putter is tremendous. The feeling of balance and stability has been really helpful to me on the course, especially on pressure putts inside 8’. My confidence in those shorter putts really translate into a better stroke increasing my chance of making them. I have had very few terrible misses from that distance and far less than my Gamer. I also find that 20’ -30+’ putts have been much better because of the greater distance control with the perimeter weight keeping the face square for more consistent sweet contact. The extra head weight lends to better pace control so not to over swing when needing more speed on longer putts.

On one day in particular, at Pointe sebago, my nephew videoed my putts from various distances, and I drained some really nice putts from 8’, 12’ and18’, while leaving some longer putts tap in close.

1 putt for par

Just missed right 2' by for 2 putt bogie

When this test came up I had never heard of T-Squared putters. Since the testing has started I have been impressed with the overall construction and playability of the TS-912 tour. The overall performance has been better than I had hoped for, leaving fewer putts outside the cup.

The Good, The Bad, The in between (19/20)

In the beginning the slightly off-center sight line was different and hard to line up. I always think CENTER when addressing a ball. Once I trusted the white line results started to happen. The company seems interested in customer service as it was nice to receive a thank you letter, and care package of tees/ball markers with the club. It was also cool to have a representative comment on our posts along with reactions during the test. It is so nice to see a small, direct to consumer company, that makes quality clubs and a bonus of “MADE in the USA”.

I am not an equipment junkie and was not familiar with all the options to choose from in putters. It would have been helpful for a basic fitting questionnaire to guide customers to appropriate custom builds, so you need to do your homework before building. I am glad that I spent a couple hours testing various putters and styles before ordering. The T-Square site was helpful in explaining the technology they put into the club and the customization and design choices are great.

Play it or Trade it? (20/20)

I had a plan to look at putters this summer because the Gamer was just not doing what I wanted. I needed to give too much effort for long putts and I pushed and pulled often on shorter ones. In the past I would never spend $450.00 on a putter, or any club for that matter, for two reasons. One couldn't afford it and justify the cost.  After testing many putters, I found that similar milled putters are in that same price range, so it is not overpriced, but would really have to consider it now because of the difference it had made and is truly worth it.

This putter would fit any type of golfer but anyone who struggles with control and pace would benefit from using it.

I feel the 912 Tour has really helped to make me a more confident and better putter. I don’t play in big money tournaments, but I will definitely be using it in the yearly Casco Fiasco 2 day (sometimes 3) Ryder Cup tourney Mass holes’ vs Connecticut at Point Sebago in ME. Needless to say that it is staying in the bag for the foreseen future.

Conclusion:

. I feel that the TS-912 mid mallet tour helps me with a smoother stroke, needing a less aggressive motion on longer putts. I find the T-Squared putter to be accurate, giving me the ability, in most instances to place the ball where I want. The overall feel of the putter is tremendous. The feeling of balance and stability has been really helpful to me on the course, especially on pressure putts inside 8’.

When matching 14 rounds between TS-912 tour 7 and gamer 7, my overall average putts dropped from 37 to 34.28. In addition, over those rounds I had 3 more 1 putts, but the biggest difference was 9 less 3putts and 4 less 4 putts. This demonstrates that there are far fewer bad attempts.

This putter would fit any type of golfer but anyone who struggles with control and pace would benefit from using it. Though the cost is high it definitely isn’t overpriced

At the beginning of the test my index was 20.4 and right now it is 17.4, a direct correlation with drop in putts per 18.

The T-Squared TS-912 Tour is a sexy putter that is user friendly and has put me in a better mental putting place!

Thank you T-Squared and MGS

Final Score: (95/100)

Hello all! I am super happy to be selected to test T Squared Putters and would like to thank them, as well as MyGolfSpy for the opportunity.

bhsunset.jpg.9b4cb1c44c0b250e82bac6acb523e38f.jpg

I have lived in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan, Canada most of my life.  We call it God's country.  In the middle of summer you can golf from 5am, to 10pm at night.  And have around 20 mint courses within' 1-1/2 hours.  In Sask we actually have the most courses per capita in the world!!

I started golfing very young, and golfed up till I was around 15 when I discovered girls, and booze.  Twenty years later I bought my first set of clubs.  But it wasn't until I was around 36 before I really took it seriously.  Now I golf almost daily out on the course or on my simulator in my house.  FYI I'm 49 turning 50 in June.

