Tiger Woods Injured in Crash

[Mod note: everyone has done well on this, but I wanted to jump in with a caution: obviously, there is going to be speculation about the cause of the accident. For everyone's sake, let's keep that to a minimum here.]

Once again, let's not speculate on the cause. This isn't about protecting Tiger. It's because we don't know; right now, we can't know, so by definition, we'll be arguing with absolutely no ability to

On Get Up this morning, Wojo, had spoken to a couple orthopedic surgeons who read the statement from the Chief Medical Officer on Tigers injuries.  The compared it to not unlike Alex Smith's injury in

Boy he can't seem to get a break recently. Between his recent back surgery and now this. Yikes! I feel for him and hope he's ok.

My immediate thoughts as well.  I was listening to Nance interviewing him at the Genesis and probing (as they all do) about how are you feeling and when are you returning. Tiger looked really tired to me... just kind of worn out.  Hope all works out OK.

This story is so bizzarre.  I know they are saying now that there was no sign of impairment but how this crash happened with no drug or alcohol impairment makes no sense.  I wish Tiger all the best and hope he is able to recover but so much about this makes no sense right now.

Of course, because of who he is, no one really wants to ask the tough questions and is hoping and praying that this wasnt related to drugs/alcohol.  Im just curious what the truth is.

I know people are immediately pointing to drugs but he may have been distracted driving or fell asleep at the wheel.
I can't even imagine what it's like to be him. Just always under the microscope

Distracted driving, unfamiliarity with the rental car he was driving, a mechanical failure with the car, etc etc.

There are plenty of other explanations for the accident that don't involve alcohol or drug use. It's easy to point to the prescription drugs given his issue with them in the past and that he was coming off back surgery but with the sheriff's department coming out and saying there was no indication of impairment, I think it's safe to rule that out.

More information will come out as the incident is investigated. It's all speculation now and the important thing is Tiger's recovery and that no one else was injured.

I used to live near that area. Very hilly, windy roads. Also, can be dark because not many streetlights, but it was past sunrise.

As someone who used to drive that stretch of road daily many years ago, its easy to lose track of your speed. And if you get distracted by a cell phone or changing a song or anything, it can happen in a flash.

All reports I’ve seen have said multiple leg fractures and he was in surgery. Hopefully not career ending because Sundays are electric with Tiger in the mix.

Not to mention it was 7am and he was probably still half asleep. I get up at 4am myself and even I'd be half asleep at 7am. Lol. I really hope it was that and not drugs. I dont love everything Tiger has done but I'm still a fan and someone who has an immense amount of respect for the man.
I hope he recovers and can play competitive golf at some point, if that's what he wants to do.

Hopefully with Tiger and anyone who suffers compound fractures will heal and recover without complications from infections and the like.

Infections are so dangerous.

Heal and get back to normal living.    Small steps.

A HS buddy of mine lives right around the corner from where the crash happened, and passed it early this morning, but obviously didn’t know who it was at the time. His house is the red dot, where the wreck happened is marked in yellow.

Unfortunately I think this injury combined with the recent back surgery will probably mean it will be a very long time before we see Tiger tee it up again and who knows if he will ever really be competitive again.
