^^^ What Chris said. On the first page of the GHIN app you'll see the "Handicap Calculator" mid right - that'll take you to the next page where you enter the course name then the set of tees you're playing from. In the events I play they'll take a % of that - generally 90%.

I know a lot of cars it's behind the glove box, but you can drop it with a couple of tabs, so still pretty easy.

But speaking of dumb placement, we had a 2009 Yukon that instructed you to take the entire front bumper and fascia off to replace the driver side headlight bulb.  Wound up taking it to a friend with a lift, pulling the wheel liner, and rigging a tool to get to the assembly.

On Acadia bought skinny long armed dude at work lunch we unhooked half of inner fender liner and he go go gadgeted the old bulb out and new bulb in. best 7-8 bucks I ever spent.

GHIN

I'm curious on how other courses calculate your handicap for a tournament.   Do they simply use what GHIN says?  Do they adjust it based on their course level?

The reason I am asking is -

My GHIN 28.7

Ridgemont Country Club - GHIN shows my handicap at 35

Which one do they use?  How do they know how to calculate the difference for their course?

If they don't calculate it based on their course I am at a disadvantage?  How do I get them to adjust it if they do?

Thank you in advance for any assistance!

Sounds like you will be playing either a tougher course (ie, higher slope rating) or longer tees, or some combination of the 2 than you typically play.  Don’t let that throw you off as you’ll get more strokes as a result.

Although some here on the forum may not be old enough to have seen it when it was first released, Caddyshack turned 43 this week.

July 25,1980 release

'Bushwood Country Club', supposedly in 'Nebraska' was Rolling Hills Golf and Tennis Club, which is now Grande Oaks Golf Club, 3501 West Rolling Hills Circle at South West 36th Street, Davie, about ten miles from downtown Fort Lauderdale

Great movie!!

Applied for yet another position last night.

As most or some know my day job is an ice technician for curling halls and events. I have been extremely fortunate to make ice for 12 different World Curling Federation events travel all over the world as part of it.

Roughly 4 years ago the WCF created a technical commission to help shape and guide the future of curling halls, ice technician requirements and more. I applied, but missed out as only one ice tech from a country could be selected and living in Canada there were many other more experienced and qualified ice techs.

Now living in Switzerland there are 3 of us qualified, one doesn't want to be part of this and other just stepped down so I feel my chances are much better.

I also feel I'm better round as an Ice technician and developed a lot more skills and more, especially with my mod role here.

I'm excited for what could happen with this and although it makes no change to my day job or work here it could give me the opportunity to travel a bit more and help shape how the future of curling goes in years to come.

Good luck, hope you get the job!!

GM & Happy Friday!!  7:02 Tee Time this morning.  STILL hot & humid in mid Fl, hope a thunderstorm comes thru later today to cool things off a bit.
The neighborhood trapping operation so far has 3 Raccoons & 1 opossum, I think there’s a 1 Raccoon left.  They will be a lot happier In Ocala Forest than in a Senior Community.
Everyone have a great day no matter what you do👍

Chiro today for some knee and foot soreness. Turns out my quads, abductors and hips are super tight. Getting a mobility routine from him to recover my knee and gain more flexibility. Interestingly, one test he had me do was extension of the hips. My lead hip was too tight and lead my back to arch more. Picture a golf swing, when your downswing lead leg is turning, that is the movement I am describing. Basically, light bulb went off of a reason i struggle with early extension. Hoping this new routine will loosen me up and I can swing more freely.

What're your thoughts on the "Honor System" for golf course rates? I am currently staying with my grandma and there is a golf course with sand greens behind her house. I looked up the course online and I saw that there is an honor system, so you just pay what you think you should pay and walk out onto the course. I want to play golf tomorrow morning before my grandma wakes up, and I figured that I would go out and play a quick round.

If you like the idea of this system, what do you think the minimum payment should be to play? Would you pay if you only walked?