Now I go on multiple golf trips a year, and try golf as many of the beautiful courses my province has to offer.  With at least one trip to Palm Springs every winter.  Some pictures of some of my favorite courses which may be part of the test.

So I will be testing the TS-912 (TOUR) Balance face, with the Flat Cat Solutions (weighted) grip.  I putt left hand low, and my strategy on my long game is to go for everything.  So hopefully am getting more putts in, in a round.  Last year was my best year ever, and hope to continue that to this year.

I rarely 3 putt, but when I do it's usually more than once in the round.  Which is usually due to distance control. I have the ability to roll the ball straight with a line on my ball.  What I'm looking for is making more 10' putts, confidence on longer putts to leave it close, and hopefully less 3 putts.  I plan on comparing this with my Evnroll ER2 which has been fairly good to me.  I have taken Aimpoint express so I know how to read greens fairly well.

I generally go to the range at lunch with 2 days on the practice green, where I will do lots of the comparisons.  I also golf quite a bit on my sim, so I will be testing straightness and speed on there potentially.  But mostly will be on course, as I said I play almost daily.

What I know about this product is basically the MyGolfSpy most wanted where this putter made 3rd place, so I'm expecting it to be a premiere putter in my bag for the future.

For it to make it into my bag permanently, it will have to outperform the ER2 from around 10' as I have that putt lots during a round.  This could be exactly what I need!  We will see.

pro-9C6mZPVH.jpeg.d5984051dce3e03cb24f8ca616d29ec7.jpeg

I did my un boxing, and found a letter from T-Squared, some tee's and ball marks.  It was packaged great.  Took me a little top get into the box.

Seeing the putter for the first time was exciting.  When I picked it up, the first thing I noticed was the weight.  It was substantially heavier than my Evnroll ER2.  I took off the Black Buffalo headcover, and was instantly in awe.  What a beautiful putter!

image.png.01b92f3c724f9286eb278067d541804b.pngimage.png.dd65b8879ad3b34185c0cf8576ca9184.png

I will be testing the TS-912 in matte silver with red paint fill, a black backplate, and a black sightline.  I got the toe hang for balance with the short plumbers neck in black, as well as a black shaft at 34".  The club lie is 70 degrees and the club loft is 4 degrees.

For the grip it is an absolutely beautiful Flat Cat Solutions (Weighted).  I got weighted to counter balance it a bit as the head is heavier than my ER2.  It feels right, so far.

image.png.c3e6439e2a0b2ec1c9e627c2b69ea619.pngimage.png.7232923549d02eb0919f417aa8da56b4.png

So directly after unboxing I fired up my Sim and loaded GSPro, and hit 3 putts.  I noticed a very different feeling off the clubface than I'm used to,  it felt more like my Ping Ketsch Mallet than my ER2 blade. I loved the feel.  The very first putt I hit was perfectly straight 0 HLA, the second was a .2 HLA push, and the third was a .4 HLA push.  Which is already quite straight.  Very impressed.  I made all 3 putts.

above is pictured in comparison to my ER2, it is barely wider, but quite a bit heavier.  And pictured ready for a round of golf.  It looks sexy in my bag for sure.  I'm really looking forward to testing this on the course!

FINAL REVIEW TS-912

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

10/10 This putter is beautiful.  The sexiest putter I've owned.  From the beautiful head/shaft combo.  It just looks right when you are using it.  I was really surprised about the weight when I first picked it up.  Felt somewhere between, my ER2 blade, and my Ping Kaetch mallet. Mid-Mallet is the correct description for this putter.

SOUND/FEEL:

9/10 the ball feels like it springs off of the face, and not in a bad way.  The sound is a dull muted one.  The feel is great, I know immediately before looking up if I had a good stroke or not by the feel.  If you have a good stroke, the feel is the same.  If you happen to hit one with crappy tempo, or wristy, or just a bad stoke it seems to spring off the face more.

ACCURACY:

9/10  So I wake up a different person everyday it seems.  Somedays putting is like Xbox golf, I can see the line, and just made some unbelievable putts with the TS-912.  Other days I'm clueless where to aim.  That being said, I putt with the line, and it's a breeze getting it to roll end over end.

As for 3 putts, that's more on me than the putter.  Days I three putt, I will do it more than once that round.  Seemingly fewer days with this putter!

The TS-912 narrowly beat out the ER2, by .2 less putts per round.

