Gary Woodland To Cobra!

Recommended Posts

https://www.golfdigest.com/story/gary-woodland-signs-equipment-deal-with-cobra

Cobra adds to their PGA lineup with Gary Woodland who despite not having the greatest seasons still shows flashes of brilliance often being one of our fantasy Golf sleepers!

Leaving Wilson who he had been with for years and now not sure what plyers are with Wilson?

What do you think of this move for Woodland and Cobra?

Wilson announced with week that Kisner and Mullinax were joining the team. Kisner playing all swinging clubs, Mullinax on Irons and Wedges.

Good get for Cobra though with Gary, always good to have a US Open champion on the roster when you can.

Cobras are underrated imho; have played some of their irons and hybrids in the past.

Maybe this can help raise their profile a bit (despite having Ricky and Lexi, I think?, as brand ambassadors).

I feel like that’s a good move for Cobra, he was already sponsored by Puma for clothing right?

hopefully he ends up being more visible than Dufner has been.

Hopefully he gets his form back. He is right around 100th in the world these days which is quite the fall from his peak which I think was top 15 in the world.

Interesting.  I always felt Woodland was a great fit for Wilson and vice-versa.  I wonder who they will get to replace him?

Gary was a class act while sporting the Wilson cap and I am sure he will do the same for Cobra. If history shows,,, not a full season golfer, but with a spike in particular parts of the season which makes for great marketing.

I hope the new cobra line suits Grays game and both are successful.

Wilson's signing of Kis and mulinax (sp?) is a win of the same kind.  Kevin is a great player that looks to be coming back and spiking like Gary. Where Trey is a newbie working to figure out how to win. If he does could a great investment for Wilson.

Driver - 44.5" 5.0 flex 10.5 deg Graphite Design XC 6S GP MCC4+ 1 deg closed

Irons - 5-pw, GW stnd length 5.0 flex same grip 1 deg flat. Type low medium offset cavity back, no diggers

Wedges - 56 and 60 tour grind wedge spinner and mcc4+ grip 2 flat 10 and 8 in bounce

Putter - Makefield VS LH

Ball - truvis

Carried in a Sun Mountain C-130 USA bag - BE PROUD.

HC - LH but 85 is a good number, playing in Ohio.

I missed an earlier post on who Wilson had picked up 🤦‍♂️.  Kisner and Mullinax are pretty decent replacements.

Ricky has been with Wilson forever. We are talking about Ricky Barnes, right? What other Ricky/Rickie is there?

Hopefully this is a joke because the Rickie being referred to is Rickie Fowler who has had a much better career than Barnes

Not sure it’s that big of a get. Yea he has a US Open but it’s only one of 4 pga tour wins. His game hasn’t been good in awhile and he didn’t do much for Wilson.

He brings a name. He has flashes and can put on a good weekend. Not a lot of big names there to sign and he seems to be a good get with what I would call pedigree. Not a superstar or top top player, however probably a lot less demanding than Bryson.

I think it fits with the pure distance vibe Cobra is going for, at least with its woods. If nothing else, Woodland hits the ball far. After reading what Ping had to do to create a set of one length irons for Bryson and some of the comments Bryson made about the clubs Cobra built for him, I don’t know why any company would sign him.

Yeah he has a name but he doesn’t have the ability to move equipment. Wilson tried hard to get him in their driver and they couldn’t. Now cobra has a better product in that department but he’s not around enough to generate eyes on the product.

He misses almost as many cuts as he makes. He does at least get some top 5 and top 25 in those but he’s overshadowed by stars and superstars.

Big fan of Woodland, especially after the "I got this" hole with Amy at the '19 Phoenix.  And Cobra is known as a land of woods so Woodland just seems to fit as part of solid marketing.

Good hand action comes from good body action.

Complete aside, but I'd like to shout out the crazed fan or family member I used to hear at a lot of tournaments who would belt out "We love you Gar-bear!" after his drives. I'd hear the same voice often at different tournaments. Gar-bear is an excellent nickname for anyone named Gary particularly those you wouldn't normally think of as huggers.

Finding a way to turn birdies into bogeys since 1992. #TeamChunks
