Two recent purchases:

1. Aftermarket back weight for my G430 LST driver. The LST comes with a 22g weight vs the 25g weight in the max and 27g weight in the 10k. I thought I'd try a 25g weight to add a little MOI. I expected there may be a little more spin too, but for now I won't crank loft down any further than the current -1* (8*). The hosel will go as low as -1.5* but the launch angle and ball flight I see currently is right where I want it.

I spent 80 mins on the sim today and spin numbers with this weight installed were around the same ballpark as before, so that's good. The G430 spins at the top of the range I'd like to see, but it's acceptable (2400-2700rpm, so costs me a little distance over my old Rogue ST Max LS, which was around 1900-2300rpm, but I'll take no low spin duck hook off the toe). I also visited the range for a short time after fitting the weight yesterday. Shot shape and accuracy on both sim and range was great. Nice baby fade or straight. Couple of draws, but no big pull and only a couple of moderate slices (which were me holding the face open). In general, I don't notice the 3g additional weight (I weighed both old and new weights on the kitchen scale to confirm true weight was correct to spec) and shot accuracy and distance were not harmed. Will see how it plays on Sunday morning. Rain precluded a meaningful test on course last night. Frustrating! The two drives I did get to hit with it were decent and went where I was aiming.

2. New bag...

A couple of recent visits to Dick's and Golf Galaxy to check out stand, hybrid and cart bags and trial fit them on shop floor BagBoy Nitron carts (what I use) have resulted in this purchase today. It's an early birthday present for me. Last black and red one within 120 miles so went and grabbed it quickly.

Ogio Woode Hybrid bag:

I really like how the clubs sit, fit and are separated and easy to access compared to my old Taylormade bag. No major bunching and the jumbomax grips on the hybrid and woods fit just fine.

The only thing I need to change is the shoulder straps are not quick release removable. So I'll attach some carabiners for now and get some decent clips for a more elegant solution soon. It's nice to be able to remove the straps when using push or riding carts.

Nice!  Love that larger grips are not an issue too!

Thanks! Got out and played 18 today and it treated me well.  I've become a Honma convert.  Buddy had a hybrid that didn't work for him so he gave it to me and I loved it. I've since added another hybrid, a driving iron, a 5 wood, and now the driver. Not sure what it is but their clubs work well for me so I'm fully bought in and as a bonus I love the looks.

I've very nearly bought the Honma TW737/747 irons in various different specs and setups over the years. Never pulled the trigger, but I love the brand and i'm glad they're working for you! Maybe it's time...

I love my Honma irons.  They definitely have great feel.   I've even consider getting another set even though I don't need them.  The prices on ebay are pretty good for used sets.

After getting back into the sport after a 10 year gap, my box clubs were woefully out of date. Got a proper irons fitting to get the numbers and ended up buying a set of Sub 70 699 v2 w/ upgraded MMT 80g graphite shafts. Super excited! They’ll be here this week!

It was quite the relief! I have XS and Med STR8 Jumbomax grips and they fit in the individual wood/hybrid pockets fine. Large should fit ok too.

Recently I have bought the Callaway X-forged cavity backs from 2020. I went to hit some different irons at Dick's Sporting Goods and found that I hit the newer cavity backs way better than any Mizuno or Taylormade. I decided to go with the 2020 version because I found a great deal on Callaway pre-owned and I can say they were a great choice. The feeling of them is much better than my previous set (especially coming from super game improvement irons) and even though the club face is smaller, my ball striking seems much more consistent. The only thing I would change is getting graphite shafts instead of the dynamic gold steel shaft.

What a great buy! I own one myself and absolutely love it. However, I've found that the jailbird cruiser suits me better due to its longer grip and heavier feel. Good luck with your new flatstick!

Thanks, I'm a big 2-ball fan.

I bought this used, they go for $399.99 here at Golf Town.

I actually met the seller at a Golf Town, and I went in and tried one of the jailbird cruisers, and they are nice feeling.

I'm more of an "over the ball" putter, and I like to hold the grip as close to the end as possible, so 33-34" is my max preferred length. 

I do really like the shape of the jailbird though, it looks better to the eye in person than I was expecting, has a nice "sway" to it.

Going to new irons that don't offer a gap wedge so I had to match my other wedges. Which with the release of the high toe 4 I couldn't get the 3 with my shaft. So I ordered it and anew shaft and had my local guy swap it.

Went to local golf store to have a new grip installed on my Flanagan 8802 style putter.  Haven’t been there in maybe 8-10 months but Store Mgr recognized me which felt good.  While waiting for the putter grip I spotted a used LH Scotty Newport 2 Super Select in with the new putters.  I hit a few putts but didn’t like the $250 price although the putter is pretty clean.  Mgr came over and we started talking war stories and past 9 months.  I told him the SC was nice but not $250 nice.  He offered $200 out the door, thought about it for a while.  
I now have a slightly used SC

Been looking for a new putter for a while, I like heel hang putters and currently use a MacGregor type 7 clone which I do OK with but never feel comfortable with especially over 3-4' putts. I was looking for a more of a blade rather than a mallet, I also like having the alignment aids on the club

I have tended to buy new clubs in the past but the prices recently I think are obscene.  We have Golf Clubs for Cash locally which buys and sells clubs, they let you try a club for 14 days and return with full refund

I started off by buying 

Odyssey Toe Up SB #1 Putter

 

If you balance the club on your finger the head points straight up which is a bit weird

I used it for a couple of rounds and just didn't like it, it felt light in my hands, I also like to align the putter, rest it on the ground and regrip. In this case the putter would tend to want to move to open.

Next up Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K Triple Wide Putter

My current putter is 35.5" but the only putter available was 34". After trying it in the shop I went for it.

The putter is marketed as having a high MOI which should mean you get less mishits off the face. I would have to say that I felt the ball was definitely releasing off the face smoothly.

I tried it for a couple of rounds and still liked the look and feel of the club but felt I was stooping over the ball due to the shaft length. I committed to keep it but added 1.5" onto the shaft.

First round out with it yesterday and was really impressed, 29 putts which was OK but 10 single putts. I had two 3 putts which spoiled the stats but they were more pace related, racing the initial putts 8' by and me getting use to the putter. It is now my gamer.

Just ordered some UST Mamiya Recoil 680 F4, now have to wait for them to arrive then put them into my Cobra King Tour iron. The irons currently have KBS $Taper 130. At 65 I believe the $ taper are a bit to heavy for me now.

In short. I love them. Best irons i have hit in years. Had been playing the T350.

Bought this Himal Golf Cart Bag. I love the size and the amount of storage. My favorite thing is the club separation. Clubs handles no longer get tangled in the bag. Also has a built in cooler.

Ever have a day so bad you trade your putter off on the way home?  I listed my broomstick from the truck and a guy wanted to trade before I got home. 

New (to me) counterbalance DF3 is the next one to see if it works for me. The broomstick was lazer straight. But zero feel and distance control.  And my statistics show it made me worse.

I offered my putter to @GolfSpy_APH at Royal New Kent my putting was so bad.  Luckily he didn’t need any more putters at the time!

Thanks guys. Initial testing at the course I met the guy at and my little mat at home seems promising. I'll give it a run before I go back to just the classic putter.
