How far do you hit your 7 iron

Recommended Posts

I don't like playing mine over 205, but occasionally I'll hit it from 215-220, on a hot day where I'm nice and limber. Back in my early-mid 20s I routinely hit my Ping Zing 7i 230ish with little effort.

I can stretch it to about 190 with a well struck shot. Smashed one 220 two weeks ago though, flew the green in to some water Nike vrs forged irons.

I play with some golfers that use their 7 around 200 easy. I have a nephew who would use his 8 iron from 200. He's a big guy, his driver swing speed a couple years ago was around 135. He would tee off with his 3iron from the grass and hit it as far as I hit my driver, enough to piss you off at times, but he's half my age and can flat hit a ball.

You at least have to tell the whole story. It was a 70yd slice from the woods and I got it out of the woods, but I sliced it 90yds into a pot bunker with 3' deep grass in the face of it......after 7 attempts to get it out of that bunker/grass, I picked up and took a 10. Lol

It's always better when the other guy tells it. Or so I've heard. Haha.

Sounds like an entertaining 10 to say the least. Haha.

Watching the raffle yesterday, on of the guys hit a 7 iron for one of the give-aways..

I think I remember it going 216 or thereabouts, which stunned me. When I was younger, i could hit my MP33 7 iron 180.

Now I hit my RC forged CB on reg shaft about 160.

How far do you hit your 7 iron, and what brand is it?

I have a Titleist 716 AP2 7 iron and I hit it about 175-180, but I did hit the taylormade P790 7 iron around 210

Average 190-200 hitting it pure. I can put a little more on it, but I can also start getting a little wild.

I have the ping i e1 with Nippon modus 3 stiff shafts and typically will hit my 7 about 170. It's much further then my cobra amp cell pros which was about 155. I think the whole forgiveness had a big factor with that.

Just looking at the distances here I'm waiting for a lot of 120's to check in to get our average back to around 140 which is the norm for a male golfer. :)

The PGA range is 165-180 - seems like we easily have that beat.

Yea..... I was waiting for someone to bring that up. Makes me wonder what some of these 4-5 irons are going??? If I could hit irons that far, I wouldn't a need a driver...lol.

LOL... Heck, even my best skulled 7 iron would only go 155yds downhill with the wind... 😁