When I'm on, I don't miss short putts, and I have lots of confidence with the TS-912 knowing it will go where I aimed it.  This putter is a weapon when I'm on.

DISTANCE/STABILITY:

8.5/10  When I show up at the course I will go to the putting green to calibrate the speed (they cut this green the same, and the same time as the others).  I will start with 3 at 15', then 3 at 30'.  It will show me if they are running fast or slow.  As I have a base putt for those distances at 10 stimp, then adjust from the results.

The TS-912 is the best putter I've owned from 15' and in.  The only place where my Evnroll ER2 beat out the TS-912 was for 75-100' putts, but not by much.

If your putting stroke is smooth, and consistent this putter is money, it just does what you want.  But take the smooth stoke out of the equation, and if you stab at it at all, the ball springs off the face and distance control can be an issue on the longer putts.  I got my friend who uses lots of wrist action in his putting stoke, and he had a rough time with this putter over 30'.

As for stability, this is way ahead of the ER2.  Especially with the weighted grip.  It's like cheating.

FORGIVENESS:

8.5/10  Very forgiving putter.  But the ER2 edges this putter out slightly on toe, and heel hits for distance and aim adjustments, but due to the stability of this putter, off center hits were not an issue.  Except for 75-100' putts I noticed a few more not center strikes, where the ER2 seems to be better for line and distance slightly.  On 15' putts it still goes almost 15' on toe, and heel strikes, so distance forgiveness is good.

CONTROL:

9.5/10  When I'm putting well I assume I will make everything inside 10'.  Like I said before, with a good putting stroke this putter is money!  With a bad stroke it can have some funny distances.

I seem to be able to roll the line on the ball end over end easily up until 40' putts.  Being I putt left hand low, it just exposed how I needed to work on a more fluid stroke on the long ones.  Which I have done.

And when I play on my simulator, it is a breeze to play.  Consistent ballspeeds are easy with the TS-912!

PLAYABILITY:

9.5/10  I use this putter everywhere.  Recently I've hit a few that were around 30' from the green in the fairway.  The math just works on this putter.  If its 10' to the green on the fairway, and 10' to the pin from the edge of the green, I just double the distance on the fairway, so it would be a 30' putt.  And adjust accordingly for fairway length, and up/down hill.  The weigh of the putter gives me so much confidence using it from the fairway.  Here it handily beats out the ER2 evnroll which seems too light for that application.  Hit the center of the face and the TS-912 does what you want it too!

EXTRAS:

A few things of note,  the ball scooper thingie is not as good as the ER2 but is ok.

Also if you putt with a line on your ball.  I always find my line, line up the ball, place it, then hold up my putter shaft and look at it through my dominant eye, and see if the line on the ball is on the correct target line.  This is the best putter I've found for that.  The ER2 is too light and hard to hold stable while looking at the line.

Lastly, the back edge can be used to get out of tough situations.  Rather than trying to hit a iron upside down or something similar.

PLAY IT OR TRADE IT?

This is a 100% play it in my opinion.  It checks all the boxes off for me.  But the biggest one is making more putts at the 10-15' range.  I seem to be making more birdies, less three putts, less chipping (as it works great as a texas wedge).

Even on bad, shakey days, it is easy to putt straight.

And being the sexiest putter I've owned doesn't hurt too.

I would recommend this putter to people of all skill levels.  Especially those with a smooth putting stoke, it is bound to improve your game.

Thanks to T-Squared putters and MYgolfspy for this opportunity to test this wonderful and beautiful putter!  It will be in my bag for sure.

Hot off their impressive performance in MyGolfSpy Most Wanted testing, we are excited to bring T Squared putters to our member testing platform. The T Squared TS-912 finished third overall and was the best putter from 10 feet. Considering there were 39 putters tested this year, that is impressive. However, the story of how the brand was created and founded blows that out of the water.
About T Squared

I would love to tell the full story here but our own John Barba has already done this must-read article on T Squared which you can read HERE. Instead, I will give you the shorter version. T Squared was created by Tony Tuber in 2018 who, at the time, was just 17 years old.

The company now offers nine putter models, all hand-built and with different customization options. Several of the T Squared models have different finishes, neck options and shaft colors to go along with standard customization options such as dexterity, shaft length and lie angle.

Please welcome and congratulate our testers!

Previously I have learned a lot by following a test; something I might like to get for myself and something I may avoid.  This is something I will follow closely as the testers begin their reviews.
