Tried some NTC work ( tendonitis felt better after acupuncture). I get into position and start shaking. I really think I have very poor mobility of my joints.

Love the NTC.  It has really helped my swing, and I understand now what Monte was telling me at the Seattle clinic last year.

I think your rotation through impact looks much better.  The takeaway needs more work.  I suggest working on those drills of NTC.  You get the club a little too vertical which pulls your body towards the ball a little; left wrist is cupped, should be flat or slightly bowed.  It flattens out when you move to the 8 o'clock position, but it requires you to move the club at the top of the swing more than necessary.

I like it!!  Your rotation is bringing the club more from the inside.  Keep it up.

Look into Controlled Articular Rotations for shoulders, hips, and torso. Shaking is a strength/stability issue, not mobility. It's also not realistic to expect that you can reach full rotation in the backswing and hold that position with zero movement. If no motion is your goal, uncoil 1-2" and you'll notice a large difference. If you are exerting yourself to reach max rotation it will require more effort in slow-mo because there is no momentum of the golf club. Pushing the limit of your body to it's end range will result in shaking at some point, otherwise you aren't pushing far enough. 😉

Tried some NTC on some full speed swings with my 2i. I think it’s coming along. To my eye things look better. These were the last two of 15 swings. Started with slow swings with feels and then tried to focus on one particular swing thought. Sorry, only down the line and the goofy baggy pants that @Kenny B loves.

Hopefully the tendinitis heals up fast. I find dry needling to be pretty effective in the early stages of an acute tendinitis

Not sure how, but I had missed this thread up until now. Keep up the good work! 100 will be no issue next season (well, in the Pacific NW you can probably play year around) at the rate you're going.

Thanks. I also think my goal posts may have moved after my last two 9s. Granted I should get past this hurdle before having more lofty goals. Thanks for the support, from you and everyone!

Ok, I think I see the problem.  You need to set a stretch goal... next up is requesting this badge 🙂.

Also, keep a watch out for our 2021 PNW Spy Meet-up.  We'll likely try to do Bend, OR since that was the planned location before the poo hit the fan.  If not there then likely Boise, ID.  So much fun you'll shoot great... and if not, won't care.

You are making improvements. The club head is staying low longer but you still have a lot more of an arm swing compared to a rotational swing and letting the arms go along for the ride.

You take the club away with the hands/arms instead of chest shoulder and you also rotate the arms and get the club open as you can see on the first pic with the left arm getting on top of the right instead of the other way. Also you don’t really get much left side bend so it’s a lot more of a flatter shoulder swing.

club parallel in the second pic you can see more of it where then clubhead isn’t match spine angle. A lot of what you do int the takeaway/backswing turns into compensations in the downswing and what you talk about with your hands going out.

in the third pic we can see where you over swing and extend a little too much which then leads to having to steeping the shaft (this is something i fight in my swing as well because of similar moves with forearm rotation in the backswing and working on with my coach). And moving into the fourth pic the club should be bisecting the right arm.

this move along with the flat shoulder swing and not a lot of change in tilts gets the right arm stuck coming into impact and having to stand up to help get the club to the ball and hopefully square.

Some drills I do to help stay connected is a long towel under both arms and work on swings to where left arm is parallel to the ground, also helps with the drill for taking the club away by having a ball placed at address and another ball right behind the clubhead and use the chest to rotate and push the ball backwards.

the Sam Snead drill for rotation and where/how the club should be at the top of the swing is a good one for working on good rotation and feeling the top of the swing.

Realized today that the feel i need to have in transition in a rolling back of the right shoulder to help get my wrists to work properly. Gives me the feeling I get doing the NTC. Still works in progress. Lots of indoor swings this week with the wild rain and wind rolling through.

Feels can change week to week and month to month. Hopefully this one holds up. Indoor with no ball is a bit of a different situation or doing slow-mo rehearsals to ingrain a new move.

