The Good Morning Thread

Good morning from cold, snowy, windy Wyoming! I have a 4 day weekend, but the weather isn’t cooperating for golf. So I guess I have to get on with the “honey do” list.

Good morning spies from a chilly Mesa. 34 degrees this morning with a bright cloud free sky. That thermal convection engine will be running on full with those clear skies. Warming the air close to the ground and it will gracefully rise like a hot air balloon. Unfortunately frigid air from the stratosphere will rush in to replace the warm air at ground level. We are looking at a 3 hour frost delay at the course I am playing this morning. It will be noon before we get off this morning.  Oh well I have been meaning to change the tuning machines on a Gretch guitar. Looks like I have the time today. 

Stay safe and warm today. Looks like the weather is disgusting pretty much everywhere in the north (why I left!)

Going to be interesting to see the Miami Dolphins play in negative temps at Kansas City this weekend. I cannot even imagine...

Hope everyone stays nice and toasty and enjoys the 3 day weekend. Hoping to get some time in the sim somewhere; it's been too long.

Rain, rain, rain ..... as noted previously I do not choose to play in the rain.  If I get caught in it, that's a different story.

On the other hand, I got scheduled for a Titleist fitting today - looking for a new fairway option - and my new Sun Mountain bag is scheduled for delivery today.  Guarantee ya' I play a round before Monday, and maybe two.

Good morning all and happy Friday!

Well, isn't that special, the new roller coaster ride arrived early...   70 degrees yesterday and 29* today! What a refreshing change of pace...

Fortunately, no moisture so other than a frigid wind chill, not sharing in all the shoveling fun going on up north. Were forecast for wintery mix Sunday which means ICE in our neck of the woods. Times like that makes snow an welcome alternative.

Everyone stay warm, safe and have as good a weekend as allowed by your local weather conditions.

Kinda funny story - as some old dudes do I got up a few times during the night to .. ya know .. participate in the last step of the body waste fluids elimination process (no that's not the funny part)...

..last one was at 03:45 am and when I wake again it's 05:45 am (yeah I seen to be on a regular two hour schedule a lotta nights .. but that's not the funny part either) and I notice my wife is still in bed and still seemingly asleep...

..so I'm started to speculate: A. Was I abducted by aliens and then mind-wiped after exactly 26 hours? (..and why 26 and not 24? Is 26 their alien "day"?) .. or B. Did the dementia just kick in and I have *absolute zero* recollection of Friday?? ..or C. Some other type of sci-fi time warp event??

..or could it be something more like .. D. Is the wife losing it and turned off her alarm thinking it's Saturday?

..so it's finally it's at this point after I've considered all those alternate scenarios that she gets up and says .. "Hey how did we both sleep through my alarm?"

 

So literally TGIF to everyone!!!

 

Well, back when I was your age, I had to stop drinking beer in the evening before I went to bed... at least that much beer!!!  I still have to get up in the middle of the night, but only once (ok, maybe twice if I have one beer).

Happy Friday Spies!

1st cup of coffee is gone and going for the 2nd AND 3rd. Cold today, dreary and haven’t seen the fire orb for many days now.

Hit a few balls in the net yesterday even though it was a frigid 32 degrees. Funny how ALL golf balls feel like TopFlite when they are cold.

Today is Kiss a Ginger Day….  - luckily my wife IS a ginger so I have that covered with no drama. Good luck to the rest of you should you decide to carpe diem.

Good morning from what feels like the frozen tundra. Drinking coffee from home today due to a snow day and no school and wheelchair basketball tournament in Whitewater this weekend was cancelled due to all the lovely stuff @Jnoble89was describing earlier. We have a few inches so far with several more yet to come and 30-40mph winds causing snow drifts taller than my Weimaraner. The worst part is the current temp of 4° (that’s Fahrenheit for our friends up north like @KC Golf) is probably the warmest it’s going to be for several days. I really need to move somewhere warmer. Hope everyone has a warmer day ahead than I do!

First CUP of coffee?  Amateur.  I'm almost done with my second pot.

No wonder I have to get up in the middle of the night about three times.  On the other hand, my urologist is a cute 35 year old, so checkups are always fun.

FYI current windchill makes it seem like -49F!  That is not a typo!  
Daytime High expected to -27F before Windchill!

Happy Friday Everyone!   Looking forward to a weekend of Wildcard--I refuse to give in to the Marketing of "Super Wildcard"--weekend.  The KC/Miami game should be fun to watch...at home in 72 degree climate controlled tamps of course.   Glad I already have Peacock, because I wouldn't have subscribed just to watch it.

Really not happy with what the networks are doing with the broadcasting. Moving stuff to subscription based is exactly the type of practice that led people to want to leave cable in the first place. Now we are expected to pay more to watch used to be normal tv. So dumb

Hey MGS! The holidays got me all out of sorts with my schedule but I think Im back in the saddle now and, if you look closely - I think it is still morning here for me, so good morning Spies! Ha! I think someone mentioned wildcard weekend... and as a life long Lions fan, Im looking forward to the game against the Rams. Im not much into the "Stafford is back for the first playoff game..." meh, whatever, good story I suppose. I just want to see our offense be healthy and the secondary play well. At any rate, its good to be back. Have a great day!!

Good morning fellow Spys (8:30 am for me in California).

Well, today is a huge day for me. I am still new here and have not shared a whole lot about myself outside of golf. But today, I have officially traveled an entire year around the sun without a drop of alcohol!

I am excited beyond belief and overcome with a sense of relief this morning. Strange road it was everybody. 

Now, back to the regularly scheduled programming!

I remember golfing down near McAllen a number of years ago and the wind one day was incredible... flagstick was nearly sideways!

If there were ever a football game where I would wish for both teams to lose, it would be this weekend’s KC Chiefs vs Miami Dolphins game, but of course that is not possible. I guess that I would just ever so slightly hope for a KC victory, although I don’t like either of those teams.

Time wise… You can always hope for a replay of their Christmas playoff game from back in the 70’s… Add that length of time or longer to the forecasted temperatures and you could very well get your wish of both teams losing… by FREEZING

Oh, I remember that game! Stenerud’s missed field goal at the end of regulation, and missed FGs by both Stenerud and Ypremian in OT before Garo finally hit his FG to win the game in about the 23rd or 24th minute of OT.
