Good morning MGSpies and Happy Birthday  Rob @Golfspy_CG2 from as nice a morning here in WNY as Rob @rkj427 is having  in his neck of the woods as summer does seem to have found its way to the northern eastern states on this last Sunday before Memorial Day weekend.  Getting ready to head to Rochester area for session 3 of the PGA HOPE program and son is to arrive as we are finishing for our first 9 hole round for 2024, now that his college academia is behind him.  Hope golf is a part of your day!

Going to do some house work today, may try and go work on some chipping at the range. Definitely going to watch the final round of the PGA Championship today. Super packed at the top and hoping Xander gets his first. Hope everyone has a great day.

Mid-80s today, dry conditions (for a change) -- wonder how it will affect bounce/roll on fairways ad greens.  Grocery shopping at 8:00 a.m., golf at 12:30.  Should be a good day.

In between I have a new pest to confront -- hornets have built a nest inside a 4x4 support beam on the patio.  Didn't know the little critters burrowed like that.  Guess I'll zap with some spray before golf and fill in the holes with wood putty after.

Good morning everyone! 

I have a tee time for 12:45 and I'm looking forward to getting out on the course, it was a surprise as one of my friends got in touch with me yesterday to see if I wanted to play. The weather should be nice after it being rainy the last several days.

Happy birthday Rob @Golfspy_CG2! I hope it's a good one for you and it won't be long before we're teeing it up at Kingsmill.

Good morning all! It’s Day 2 of the commencement ceremonies for my daughter. Yesterday was convocation. Today will be spent at the big outdoor ceremony then loading up some of her stuff to bring back home before going out to dinner.

Good Sunday morning my friends…

Had a relatively easy day as grunt labor yesterday. After helping to load a few trucks ( pick-ups ) the volunteers were rewarded with a wonderful meal of Barria Tacos and freshly picked roasted ears of corn. 
  There was discussion amongst the female bosses of the event about having a shortage of help at a distribution center up north of us a few hours. After a bit of pondering I figured out that selfishly there were golf possibilities to be had. So… I volunteered myself and truck for Monday. A big bonus was having a couple of the female elites tell the wife person what a “ NICE “ person I was. It was great watching “ You-Know-Who “ respond by saying; “ That yes, that I could be a nice person “ while all the time looking at me with raised eyebrows. When we got into the vehicle to come home.. The “ She Being “ demanded to know; “ WHAT are you up to “… I just smiled at her and said; “ Just trying to be a caring adult “ and drove home…  Life is good, life is real good…..
   Golf today will  be after brunch and after all the weekend bunch /games get on the course. Supposedly it will  not feel like more than at 100° while playing today. 
    Enjoy your Sunday my friends. IF golf is involved then all the better.

Good morning spies! I hope your morning is good! I’m in some pain, my hip is sore from something….perhaps golf…I don’t know,

but the daughter unit wants to play today and I can’t turn down this opportunity. Lidocaine patches are the plan for today. Spousal unit has her long awaited surgery Tuesday so we’ll be in Denver all week. I may take a break from golf to heal up, although she’s making me bring my clubs. Such a great spousal unit. Tee time today is 11. Hope you’re day is blessed and happy birdie hunting!

Good Sunday Morning to everybody!!

No subterfuge needed here to get out on the golf course .. my wife wants to go and and we were able to grab a 12:50pm time amid the busy tee sheet.

It's just for 9 holes but that will be enough for today .. the old back and hips are trying to tell me to just sit and do nothing, but that's almost worse for me than light exercise

.. not sure how I'm gonna manage paying 18 x 4 days in a row on the Kingsmill trip but I guess that's what Advil is for!

Anyway... Hope everyone has a great day today .. golf or no golf!!

Good morning, and happy Sunday Spies!!

Woke up to a nice fog and some cool temps this morning. As I checked the hourly report to see how our 10:18am tee time was looking (sunny, btw), I noticed it was 100% humidity. 100%!!!! Ugh, I hate humidity. Hopefully once the sun burns through it will drop. I made sure to have some hydration powder for my water mug and a bottle of Powerade to ensure I don't sweat it all out. Temps will be in the mid 70's, but with the sun out and humidity high, dehydration will sneak up on you.

Got the new-to-me HZRDUS Smoke Blue RDX shaft in my BRNR Mini with new MCC+4 Mid grip, so I should be helping to get the most out of that thing now. I did not like the base shaft and small grip, at all. Plus I picked up a new HZRDUS Smoke Red RDX shaft for my 5w to match the 3w. Now all my shaft weights are in the proper progression from driver down. The 5w was 60g, which is what the driver is and my 3w was 70g. So now it goes 60g 70g, 70g, 90g from D-4H. Once I get my new irons, they'll have 95g shafts, which will work as a better progression compared to the 120g I have now.

I decided not to get new woods and hybrids in the Spring, and to look at a fitting in the fall to replace them instead. I didn't want to introduce too much new at once in the bag, as that can cause havoc for a while. So new irons and wedges now, along with the BRNR Mini. Plus, I'm hoping that Titleist comes out with their TSR replacements in the fall that might lower their TSR woods/hybrids even more. But that's a worry for another day.

Good morning everyone!

we are coming down from the weekend wedding festivities with @Byrnzee and his family. Had a great time celebrating the bride and groom and had a fun time golfing and hanging at the Airbnb. I’m off to see my family for the rest of the week who I haven’t seen in a while and taking the kids to a day trip to Disney.

