So I was 1 under on the holes that I didn't lose a ball!!!

Unfortunately I hit a drive in the hazard on 3 (double), a drive OB on 7 (triple), crushed a perfect drive on a blind tee shot on 12 and never could find the ball (double), and then hit one in the hazard with the tee shot on the par 3 13th (double).

Little rainy to start the day but finished in great sunshine and light breeze on a great course.  My dad, brother and I all have August birthdays so we celebrated with golf and another on the Top 100 courses within 1.5 hours drive of my house.

Highlight of the course, besides the outstanding condition and the vacuum dried greens, is the signature 16th, Robert Trent Jones' self proclaimed "My Mona Lisa."

Here is a photo of just a portion of this hole from behind the green.

And if you look closely at the base of the pin, you'll see how close I came to acing this beauty of a hole.

First time playing this historic L.A. Muni - really, really fun. Lots of dog-legs right, a few left.  Managed to drive the ball VERY well, especially on the front, hitting 6 of 8 fairways in reg.  My misses off the tee, with the exception of two that were pretty far right, were just off or still in a good spot.  

My chipping and putting were "ok" - small greens I'd never putted on equated to a lot of "just misses", but it was ALL about my 2nd shots today.  Irons just flat-out refused to obey, and I left myself short SO many times. Out of 18 holes, I had...TWO GIR, lol.  

Great course, lots of fun, not hugely long (6400 from blues), but you kind of had to put it in good places to get a chance to get it close - and even when I hit a good tee-shot, I just absolutely FAILED to get it on the green.  Sigh.  

That being said - can't wait to get back.  If I played like this and still shot 83, it feels like it's a VERY gettable course.

Nothing like starting out with a snowman on a par 5  .... only to follow it up with another snowman on a par 5. 

lost my speed control on the back 9 with some tricky up/down hill putts that I miss read.

All in all, meh day but happy with score knowing it wasn't my best stuff.

Good finish on the round with 2 near birdies on 16/17

Fun day and hope to get out again next week

Played our composite course (we have 27 holes)...Par event..+4 or 40p.....great day with 1 scr bird and 6 nett birds...was blowing like a hurricane and only got to record 1 long drive....uphill into a gale...

The third aeration of the Summer was scheduled this week, so we had to play the back twice.  Unfortunately, the equipment broke so we have to repeat playing the back twice next week.  The typical big aeration holes with sand top dressing will be a putting issue for a few weeks.  We were a little spoiled when the course decided to give the Wetject process a try last month. 

The process involved waterjet holes that are immediately filled with a sand/nutrient mixture.  No other maintenance is needed before returning the hole to play.  We played the front while they did the back.  At noon, they closed the front and people played the back with no issues.  I can say that the system provided a decent green right after aeration and after four or five weeks, the greens were significantly in better shape than before the treatment.

I bring all of this up as my round was void of anything worth talking about!!