We had those in Yuma, AZ during Covid and they had a slot in the pro shop door for cash payment.  They did post the price (which was ridiculosly cheap) and everyone I saw and played with was being honorable.

If you can look up what their normal rates are, that might help you decide on the appropriate amount.

My lead hip will actually catch and then suddenly release with a bit of a "pop" on the downswing occasionally. Basically makes it difficult for me to get my lead hip to go backwards in a sense. Sounds similar.

Been a fun week and such, but still getting into routine with the little one. Hopefully as things continue we get to a more predictable state and I can hopefully interact more and on the level I would prefer to be at. Well we're almost ready for the big move! We sold our Ohio condo - it was an unsolicited offer with an absurdly high price and delayed close. We hadn't planned on selling it but it was getting a bit pricey to maintain so why not - we can rent a place here for visiting our kids . The last time we moved was when we sold our previous house 3 years ago but that house was just a 1/2 mile away. I thought we got rid of a lot of stuff then, nope, even more stuff to get rid of, especially since our Florida condo is fully furnished. It seems like I'm making almost daily trips to Portage Resale, which benefits local charities. Suits, my wife's evening dresses, lots and lots of kitchen stuff and the list goes on. However, there are some things that make sense moving, art pieces, lg tv's, her summer golf wear (no idea where she's going to put stuff) plus lots of golf stuff including 4 (2 of which are almost brand new) golf bags.

We just sold our 2 bedroom sets - so we're sleeping on the pull out couch til  August 24th.  Our kids asked for some of the stuff like living room couches/tables, outdoor furniture, etc. The balance of our giveaway 'stuff' will be picked up by 'Restore' (Habitat for Humanity) next week.  A small Pods unit is being delivered on the 17th, so we'll have a few days to fill it before they haul it away on the 24th.

This is a bittersweet moment for me 😢. On one hand I like the idea of having the proceeds as a safety net as well as the reduced expenses, on the other hand we've been in the area for 17 yrs, and leaving lots of golfing and boating friends, not to mention great summer weather. Stay tuned for the update on our transition.

Best of luck with everything there Tony.

Remember that as one window closes, another door opens, and everything does seem to work out.

Great thing to do with the donations as well.

Experiencing AZ's hottest summer ever (nice way to break in newbie's 🤪), we've already started looking at high elevation options for summer months; to include condo's.  However, unless one can rent the non personal use months, the math really dosen't work out well.  I'm focusing on snow ski areas.

Best of luck with the move/downsizing.  It’s a bit unnerving at 1st but it’ll all work itself out.

Rick

Well we're almost ready for the big move! We sold our Ohio condo - it was an unsolicited offer with an absurdly high price and delayed close. We hadn't planned on selling it but it was getting a bit pricey to maintain so why not - we can rent a place here for visiting our kids . The last time we moved was when we sold our previous house 3 years ago but that house was just a 1/2 mile away. I thought we got rid of a lot of stuff then, nope, even more stuff to get rid of, especially since our Florida condo is fully furnished. With the unexpected windfall from selling the condo maybe a climate control storage at least for a while when u get moved into Florida and see what will fit and what wont, what you can do without and what you cant and most importantly what you refuse to part with even if it means paying for long term storage. Just a thought.

IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR!

You know the time. It's getting close to finishing up work for the day and head to the course. You're all excited to give it four more attempts to get out of the Acless thread, your about to change and get ready then Mother Nature rolls in an afternoon thunderstorm and heavy rain.  😩 Can't even go to the back-up plan of relaxing pool side.

So plan C means that you can surf MGS all afternoon, right? 🤔

In all seriousness, that does suck. Spend all day building anticipation just to get denied last minute. BTW, I’ve never thought of it as four chances to get out of the Aceless Thread. That’s a cool take.

Back to plan A. Fast storm. My daughter texted me from the golf course and wants me to play with her in the twilight league at 6:00. It’s only 9 holes but at least that’s two chances. Back to getting changed for golf.

Have fun out there and I'm glad you're getting another chance to play with your daughter.