I find it's works better to think of a swing type or ball flight that triggers these moves or feels as opposed to focusing on moving a body part in a specific way when you are hitting balls (at range or course). My swing path is left which results in fades and pulls because of downswing sequencing and not enough lower body use. If my swing thought is "high draw or easy draw" that helps shift the path to the right, get the legs moving to start the downswing while the arms hang back, and shallow the club. As opposed to thinking: shift weight to lead leg, drop right elbow to hip, swing out to the right.

Obviously, it might be difficult to recall which were your knockdown shots vs. standard, but I always filter those shots out so I get an accurate stock shot. As for any real gapping issues, my best advice is to find a fitter or pro with a launch monitor and do a gap analysis. I did this for the first time in 2016 and it was such an eye opener for me.

Thanks. I likely will. My fitter is down in AZ into March/April and he is the only one i'd trust now with gapping as he was a prior fitter for Nike players and he has his trackman set up on grass. Also gives me a couple months to fine tune my swing.

Thanks. I likely will. My fitter is down in AZ into March/April and he is the only one i'd trust now with gapping as he was a prior fitter for Nike players and he has his trackman set up on grass. Also gives me a couple months to fine tune my swing.

Let's see, Portland... cold and rainy; AZ... warm and sunny. Don't wait; go see him!!  😂

haha. I can wait. Especially since the weather is cold and I think some of this could be swing faults. Ok n November I could hit my 4i closer to 195-205

Was very close to breaking 100 on my first 18 since October. Shot a 102 while being + 10 on par 5s, ugh!!! Par 5s would have been better had I not been trying to test my 3w once and for all. Also had 4 pars. This goal will be reached for sure this year. Had three 3 putts, including the last par 5, which I parred.  Ball striking wasn’t greatest but learned a 3/4 worked best in most situations. Drive shot shape also changed through out the round which took two holes to adjust. Got my distance back on my drives. The 3w debacle is going to lead me to getting a super hybrid soon.

All year since I started scoring penalties properly I have struggled to break 100. I am getting Arccos to see where my deficiencies  are. I know I am losing too many strokes (balls) off the tee according to MyRound pro. My putting is getting better and wedge play is not awful. Blowup holes are killing me.  I am going through a swing change but iron play now is much better. Any other tips? I am trying decade for course management. So tempted to just play irons all round to get under the hump.

Id say that you just need to play smarter golf.  Learn how to play safe shots and get the ball into the fairway when you miss.

Id recommend watching Golfsidekick's Youtube videos where he talks about the, "way of the playa".  Its all about playing smart, safe golf and avoiding the big number.

Sounds like major improvement is underway. 90 won't be too far off. FYI Definitely look into the hybrids - they're definitely greens finders for me.

Thanks. I watch him once in a while. I would have broken it easily today had I not been trying to stress play my 3w. If fact. If I didn’t have to take to penalties today I would have been fine. Thanks for following and On Wisconsin!

Some divot board action going on. I think this tool will really help me harness my swing. Going back and forth with the plane mate and NTC still.

We’ve all been there. Biggest thing that’s helped me is shortening my swing on everything, 3/4 swings all day long and focus on ball first contact. Accuracy and good contact is the key to lower rounds

Also remember henrik stenson made a career out of hitting it short but straight. Same with Webb Simpson, distance isn’t everything, so work on a smoother swing that’s repeatable, even is you’re not hitting it as far at first. My coach is a plus 4 and hits it same as me, he just won a pga teaching pro tournament in Vegas last weekend. He shot -14 over three days and he said his longest drive was 260

More divot board work. Trying to implement planemate rotation, NTC with wrists, and weight forward with step through drill. The results are this swing if I can keep it consistent. Learned I need to slow my tempo down.

Sounds like my solution - whenever I end up with a wayward ball it's because I overextended my backswing. I found if I limit my backswing to 9:00 I get the distance and dispersion I'm looking for.

Yep, it keeps the flight down, but you don’t loose much spin. I’ve found my 9:00 swing and full swing goo about the same length, the full swing just goes higher. This gives you options on your approach’s.
