I just noticed these for the 1st time, I'll go ahead and say I'm intrigued to try one of the 009 mini in a single bend graphite shaft.

I have the 002 Mid-Mallet and love it. That forged block of steel feels great, even on slight mishits. And the price can't be beat for  a fully forged/milled putter.

After reading the member reviewed post about Srixon ZX5/ZX7 combo irons, I can't stop thinking about Srixon irons. I've always wanted to try them, along with Mizuno for their superior feel (from what I hear anyway). I have a full set of Recoil Proto 125 shafts with no heads yet that may be destined for some Srixon irons. If I can find some heads only at a good price. Time to go virtual shopping. 🙂

Thinking about buying a new 60 deg wedge.  Looking for a flexible 60 that can be used mostly in a bunker but can also help when short sided in the rough our on a tight lie.

Have a Vokey M grind in my head, but I think I should try a newer TM or Callaway.  Indi?  Edel?  Not looking to break the bank.

Interested in the ball test results releasing tomorrow, as I am looking to try something new and these results will help me narrow down what that will be.

48 degree gap wedge to go along with the new irons that will be arriving, hopefully soon. TBD on make/model.

As happy as I’ve been with the Paradym TD fairway woods, I may look into a 19 or 20 degree hybrid, to use under certain conditions, as the fairways have some adjustability which could give me some flexibility in how I set the bag up

... Yup, looking forward to reading it. But "looking" is all I'll be doing. I have 4 dozen Maxfli Tours and 5 dozen Kirkland V3's with a mix of 10 already in my bag. With this heat I am lucky to play once a week, so these should last me awhile. 🤪

Looking at a new putter to replace the Evnroll/Ping Anser. I am putting pretty decent with Ping but it needs a new shaft. Should I go with the most wanted Cleveland or Newport 2?

as for the Cleveland vs Newport; how much do you want to spend?   Steel vs steel or Cleveland with the all in shaft?   Personally I’d go Cleveland; I’m over the Cameron fascination 🤪

I listened to a podcast yesterday about putter shaft flex and it makes me want to do some experimentation.   While the numbers would probably be very mechanical thinking for analysis I wonder how different flex and weight shafts would influence the feel of the putter.   I have done a little of this when I went through a Edel fitting where they placed weight at various places at the grip end.   I see stroke lab shafts which are on in the 70 gram weight versus a typical steel at 110-130gr.   The biggest difficulty would be setting up the test with a single head.  Probably going to see if there is a lightweight steel putter shaft that I can install to see what it does.   Wonder if there a a database of putter shaft profiles like there is for regular shafts 🤪. Maybe I am overthinking this a little.  😂

You are like Rory, one slight Scotty fascination then back to a TM putter or something else.  Sadly we are not earning $4 mm getting rid of our brief Cameron fascination! 🤣

BTW, I am still sticking with my Scotty.. I still have faith! 🤣  it’s actually rolling well and on line, I just can’t get the pace right.  Putting mediocre short putts…

This is really something I would like to try too.  These ultra stiff putter shafts have intrigued me too.  Weight and stiffness.  I have no clue how it might or might not improve my putting.

You can never overthink your putter… it’s the key club in your bag.  Will be interested to see your results.

It’s interesting but I don’t honk any of the fitters near me have a shaft putter fitting as an option.

Haven’t seen it anywhere.  Except for Edel putter shafts are typically bonded and can’t easily be swapped.

I’ve read that article, kind of more interested in flex aspect.   Weight would be tied more to moving weight from the shaft and under the hands….basically like stroke lab.

... Other than a purely mechanical stroke, most putting styles work best with the right balance. Weighting plays a role as does head weight and counter balancing. I hold my putter so lightly it can be pulled from my hands with minimal effort. I let my arms hang naturally so there is no manipulation, just a simple mini swing back and forward. Without a decnt amount of toe hang, the putter simply won't work for me. I also prefer a heavier putter since I let the weight basically swing itself like a pendulum. When I pick up a putter, with one practice stroke I instantly know if it has a good balance for me. Not only by feel, but the head will travel on a arc path without wavering off the line, while a putter that isn't well balanced for my stroke will have the head wandering off it's line almost immediately.

... If you can find the style of putter that works best with your unique putting stroke, a faux straight back straight through (no such thing as a true SBST) a slight arc or a heavy arc, you will be able to putt your best. I know some go back and forth between styles and that is a recipe for struggling on the greens.

Why not replace the shaft?

as for the Cleveland vs Newport; how much do you want to spend?   Steel vs steel or Cleveland with the all in shaft?   Personally I’d go Cleveland; I’m over the Cameron fascination 🤪

I might get the shaft replaced. I have read where it is a odd hosel diameter. I like my putter quite a bit but I would consider something else that feels right. I'm just not sure if I can upgrade the shaft in the Ping. I need to sell my Evnroll mid lock before I do anything.

Pings do have odd shaft diameters; .345 I think.   You could always call Ping and see if they will send you a replacement shaft or if you could send it to them.

The podcast I listened to about putter shaft flex supported exactly what you are saying.   I think the balance you describe is also created by the flex in the shaft.  Even purely mechanical strokes need a certain balance and feel….this feel is often the stiffer feel provided by the stability shafts.   The person being interviewed worked for Arnold Palmer and talked about how he experimented with shafts and weights to get the right feel and “balance”.   He also got into the TP Mills pencil shafts and Cameron YSC shaft and the feel they created and how all the variables of a putter fit together to create what a player wants and how the stroke is altered if it isn’t.

I was going to check in with Ping about it. I thought I read it was .395 but I really don't remember. I also like the idea of something new and shiny....

I think Cameron’s are the .395.  When I contacted Ping about putter tip size in the past the one I was asking about was .345…it was smaller than typical becuase  i considered sanding the tip down.

I have a straight stock shaft on my Scotty, so I hadn’t thought about shaft tip diameter.  Do you have to buy a tip to fit all these after market shafts?  Some clearly say they don’t fit a Scotty.

I don't know of any tip for putters like that, that would not be cumbersome. You could mill your putter out, but I'm not sure that would be a good idea.

Thanks.
Definitely not drilling out a Scotty head to test various shafts.  Not remotely handy or brave enough to try that! 😂

It depends on the putter,  the all graphite shafts are mostly .370 since most putters use this tip size.  Some have a .355 option but that is rarer; I think Cameron’s are a mix of .355 and .390 depending on hosel type.    With the shaftsthat come with a steel tip you can either buy the right size tip or cut the shaft you currently have and epoxy the stub onto the end.   IF buying from an official reseller they would be able to help identify the right size for your putter or get a set of digital calipers and measure,

the other consideration is if the shaft is inserted or fits over a post.   There aren’t any all graphite that are shaft over hosel.   LA Golf makes a SOHO graphite shaft but that has a steel core wrapped in graphite.
