Daughter’s ENT appointment when very well. Scheduled for her tubes procedure next week. So any prayers/vibes/thoughts are welcome that it goes good. 
 

last nights first sim tourney with the boys went well. I lost at Georgia Country club (Augusta but can’t be named that due to TM) by 1 and then my partner and I won in the alternate shot game we played. We had some good bourbon as well. 
 

play on practicing in a little bit after work. Roll Tide, hit em straight, and as always BE THE BLESSING!

here is the cover of a book written by the amateur golfer Gary Cowan, he was voted Canada’s golfer of the millennium. His two US amateurs in the 1960’s probably put him ahead of most. 
I had the pleasure of playing with him in a practice round at his last National appearance at Cedar Brae in Scarborough Ontario along with Canadian golf hall of fame Doug Roxburgh and British Columbia golf hall of fame player Sandy Harper. 
A day full of great stories from great golfers, many of which Gary tells in his book. 
Anyway have a great day everyone, lots going on in the golf world, never a dull moment…

A wonderful Friday off after a hellish Thursday. I have 2 hours booked for the Simulator at 10 and fingers crossed I may see my new Jailbird today. Then a small Christmas party later in the day.

Not to get off topic or political or offend any of the teachers on here, but .. I think I tend to agree with her...

.. the state of the education system seems sooooo fractured to me, ie. individual and separate by state by county by school district and even by school within a district .. that it's not clear to me what a "national education policy" is or means...

Sure minimum curriculum standards, health and safety requirements, whatever, standardized across the country *may* make sense but each individual school superintendent / principal / Board of Ed does what they want .. and change it all up as often as they change superintendents and principals...

.. and we're not even talking about all the special needs kids yet...

..whew ok today's rant concluded..

Beautiful day here in Chicagoland, and looks like the rain is holding off, so after work golf is in the plans. Not bad for December! 

Also, starting a business is a bit harder than I suspected LOL, good times!

Good morning all and Happy Friday!

Work finally calming down today after a busy week. Looking forward to decompressing this weekend.

Have a simulator booked for tomorrow afternoon. Very much looking forward to getting some swings in.

Hoping to catch some of the Grant Thornton Invitational as well - it's a shame there isn't more TV coverage of it.

Unfortunately had to miss the forum call last night, but hope everyone who attended had a great time.

Enjoy the day and hit 'em straight if you're lucky enough to live somewhere where the courses aren't closed!

I don’t envy parents today.  Years ago my wife quit her corporate job to go back to school and become a teacher, she went to UCF and got her degree in exceptional education (those with learning disabilities). My daus were in public elem which was fine but at the time (early 90s) wife was approved to do indep study course regarding middle schools.  She was appalled by what she saw in the school my daus would go to.  As each graduated to MS, we enrolled them in a private school.  Our premise was they’d get a good education and have choice of college, and maybe scholarships.  We took a financial hit but felt it was worth it and best for them.  No golf. (Yes, we gasped to budget). In the end, they both got full scholarships.  

My wife ended up working as an exceptional Ed in the public schools but each year would get moved to a different school based on numbers of spec Ed enrollment. Her 3rd stop/year was a MS.  She had a kid that wasn’t passing and had several meetings with the mother.  Her final meeting resulted in him picking up a desk and throwing it at her (really big for his age).  Then just before the semester end, she recognized him on the 11 o’clock news being arraigned for beating up his grandmother.  The next day, wife asked the administration what was going on and was told she didn’t have a need to know.   (He wasn’t suspended). 

That day, wife called my daus private school, applied and was hired as a regular teacher.  She started an exceptional Ed program that since has been recognized state-wide and 25+ years later still serves as its director where she works remote plus on-site 1 week a month.  Both my grandsons attend, and enrollment is exploding with the voucher program.  My grand daus attend a private school north of Atlanta and are thriving, and more importantly, are allowed to thrive.  Just have to do the best you can for one’s kids.

My curse continues! The service guys complain that every time I visit a plant to check things out something breaks. Happened twice last week, twice earlier this week, and again this morning. Drove into the plant to see nothing moving because a belt broke. 2-3 hour repair.

I noticed about 50 miles after I sent my good morning message there was snow at the highest elevation on I-80 east of the Mississippi River, at the exit for State Route 153 south of Penfield, and then the amount of snow kept getting more until it appeared you had a good snowfall recently.  Roads were clear and sunshine was the order of today... until now, here in WNY the clouds are filling in.  Home safely for those interested, mission complete and 1303 mi round trip Sunday night to Friday afternoon.

At the curling hall all weekend. Lots to do with a tournament going on, but it is very much a hurry up and wait where there is an hour of work then wait for an hour and half or so. Then an hour of work and wait for an hour and a half. Kinda disruptive as it isn't enough time to go home, but just means I am here on the forum more throughout the day.

Up way too early but that's ok!  Coffee in hand and feel rested somehow.  

I did some more stretching last night and woke up with my back feeling good.  Will be working on it again this morning and getting ready for my afternoon round.

It's a fairly warm and rainy morning as I'm sitting in the parking lot on this last work Saturday of the year. The rain just started as soon as I got parked and I'm glad to have an umbrella in the trunk.

I hope all of you have a good start to your weekend.

Good morning.  Our old dog decided she wanted to go out so i am up already.  No rain today, some outside chores to get done and then maybe time for some afternoon golf.  Have a great day everyone.
