Good morning spies! No golf today as orange picking starts. A group of us go into a high dollar neighborhood (2 and 3 million dollar homes) built in an old Mesa orchard. We pick the fruit for local food banks and we get to keep some of these fantastic oranges as well. One couple has enough trees where we regularly get 3 tons of oranges, grapefruit, and tangerines out of their yard. Takes 3 days to pick it all with up to 20 pickers. Anyway it is good fun, good work, for a good cause. Wears my wife and I out though. 

Had a good time playing in the 3 club and a putter game yesterday and shot my usual score. Tells me I could ditch a third of the clubs in my bag with relative impunity.

Happy Thursday all!  Release Season is certainly in full swing now with the embargo up on the Cobra Darkspeed today!  Looking forward to watching some of those videos on lunch today and get the early reports.  My driver is now technically coming up on its 3rd birthday... so maybe there will be something in one of these drivers for me this year.

Good morning spies!

I started my membership at a 24/7 simulator yesterday; definitely a good winter investment. Was able to get in a solid session and shake off some of the rust. Looking forward to grinding over the next month or so and going as much as possible to prepare for the upcoming golf season.

Thursday means Community Call and Golf on TV so I'll definitely be tuning into both! Already need another cup of coffee then hopefully a somewhat easy day at work.

Good morning ..... fruit picking sounds like a good plan!  I'm a bit envious ....

It's cool today, but not cold enough to not play.  It's a bit windy, but not windy enough to not play.  But that rain forecast is doing double damage: I don't usually choose to play in the rain, and the course will likely keep us off if it does start to get wet.  They got doused on Tuesday and soggy conditions aren't any fun.

Had a funny yesterday:  took my grandson to the range to work on some things, and in his range bucket he found a ball with a logo on it - the logo of the high school team he plays for!  Took a pic and posted it in the team group chat to see if anyone 'fess's up to losing it in a place where the range guys could retrieve it and put it into the range ball rotation.  They will all be required to put their initials on the balls they're given next season!

His pending retirement has been known for awhile and a plan has been in place to act quickly.  Before the public announcement Saban supposedly met with the team to inform them, and told them a coach would be named within 72 hours.  We will see.  Supposedly family health issues.

Good morning! We probably got 2" of snow starting late last night and this morning. More is supposed to be coming combined with high winds. Last night I spent a little while writing up a procedure to get the generator going for my wife, in case she needs to do it while I'm not around. She appreciated it, but said that if the power is out I better be around! 

@Byrnzee - There's a 24/7 simulator near me and it's incredible to be able to go at 9 or 10PM after the kids go to bed! It's an HD golf simulator, which I had never heard of before. Not a ton of courses to play, but it has a few of the more well known ones. Anyway, you'll enjoy it!

@GolfSpy BOS - I didn't know Cobra was calling their 2024 lineup darkspeed! haha They come up with quite the names. I'll have to check out the designs today!

@EnderinAZ - Fruit picking sounds like a great cause! When we vacation in FL or AZ, I've always wondered what gets done with everyone's beautiful fruit trees and it's neat to hear they go to a good cause. I'm also glad/jealous to hear that you get to keep some! Fruit straight off the tree would be incredible.

Top of the morning y’all, a balmy 42° here in Florida today , going to a heat wave of 61° maybe , but still going to hit the course this afternoon, friends from up north in town and want to play a round so I’ll make the exception to play in the afternoon today , usually only play mornings keeping the rest of my day open ! Good morning all. Don't want to sound like a total heel but we have an excellent weather day for golf. Fog has burned off, light breeze, and forecast to be 70*. It all changes again starting tomorrow and through the weekend gets progressively worse. Typical weather roller coaster for this time of year...

SWMBO has graciously given me a day off, so I have made plans to take advantage of the opportunity while it exists! 

Might have to sneak by the local shop as well and check out some of the new eye candy being released. Not that I'm in the market for new equipment but never say never...

Good Thursday Morning Spies, 

Cold Start to the morning 46 degrees at 6:50am & 7am tee time. 

No wind made the 18 hole a nice walk. But that's cold for Orlando! Even Mickey covered his ears .  Putting was D minus this morning. 
61 degrees and cloudy now.  Enjoying a nice HOT cup of espresso, working from home today.