Good morning guy! Up early today to watch the F1 race and feed the little guy. Managed to play a very odd 18 holes yesterday with a +14 FRONT 9 and a +2 back nine. I’ll blame it on a lack of focus as I was playing with some friends that aren’t very good and just casually joking around but still. Wow. Hoping to get another round in later this afternoon as the PGA winds down. Great day of sports today!

@Kenny B, sorry @cksurfdudethanks for the advice on going to golfetail, although I ordered a rain jacket yesterday I spent some time looking over their site and could really get in some trouble over there. They have some really good deals.

I’m reconfiguring my mini as well. I’m just waiting on the tip to arrive…

Once it’s here and epoxied on new shaft, the mini will be ready!

In our men’s golf assoc, we play a modified net Stableford.  Double Bogey or Worse (-1 pts.), Bogey (0 pts.), Par (1 pt.), Birdie (3 pts.), Eagle (5 pts.), D. Eagle (8 pts.).  Gross scores are entered on the preprinted scorecard. Based on a players “course handicap” there is a no dot, 1 dot, (or 2 dots for high hdcp) in the box for score entries  based on the hole difficulty (1 thru 18).  The dots represent the number of strokes one is given for that hole which is then subtracted by the computer (or manually) from the gross score to determine the net Stableford score for that hole.  The gross score is entered into GHIN for hdcp purposes.

The recent change to GHIN and WHS is that prior to January, a 9 hole score could be entered and would not be used to calculate hdcp until a second 9 hole score was entered for it to be combined with.  I know some that maybe entered a decent 9 hole score, then played 9 at another time, but had some bad holes so declared ‘this is going to be a practice round’ and not enter the score.  The new method is to take the lone 9 hole score and based on the ‘stroke differential’ (which is what is actually used in hdcp computations), and project what the 18 hoke differential would be.

GHIN is a  net double bogey system.  As a 11 hdcp with a course hdcp of 9, if I score triple bogey on any of the 9 toughest holes, my net score is a double bogey. This helps with limiting blowup holes and smooths the hdcp.

Summertime dry is here already. My drives now top out at least 20 yards further than they did in the first week in March, it was wet then. I am not alone.

Temperatures topped out a 104 in the Phoenix area, a new record. It was 101 when I got home from my 40-mile ride. 40 miles is perfect. It stops me on the Ken McDonald golf course. I stop and change water bottles then watch a tee box which is 20.3 miles from my house. 

Temps will top out at 99 which will keep the course empty so I may head out this afternoon. I can get in 18 in about 2.5 hours when I zip around by myself. 

I have never played Ken McDonald. I don't even know how to get there by car. Looks like a nice course though. Flat wide fairways with flat wide greens.

I have a membership at a golf course but I don’t belong to a golf “club” that sponsors members competitions, etc., so I’ve never faced the kind of hcp manipulation others have.  Even when I played in leagues I didn’t run into it.  Either I’m very lucky or just too trusting.  It’s scrambles with only one team per hole where I think more outright cheating goes on.

As I’ve mentioned before, I thought the old method of matching 9-hole rounds resulted in lower-than-accurate handicaps.  I also think the GHIN/WHS algorithm for converting 9 holes to 18 holes will probably get tweaked a few times over the next couple of years.

Good Sunday MGS Nation! Overcast, humid start to the day here: just got back from playing 9 at a local course I've not played since I started this odyssey 3 years ago! Had a great weekend as far as golf is concerned: Yesterday had a tee time at 0610, got to the course early to warm up/practice. While on the practice green, Mother Nature decided that she was finally going to make the weatherman correct and the heavens opened up. Well, I don't mind rain, but the intensity it was coming down, no thanks. I packed my gear and went home to catch up on some paperwork and yardwork. Well, around noon, it stopped raining.... so I called my home course Diamond Ridge and they told me to come on up at my leisure... and I did! Was able to get in a nice walk of 18 (Long Live the Pushcart Mafia!!) 

It only rained on course for about 30 minutes, so it wasn't hateful at all! 
Then to be able to play another 9 this morning... I wish every weekend was like this! .... crap. I just got the honey-do list!! I hope everyone has a great Sunday and is able to get in some of the PGA! Hit 'em straight MGS Nation!

Squeezing in golf when I can.. Tee time today for 2:45 and walking "yikes". Good thing is My wife bought me a Alphred V2 last August. I've been able to use it once since then, today will be round two with it. I found it to be extremely helpful to not have to push a cart (ClicGear 3.0). 

 

Tying to get a couple honey dues done before a 10am youth football meeting, then bugging out to the course. 

One chore done, fixed the wine cooler. This one was A #1 on the list as the wife likes her chilled and correct temperature wine. So far so good as it's cooling. This took a little longer as I didn't take a picture of the what wire goes where. Got it right on the 2nd try, I think.

It's nice little course, I wouldn't call it a hidden gem, but it's a nice course. I played it when lived there. 20 miles one way is a long ride considering the streets & or canals you can use. For some reason I thought you were in the west valley Sun City West area. that's a haul in a car let alone a on a bike. Nice work. Remember your sun screen.

Good Morning Spies,

Another warm one here, just got done mowing the lawn. Knocked it out early before it got too warm. Still way too hot by the time I was done  Just no time to get a round in this weekend, was able to get a sim round in yesterday at Valhalla, decided to get the "Pro" experience and play from the tips. Well... that was a bad idea. I suppose triple digits is normal for that type challenge LOL. A few more things to get done and probably just relaxing the rest of the evening.
