Speed Training- Super Speed vs The Stack

Two yrs ago I dabbled in the Super Speed Golf program. I only stayed commuted for a month or so but I did add 3 mph to my swing. Lately I’ve seen a lot of online content for The Stack. Seemed interesting. Curious if anyone had done both programs and what your pros and cons were on each.

Quick thoughts: The Stack has a much better app and will most likely be easier to follow if you don't have a lot of motivation or self-discipline.  SuperSpeed is perfectly fine and you can see great results if you stick with it.  I went from a driver swing speed of 104 up to 115 doing a year of SuperSpeed.  If I had to start it all over again though I would definitely go with The Stack due to the app.

Thanks to @Bucky CCfor providing all the links.  Having written that first one I can tell you I went more in depth there, but the bottom line is that while they both work, the Stack is far more optimized and tailored versus a one-size-fits-all approach from SuperSpeed that in reality doesn't fit all.  Expensive though, given that you have to add in the cost of the radar.

Cost no object, The Stack hands down. 

Couple things that haven't already been mentioned that are advantages to the Stack system for me:

• Enforced rest periods through Grit score. I'm an impatient person and with the SuperSpeed protocols I never gave myself enough rest between sets.
• The Stack app gives direct comparisons to other golfers in your age bracket.
• One stick vs. three. In combination with the Stack's speed priming workout you have a really portable and awesome quick warmup before a round of golf.
• No opposite hand or kneeling swings.
• FlightScope integration, if you have one.

Yes, very happy. It does add just a bit of time to the setup process, but totally worth it. No need to manually enter speeds.

Just started with the Stack system.  Love the guided workout. Very well done!   Super Speed caused some physical injuries for me.  I will report back on health status with the Stack.

What sort of injuries did you develop with super speed?

My wrist would always bother me during the swings, and I would get a lancinating nerve pain in that same wrist during some of the swings. I stopped and the pain never returned.

My opinion/experience here...

The intro program does a very good job of ramping up the swings so you don't jump full on into too many at once. That being said, during the first couple of weeks of the Full Speed Spectrum program, which was the first program the app recommended after the intro, I did experience some tennis/golf elbow. Full Speed Spectrum uses some heavier weights and it took my body a while to adjust to that. No issues now, just about done with Full Speed Spectrum.

Apparently late to the part on this as its been done before and I just asked about it in the Stack Thread. 

I haven't tried Stack, but SuperSpeed was a ton of work, tiring and exhausting. There were certainly days I just didn't want to do it at all and found some of the motivation lacking. I can see where if there is little to no progress where it gets frustrating and difficult to continue. I can remember several of the testers saying similar things.

Don't think this one has been asked yet.  Does anyone know if I could use The Stack app with Superspeed sticks?  As in is the app free and you don't need a code that comes with the product or anything?  Would the 3 weights of the Superspeed sticks translate to drill in The Stack app?

I have the Superspeed sticks already and a PRGR radar but I'm getting very frustrated with Superspeed for not having an app in this day and age.  Seems so simple to put video's of the drills in there, add a warm up drill and then a spot to manually enter speed for each swing and track results.

No, the Stack app needs a code to unlock it and that code is engraved the Stack training stick where the weights go.  
I’m also not sure there would be much utility in the idea either.  The Stack AI works by constantly adjusting the training weights to have you swinging at certain speed percentages; as Sasho says, the variable is the speed you’re training at, not the weight.  With the SuperSpeed sticks being fixed weights I’m not sure how you’d comport with a Stack training program even if you could get into it…you’re losing the “secret sauce” of the training itself.

Had it. I've gone DIY SuperSpeed sticks -> Rypstick -> The Stack.

The Rypstick is a good product, and I had a great experience with it and their supporting ecosystem. I actually did the consultation with their personal trainer Sarah and ended up buying a few months of fitness programming from her. The Rypstick takes the negatives of the SuperSpeed system (multiple sticks) and solves that with the changeable weight design.

All that being said, the app sold me on the Stack (despite the recurring cost), and the fact that Mevo+ integration came along was a fantastic bonus. I've made more progress on the Stack than I did with the Rypstick, but a lot of that is probably my commitment to keeping my Stacking schedule pretty consistent. The app is a good motivator (grit score) and I really like the "forced" rest periods. It's really quite simple and easy to follow.

Not to say the Rypstick programming is hard (it's pretty similar to SuperSpeed's newer program - fewer swings than SS's original programs, I believe), but for those of us who do not do a good job of enforcing rest periods or staying motivated, I think the Stack is superior.

Man lots of good feedback here and something I was truly interested in.  There is clearly a difference between Edingc's program and mine based upon his comments even in the full speed spectrum which is my second protocol.  The AI clearly does work in regards to adjusting based on initial input (age, weight of driver, baseline) and ongoing results.

 

I find that the stack is far easier to use than SuperSpeed.  It is more expensive but not really that much more in the end.  You need a speed tracking device with both so the cost difference is a what you see, what you get sort of thing.  Either system has periods of frustration because after an initial speed gain there seems to be little change and workouts are really up and down.  Additionally as I age I find doing things after work becoming more and more difficult - I do the workouts, that's not the issue, I just don't have the energy level that I used to after work.  I used to work a full day and then play in a Tuesday golf league like nothing, its become increasingly more difficult for me to do that too - mentally I'm gassed at the end of work.  Since I work 6 days a week I'm never really fully charged when I do my workouts.

 

It would be interesting to have a stack thread where we record results and what the AI recommends workout to workout.  I think that would be fascinating.