Being how last year was not the best year for reasons we will leave alone, this year I plan on getting back out to playing more and more and not trying to be the "big man" swinging out of my shoes. Learned doing that all the time is not conducive in the long run. I didn't play as much last year not just due to pain, but other reasons as well. Last month was the first time in a long time that my back didn't bother me after doing physical therapy. I'm excited to see where my game goes this year and hope to break 90 consistently. Good swinging out there folks.

Good morning all from a continuously snowing Wisconsin  we got 3 more inches last night and a winter storm watch kicking in tomorrow through Saturday morning with 40 - 50 mph potential winds. Can't wait! 

Early start to work this morning, then attended 8:15am church as our first grader had his first reading today, which he did a great job with! He read two of the prayer offerings (for those familiar with catholic mass). We are SUPER proud of how well he did, as at the beginning of the school year he really hadn't taken to reading yet and didn't like it at all.

Off work at 4pm today to clear more snow, full day tomorrow, then we are taking the boys to their first Badgers basketball game Saturday, provided the weather doesn't make travel impossible. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Good Morning spies,

Sad morning here with the exit of Bill the "GOAT" Belichick. I am excited to start the Pats new era with hope for the future, while watching Bill end up a a loaded contender to get them to the prize. 

I think the new era will start at Triggs in Prov. tomorrow at 11:40. I hope to check off Jan as I try to golf 12 months in NE again. Can we say Back to Back!!!!!!!!

The oranges, lemons, tangerines, pink grapefruit, and tangelos are simply amazing! We do not buy citrus in the stores anymore. My wife makes the "Sunshine lemon pie" from a whole lemon, peel and all using lemons picked right off the tree that is scrumptious!

We pulled about 800 pounds of fruit out of the yard this morning. 25 pickers and about 2.5 hours.

There's really great driving range, think it's called Stadium Golf, not 100% on that, but it's lit and has a pretty good golf shop attached last time I was there, but it's been a few years.

The first range I went to that got me wanting to play golf again is Stadium Golf! I have family that live up the hill from there. It is such a cool range on the side of the freeway.

Ah I got it right!!   

Funny Story, I was in town for a conference a few years ago.   Staying at the Hilton near Petco Park.   I had some free time but no car and no knowledge of the area.   At the time I was on WRX before I found MGS, Posted something about best range to go to etc.    One of the members answered stadium golf and where it was located.    I said thanks and was going to see if I cold get taxi etc.   A few minutes later I got a PM from him, saying he was planning on going up there and would be happy to pick me up a the hotel.  

I thought, sure get into a car in a town 2,000 miles from home, with some guy I've met except for 1 exchange on the internet!  What could  possibly go wrong? 

So naturally, I told him.   "Sound great, I'll be out front in 20 minutes"        

We had a great time, and I lived to tell about it. 

8 years later, we are very good friends, and on a return trip a couple months later for a meeting at Callaway, I called him up, we played Torrey Pines, and took him with me to a meeting I had planned at Callaway and he introduced me to wonders of the Costco Hot Dogs  

So yeah, I definitely remember that place

Ahh yes, the most beautiful thing on this earth... a Costco Hot Dog! That is an amazing story, and actually pretty indicative of San Diego as a city in general. For the most part, very friendly area of California compared to most others. I hope to one day have a great golf story like this one, and I am sure I will as I get out there more often.

Yeah, it's probably one of top 3 cities in the US.   Had a couple recent oportunties to work at a couple of the golf companies based there, if I was only 15 or 20 years younger, I would have jumped at it.

It really does.  Just ask the group of guys who have gone to the first two MGS outings in Maryland the Pinehurst and they will tell you the best part of those trips was meeting and hanging out with guys who were strangers before the weekend, but have become friends ever since.

Feel OK, thanks for asking.  My primary care doc said, when we got to his office today, that he had been reading my charts and heart surgeon's notes, and he was happy to shake my hand for surviving.  He re-emphasized that I can't do anything, except walk, until after the next procedure on Wednesday to put stents in two other arteries of my heart.  That's hard, because I feel like I could do most anything, so sitting around is not my normal routine.  

My wife is watching me like a hawk so I don't do anything stupid.  I just keep thinking about the 2024 MGS Outing at Kingsmill; don't want to miss it!!  It's going to be massive!!
