@Kenny B Torrey Pines was great! The greens were still faster than ever. A lot of my chips kept rolling off unfortunately, but that's what happens when you play and practice on slow greens. We booked another tee time for Father's Day, so I know what to work on when I return.

I did the same thing as a kid I played hockey and standing that far from the ball was the only way to stop slicing and got me hitting a draw. I have tried to get more golf swing but it has been slow transition, though the ball flight is more neutral when I put a good swing on it.

Yea, this is the way I will be going forward. It is discouraging to me.

Lots going on today.  Have to take my wife’s car in for oil change and check up for our cross country trip to the MGS Kingsmill outing.  We leave next week.  She gave up he Tuesday golf game with the Ladies to play golf with me today… we always play golf together on our birthdays and anniversaries!  Looks like another gorgeous 85º sunny day.  After golf I’m taking her to her heart doctor appointment and picking up her car before we head out for an Italian dinner at Europa restaurant.  

Best wishes for a terrific Tuesday everyone and thanks for the birthday wishes.  I might take a mulligan… you can take one to!!

The best "cheat" opportunity I saw at a scramble was they brought in a female pro (PGA teaching pro) and you could donate $20 per player to have her hit a shot for you on a mid range par three and then use her shot instead of yours. If you beat her shot, you won like half the money your 4-some donated. It was fun and the money went to the organization. The worst has to be the buying mulligans approach or buying a certain amount of string to finish those putts you missed for birdie or eagle. Too wide open for cheating.

Sweet! I tried to volunteer for the Open at Pinehurst next month, but didn't get my name in soon enough. That volunteer goodie bag had a very nice price tag at Pinehurst; guessing it's similar for the Senior.

Morning all! Enjoying a (late) cup of coffee this morning because I woke up and realized we had run out of coffee yesterday so there was non in the house. So, a morning trip to Starbucks and dropping some returns off for my wife at UPS and now I’m back home and ready to get the day going. Hoping to play a round of golf later today but don’t currently have a tee time. Super excited for all those selected for the Venus test and looking forward to seeing those reviews start to roll in!

I paid 100 and the gear I got is def worth more than that. But I didn't do it for the swag; I just wanted to try it and it sounds like a cool experience. Have never done it before.

Good morning all!

It’s beautiful sunny day here in CNY which is a tease because we have about a 1/2 inch of rain headed our way tomorrow. That is particularly upsetting because that means my league night will most likely be cancelled. 

All in all just trying to stay focused for our vacation starting Thursday. Looking forward to getting out of town for a week or so.

I think it was 275 at Pinehurst, somewhere in the 2's. It was mandatory for all volunteers. Pinehurst will host the Open again in 2029. I'll be sure to get my name in earlier next time, and budget for the goodie bag. Closest I've come to that is volunteering at a couple of marathons, but nowhere near a national championship event.

Edit: Found the price for the goodie bag: $240.75. So it had a 2 and a 75, just not together. Two shirts, one jacket, your choice of style of hat, a water bottle, drawstring bag, commemorative lapel pin and a volunteer credential for all seven days. I guess you can wander the course when not on duty.

I will say yesterday, they did have compression gun for one of the holes, and that was awesome. It was $10 a person and the money went to the Make-A-Wish foundation, so we had no problem doing that, but the out right cheating is something I cant get down with.

Good morning spies! No golf today but I did play a passible round yesterday with an 83. But a scorecard screw up by one of the guys on my team probably cost me 20 bucks in winnings. It happens. I remembered what was working so well before the latest surgery and put that back into my swing. The results were predictable. I played well. I have been working on using the Max Alignment Technology marking on the Maxfli Tour X golf balls I tested. And, although it feels weird I have been having great success. 

@Samuel09152 I quit playing the scrambles here in Mesa during the winter months because of the cheating. I don't mind being beat by a legitimate score. But, I once made a long putt, measured at 87 feet and was literally as far from the hole as anyone could physically be and still be on the putting surface, and was beat out by these guys by 10 feet. When I protested the guy from the golf shop running the tournament shrugged and said he had to trust what was written on the long putt card. 

Yeah that was my last non men's club tournament.

@GolfSpy_KFT you are not alone or experiencing anything new.   I coached little league, 8 to 10 year old's for a season. Got roped into it because the original coach got tossed in jail, and my son and a handful of other boys were not going to be able to play because no one would step forward and coach. Working with the boys was great. Dealing with the parents was horrible.

