txgolfjunkie 1,789
Careful with eBay...lots of counterfeits out there. The major golf forums have some good items for sale. I will say, after buying used clubs through the major websites (Global, 2nd Swing, Callaway Pre-Owned, etc), Callaway Pre-Owned is by far the best bang for your buck if you're in the mood for Callaway/Odyssey. I've found some fantastic deals on that site. I think 2nd Swings pricing is a bit over the top. For example, a new Mizuno T-20 wedge on most sites is $149. 2nd Swing has them used for $170+. A real head scratcher. 1 Quote SIM 10.5* w/ Kyoshi Black 65X tipped 1/2" F7+ 3W 14.5* w/ Hzrdus Black 75 6.5 ZX Utility 18* w/ Project X 6.5 X Forged 21* w/ Dynamic Gold X100 921 SEL 5-PW w/ Dynamic Gold X100 Glide 2.0 Stealth 50*, 54* & 58* w/ AWT 2.0 Toulon Vegas H7 w/ SS Flatso 2.0r '20 Tour B X I'm left-handed so I don't go broke buying all new clubs every week. dlow206 6,634
Depends on brand. If a Scotty, I'm skeptical of buying off Ebay. If buying something super niche, let's say a LAB Golf putter, then I wouldn't worry about fakes and would buy on ebay. 4 Quote Follow my golf journey to break into the 80s Current tester for the Titleist TSi Driver Spring 2020 MGS Tester for the Fujikura Motore X Shaft Updated 12/27/2020 Driver: TSi 2 - Graphite Design AD-XC 6S Hybrids: SIM Max 3H, 4H - Matrix Ozik 85S Irons: ZX5 5 - PW - Nippon Modus 120 S Wedges: CBX 2 54, CBX Full Face 58 - KBS Hi-Rev S Putter: ER2

russtopherb 6,228
Maybe I'm nuts, but I'd rather buy irons or drivers used, sight unseen than putters. The feel of those is just so personal to me. I like local stores where I can try them out before buying. 3 Quote In my carry bag: Big Bertha Mini (the D7 is in time out) GBB 3W (lofted to 4W) V-Series Heavenwood Baffler XL 5i-PW CBX 54* iWedge 58* #10 Twitter: @russtopherb

thatjasonlee 37
With counterfeit being such a big problem, I wonder how hard it is for companies to have a "verification" system. One where a serial number can be entered, and it tells you whether it's fake or not. Keep in mind, I am not sure what the cost of something like that would be for each company, and the benefits to them would be limited as it's really going to be used mostly be those looking to purchase second hand, which doesn't contribute to the company's bottom line. However, they may gain new customers that were loyal to other brands, but that's probably going to be limited. Did I just answer part of my own question?
Shankdog 12
I’ve both bought and sold on eBay. The big used club stores, like global golf, have eBay seller pages and you can often find clubs cheaper there than on the store site itself. I’ve done that to get good deals yet still have confidence that the seller will back up the purchase. As with anything used, buyer beware. If it’s too good to be true, don’t do it.
