Hey MGS Forum,

 

Officially introducing myself, first time poster, long time lurker!

 

I currently reside in Sooke, BC on Vancouver Island (just west of Victoria). One of the best climates in Canada to experience year round golf. Many fantastic courses here.

 

Long story short, I love this sport, always have since logging 100+ rounds as a 13 year old junior way back when. Unfortunately, in the 17 years since, I have logged about 60. Fluctuating handicap, have been as low as 10, but lately hover around 15. Being out of shape makes a huge difference in my game.

 

Ping fanboy for anything irons/wedge/putter. Taylormade convert for anything fairway/driver. Always looking for new ways to improve my game. Have started using SuperSpeed golf training sticks to up my swing speed. ShotScope V2 to accurately log yardages/tendencies. I believe that technology has a huge part in todays game and helping the average golfer.

 

Always up to walk on as a single and meet locals on the course, develop some great connections that way.

I really like your name because it's so nostalgic to me.

 

One of my favorite hangouts when I was college age was  Joe Patti's Sanitary Barber Shop,

right near the old Boston Garden and Rip Valenti's New Garden Gym where I used to train. 

 

My barber,  who had a chair at Mr. Pattis' shop, was a high school friend and a bar band singer at night.

[He just passed last November.]

 

A few of the Bruins hockey players got haircuts there.  We'd walk over to nearby Jack Sharkey's to shoot the s*** over a drink. 

 

A few of the North End's finest "legitimate businessmen" came into Mr. Patti's shop for haircuts as well.

 

Memories.

 

I've only been to Vancouver once when a close friend's son married a nice girl from there. 

From there, we spent a few days in San Francisco.

It was a big treat for my wife, because whenever we got on a west bound plane, it never had enough fuel to get past Las Vegas.

Cordova is a frustration for me and my fade...must have been a lefty that designed it with all of the right hand draw hole layouts!
