Coming back after surgery reminded me of how I've always got an excuse for not shooting scratch.

My excuse today is I'm returning from a 3-month layoff.

I remember another time when my hip hurt oddly.

Or another time when they punched the fairways.

 

What's your excuse for crappy play today?

My excuse was when I was playing our course card wrecking hole I lost focus and made triple, then on the next hole we got called through by two older choppers who were looking for a lost ball about 50 metres down in the left bush and it is golf lore that you never play well on the hole where you get called through on so I tripled that one as well and then went birdie par to finish the nine 5 over. Arrrrrrrgh  Still managed to finish with 34 points but what could have been *sigh*

Hmm, still lots of casual water on the course, puddles in bunkers, bare spots on lots of greens, high humidity.

Last Saturday I had two excuses. I didn't hit many greens and I had a poor 3 hole bogie finish carding a 78. It's maddening to finish weak like that.

Arthritus pain in my fingers, abdominal pain from too many hernia repairs and left ankle pain from overstretched tendons.......and that is just my daily aches and pains.

Ok....... I seem to have absolutely forgotten how to hit a golf ball. The 3 rounds prior to this morning were 77,79,81. This morning's round was 94! I couldn't hit the driver or the irons. The only thing that worked was chipping. I couldn't even make foot and a half putts for par. It was an absolute catastrophe of a round. I haven't played that poorly in years! I have no answer for how or why. So, I guess I really don't have an excuse other than, today I sucked!

I am not liking this because you sucked.  lol.   I just resemble rounds like that.  All you can do is laugh it off, forget about it, and go into the next round with positive thoughts.  Don't think back on these rounds.  The important thing is to have fun.  I would not try to go out and shoot a good round, but instead go out and have a casual round with good friends with the idea that its going to be fun.

Well, it appeared that I was sucking worse than normal at first. Then on 13 a storm front moved in with 20 mph sustained and gusts to 45 mph. So my normal game in the mid 90's turned into a 104 today......yeah THAT kind of suck.

I am not liking this because you sucked.  lol.   I just resemble rounds like that.  All you can do is laugh it off, forget about it, and go into the next round with positive thoughts.  Don't think back on these rounds.  The important thing is to have fun.  I would not try to go out and shoot a good round, but instead go out and have a casual round with good friends with the idea that its going to be fun.

 

3 of us started as singles but got backed up and played together. I'd have called it a day after a few holes if we hadn't joined up, but good company made up for the crappy putts!
