So I'm going to assume everyone has seen it. Not sure how I feel about wearing a button down shirt untucked playing golf. I don't care for the color or design but even a nice button down I'm not sure I'd do. Thoughts?

I just read your post, changed the station, and there he was, up-close, signing a couple autographs. I actually like it! It's an “island” style shirt, and the material was still breathable polyester, collar was not a button-down. Looked soft. I think it fits a Hawaiian style.

Yup. I like it, way better than shorts. This is a good look for Mr. Fowler. I like where he is headed.

 

Also, are the MB's he's playing the new ones? There is no orange on them...??? Just white paint fill, doesn't look much different than his other ones. He played these at the Hero as well.

It's a play on an aloha shirt - which is our version of a dress shirt that business men wear to work under their coat. Most don't tuck them in, but you'll see a lot of the old timers who do. Doesn't look like his has more than 4 buttons, it's still a polo from what I can see. It's a cool nod to our lifestyle and culture here, where we don't get upset over blade collars and the integrity of the game if you are missing 1" from your shirt, and if your shirt was tucked in you'd be in the minority. Don't wear your shoes in the house though, you'll get a broken nose.

I love it, plus it's blue!

 

Is it going to be in the wardrobe at Augusta?  I highly doubt it.  But for kicking off the season at a tourney of champs only in Hawaii, it's perfect.

I like it too; looks sharp enough and in my opinion a respectful nod to the islands.

But his shirt space sponsors may have mixed feelings about their logos blending into that sort of pattern long term. I'd be surprised if we see this look outside Hawaii.

I follow him and JT on Snapchat so I saw this before the round and I thought it looked good. The untucked shirt will bother some but heck he can pull it off. He pushes boundaries for style all the time and things he was once the only one doing others are starting to do too.

I wonder if he will have an orange one for Sunday. I saw this one and 2 polos, one white and one blue with the Hawaiian/Japanese look according to the puma website. So that's only 3 days.

in Hawaii is dif so I think its kinda cool - in Hawaii I might try it but anywhere else prob not

I hate that golf has such a strict dress code. It lends itself to being exclusive. Let em wear shorts. Is there a real reason that they can't? I disagree with the "gentlemen's game" reasoning. There were shorts is old military uniforms by the English. Just make some rules about length and such.

 

I do like Rickie's shirt. Looks comfortable and very Hawaiian style.

I love the look; think Rickie is a great “kid”, and super good role model & spokesperson for golf.

Oddly, the blending of the logos was the first thought I had after “cool shirt”. I wonder if his team & Puma had convos w/ the other sponsors prior to him wearing these this week?

You guys might be forgetting. Furyk for years (might still) wore a full front button (tucked in) golf shirt of some brand. Not to jack Rickie's fashion statement but I too have worn many times in the summer a silk square hem shirt to play golf in. (think Tommy Bahama style) They were very cool and with plenty of room to move. I'd certainly recommend you try it sometime.

Yeah I agree it fits this tournament for sure and pulls the look off. Wondering In the summer here in jersey If i wore that I'd be allowed on the course... not sure my “well rickie wore it” excuse would matter
