Golf2Much
Interesting survey. I typically rotate my golf shoes between three brands which include spiked and spikeless as well as classical tied and BOA. Jack B.
This survey was a little restrictive in its parameters. I currently wear 2 brands, FootJoy and adidas, depending upon conditions. Comfort is the major criteria for my choice of footwear, but waterproof, width and cleat pattern, along with color are options I look for. I have also worn Skechers and they have performed well for me. sman3115, Mike10487, Steve F and 2 others

daniel__tg
I've got a few different pairs from different brands and type (spiked vs spikeless), but I often find myself always going to my spiked Footjoys first. I've slipped in a swing with spikeless shoes more times than I'd like to admit, where I've only had that happen maybe once in spiked shoes. Aside from absolutely losing my swing form when I slip, I'd also prefer not to tear my ACL or something of that nature because I slipped on a golf swing lol. Still, you can't beat the convenience and comfort of spikeless shoes if you're going anywhere besides the course and don't want to bring a second pair of normal shoes. arodrig29
For me, if it isn’t comfortable, I am simply not wearing it. Regardless of the promise of better traction or longer distance. The transition from back swing to follow through in my swing isn’t very aggressive. Meaning I don’t need a ton of traction, but comfort is a must. I wear these Ecco Biom now and I probably will not change anytime soon. Huse343
For me, spiked shoes are the only option. I have a relatively fast swing speed/transition, so traction and stability is paramount. As others have mentioned, when I used to wear spikeless shoes I would slip on nearly every swing. Wearing a shoe that has tough and hard spikes, not metal, has been a huge help in my consistency. If the courses I played allowed metal spikes, I would wear them. MaxEntropy
I feel like some of the answers should have allowed for multiple choices. I primarily wear Adidas spiked, but also have Puma spikeless when I don't have to worry about whether my shoes are waterproof. I have become a bit of an Adidas homer. Between golf, pickleball, and "daily use", I have 5 pairs of Adidas I currently wear - they just fit my feet very well. I am also very skeptical of a golf shoe promising extra distance. All major brands seem to have good traction and are reasonably stable - I would think ability to generate ground force would be driven by those things and I don't see a ton of room for improvement. Prove me wrong! MIGregB
It does seem as though the survey skews toward a certain brand as @russtopherb suggests. But if I'm correct, that brand isn't the one I gravitate toward because of the purported gains, it's because I have funky toes and they provide excellent room & comfort while being a highly stable shoe. JAFERD
I walk a hilly golf course 90+% of my rounds. Comfort is super important with stability being a distant second. For frequent riders out there, how important is comfort to you? Seems it wouldn’t be a priority and I’m curious if my preconceived notion is correct. sman3115
Definitely agree we could've offered more detailed responses. I also use mulitple pairs and try to keep my most waterproof shoes for when its really wet. So I have different criteria based on what my intended use is for just the one question about a shoe promising more distance seems kind of loaded... foreshadowing of a testing opportunit perhaps?
