You know what someone with super human skills would've done? Not hit it in the bunker 2 times in a row.

Holing out from the bunker does require some skill, but I consider luck to be a major player in that equation.

Its luck when you do it once. When you do it on the reg while under pressure, that's not luck. While he's far from my favorite, the kid is great and clutch.

Sadly I think this has become a 2 man race. Maybe Kuch figures out a way to backdoor himself a major championship victory.

I just don't care for him as a golfer. He is amazing, but it's just bland. He is awesome with iron play and short game... maybe if they turned off the mic so I couldn't hear him. He does great things, and the kids like him I suppose. He

 

I just prefer watching the likes of Adam Scott, Bubba, Rickie...

I think this is what turns you off to him the most. Its today's era everyone must be compared to someone great. Look at LeBron he is the next MJ and look at Sidney crybaby I mean Crosby as the next Gretzky. Everyone is compared to the greats and no one will ever be a repeat of the greats. Its not just golf its every sport the announcers feel like they need to say things to keep their job. If they would shut up and talk about the play more I would enjoy sports more on TV.

Wow! What a day! The chase between Kuchar and Spieth was intense!

That was the most boring golf event I remember watching in recent history. There was no battle. Just the weather holding off and records getting broken.

 

I'll give it to Brandon Grace. Besides that it was a meh day. Now if Koepka goes -10 tomorrow... that would be exciting.

He hit it like crap all week that week. Its amazing he was where he was at the time. And still turned around and played under par after the quad.

Name a more clutch player currently in the game other than maybe Rory. If you think of one they are much older or have a much crappier resume...

And again, I don't even like the kid that much. But ppl gotta get real. He's a stud. 2 wins in a "down" year is extremely good.

I hope Koepka pulls it out. Good to see Rory, DJ, and Day playing decently - it wasn't looking good for the TM boyz the last few tourneys.

 

I know what Shankster is saying when he doesn't like Speith. I don't like seeing the guys I idolized growing up being compared to the new generation. It's like a weird ownership thing. The kid has talent, but when people are compared to greatness, it's just so easy to root for them to fail. I don't ever want to see someone win 6 NBA rings again. I'm not even a Jordan fan, quite the opposite I'm a Knicks fan, but there's still that sense of me not wanting the guy, that I deemed the best ever, to get dethroned. So, eff Speith, and LeBron! Tiger and MJ forever!

Watching JS warm up I just noticed they've got a LM hooked up to the big board. That's super cool for spectators but it would make me feel funny as a player having everyone (including other players) look at your stats.

Here's the advantage of being older. I'm on my fourth or fifth generation of pro athletes. It gives perspective. I learned that perspective from Bob Feller back in the 80's. Lots of people were saying that Dwight Gooden was the greatest pitcher ever. Feller said, "Lets wait and see if he puts up another ten years." He was accused of being a bitter old man. Actually he was right. Gooden had a nice career but nothing close to Hall of Fame let alone best ever.

 

I enjoy watching greatness. I got to see arguably the greatest and second greatest golfers of all time with Jack and Tiger. Let's enjoy the good young players today, not trash them. If someone gets a career grand slam and is approaching ten majors we can start to worry about his place in the pantheon. That's going to take a decade.

 

The big question right now is if Spieth and Kutch can beat 6 under

Spieth keeps leaving himself long putts. That's very tough in pressure situations.

 

I'm tired of the announcers talking about him being a good putter and wondering why he's missed so many shorter ones today. Clearly they haven't done their homework. He's a below average short putter and was even in his great season a couple of years back. He is a tremendous middle distance putter.

All the guys that make close to the $ that Bubba makes do alot for charities. Its good publicity for them and helps them grow their brand. I'm not a fan of anyone who constantly yells at his caddy and fans and then pushes his faith on people a few hours later on twitter. Its like Hugh Freeze. That got old.

 

The sad thing about Bubba, is I should LOVE HIM. He plays the game the way I like to play it. Bomb and gauge with lots of crazy shots. But the bitching and moaning kills it for me. One of my similar complaints for JS. Although its not nearly as bad with him.

 

I get liking people who do crazy things on the golf course. Rory's my guy and I'm a big fan of DJ and Koepka. But that doesnt mean I can't appreciate the golf that Spieth plays. He isn't stupid long like the others yet he can still compete.