Compression gun? Not understanding the concept here.

Learned last night I get to get back on the airplane Sunday morning. Flying to SoCal to work in Victorville for three days. Haven't been to SoCal since 1995, and never to San Bernardino County, so this will be interesting. It's getting to where my monthly schedule is the NC circuit for a week, then a trip somewhere random, another NC circuit, and finally a week at home. All of which makes Rypstick/Fit For Golf somewhat problematic.

@ILMgolfnut the compression gun is cool.  It's basically a long cylinder tube and you drop a golf ball inside the tube.  The handle is a trigger.  You aim the cylinder towards your target - the green - and pull the trigger.  The ball will fly 320 to 375 yds.  We did it a couple of years ago and one ball landed 9ft from the pin.  The winner was like 3ft.  It's pretty cool.

I’ve had this before too. They use an adapter with the gun to shoot your ball. Mine used a blank cartridge with an AR-15. Shot the ball to the green almost 400 yards away.

Oh okay, like a T-shirt cannon I've seen at basketball games. I remember seeing that a cheerleader at one school was injured when the T-shirt cannon went haywire, so you gotta be careful with those things.

I'm not sure what my driver length is. My fitter didn't mark any changes, but I also have one of those Mizuno adapters where you can tweak the loft, so not sure what that did to the length.

A morning spent on studying, and a full day ahead of it as well with my sociology final this week. I will be more than happy when this class is over and done. No clue what class is next though, kind of weirdly hoping for something statistical. We will see.

There is a photo on how you can measure it, so if you have a tape measure and a flat edge, you should be able to get good number for length.  Hope that helps.

OK. Not sure what you mean by a flat edge. I have a tape measure, but it's back at the Casa and I don't get home until Friday night. I think from the photo I could probably do it with just the tape measure.

Good morning! Or good lunch, or good whatever everybody   I don't know how this thread works but here goes.

I played 9 in the rain last night, and actually played well. I did well in the rain last year too. I didn't realize it, but I could be a good rain player. Right and left hand rain gloves for the win. And I start a golf trip tomorrow morning, woohoo! One of my two leagues is tonight also. So I could actually be playing 5 days a week this week which has not happened since high school, crazy. But I need to get ready for the trip (we're making all the meals), there is more rain coming and timed just right, and I believe I'm not scoring on our team tonight anyway, so I'll use my time to prep for the trip. There looks like rain on 2 of our 3 days as well so it will probably be enough wet golf!

By the way, when we got back to the clubhouse yesterday, it seemed that the rest of the league bailed. I don't know if it's technically cancelled yet, probably so. But if not, we'll get a win and I get 2 closest to the pins! 

Since you're talking about tournaments, I had a good scramble tournament experience recently in case anyone wants to hear. Of course no idea about cheating or whatever, and I don't think I've been in the top flight ever. But it was a good time.

@Mr_BogeyPro - Are you doing the Moe Norman style or are you not standing that far away? I've been using the Moe Norman swing for about 2.5 years, so I'm always curious to find others! 

@Preeway - Congrats on the Ventus testing opportunity! Great group of testers for that one and it'll be interesting to compare one of their older models to the new one! Good luck and have fun!

@jbern I guess it can be considered the Moe Norman way. Not as single plane, but it is not a conventional swing either. I have been playing for 25 years and self taught. So I am thinking it is a combination....I will call it my style LOL It seems to be working and consistent. I am going out Friday, so that will be the test.

Should modify something I posted recently about my tournament experience. When I was a journalism major in college and working in the press box at football games, we often had a media scramble on Saturday morning before night games, and I did that for four years. There were no prizes, just an excuse to get out on the course and have some fun, which is why I didn't think of it. I often got put on the team with the team's radio announcer, who had played college golf at Iowa. I used to kid him that his back must be sore from carrying me every Saturday morning. But I remember one morning our best drive on a par 4 was in a fairway bunker, about 90 yards out (the rest of them must have really sucked). I hit the bunker shot of my life which stopped a foot from the cup. The group in front of me picked up my ball as we drove up the fairway and said "Nice shot, Jeff." I would have liked to cap that off by making the putt. Or at least see where it actually stopped.

Got done with some work obligations and currently sitting on 7 tee box waiting on a group.  Been a stress free 5.5 holes. Hit into the bunker on number 3 par 3 but got out to a tap in par. 

Woods and irons are working well.
