GM, up at usual time and starting my first cup of coffee.  I have a dentist appointment at 7am.  Great way to start my day!  Good news is that it's close to the golf course, so I can stop there afterwards.

Up and at 'em, bright and early. Tee time is a couple hours earlier than my normal, so trying to get things done earlier than normal.

Post in GM thread, check. Coffee next.

Not me!  Coffee first.  Then post in GM thread.
Nothing makes sense without the first cup of coffee.

Last time I played Caledonia there were a bunch of hecklers on the deck. My buddy and I typically decide up front, putt everything or inside the leather is good. That day it was putt everything. Coming into the green he had a long putt and left it about 18 inches short. As he approached the second put the deck started yelling out " Are you going to make him putt that" Quickly thinking I responded " For $1000.00 your dam right. It was silent in less than a second. He made the putt and they all cheered.  I beat him anyway but it was a fun thing to do with the crowd.

I'm surprise somebody on the deck didn't yell out "Hey Smails!  Thousand bucks you miss that putt!"  🤣

My daughter is a jumper and does the heptathlon for Belmont Abbey college outside of Charlotte. She does high jump, long jump, triple jump, 100-meter hurdles normally. Then when she is in a heptathlon they add in javelin, shot put, and a 400-meter run. She is actually doing quite well for a sophomore. Broke the school record for the most points for the school in a heptathlon a couple weeks ago. Also within a couple of inches of the record for triple jump. She has a meet tomorrow then next week is the conference championships in Myrtle in which she qualified for three events.

Very cool! Hope she sticks with it and starts taking down those records!

She is totally enjoying it and I'm sure she will stick with it. The most important part is getting a good education. She doesn't take after me on the school side, athletics yes, but I had to work hard to make good grades. She is a straight "A" student. Hopefully she lands a good job in a couple years and can take care of me in my old age (I'm not that old yet, but I'm planning for the future!).

Absolutely. Someone needs to fund all of that golf in your retirement years!

There’re everywhere here and all have the young colts with them.  We are used to them cutting thru our yard back and forth thru the golf courses.  They are definitely not afraid of humans!

They don't land here, at least not on out course.  They fly at pretty high altitudes but they are easy to hear.

However, our Canadian neighbors showed up this week with their babies...

Fixtures here all year long and not afraid of people.  Illegal to harass them, since we are an International Audubon Society golf course.  Goose poop is something we put up with, but it's one of the negatives for this course.

I made up a "local rule"... You get relief if your ball is next to goose poop that would be struck during your swing.  💩

The greens are not bad.  The greens are mowed every morning and the noise keeps them off until the first groups get there.  There is an occasional "slick" but that's dried up after an hour or so.

We need automation for this. Little robots that go around and scoop it.

Brand it like a little hamburgler knock-off and name it "The Turd Burglar"

Ir also works if swing speed is low and/or can't control the ball spin; doesn't spin when you want it and spins when you want it to rollout.  Just need opening into green without bunkers.

Our greens are so sparse and hard right now Mickelson could not stop one with a 64*

There's a military man on Founders at Pawleys Island SC - hole 8 - he gathers balls and sells them 3/$1 right by the tee boxes.  He donated all the money to Toys for Tots.

We bought quite a few with all the water on courses in the area.  My husband didn't cry 😭 when he lost a "33¢ ball compared to his $4 balls!!

That’s cool when people do that.  There’s a number of them here, they put the balls out and you take them and place cash in the jar, all honor system.

Yep I used to play there all the time. One time we were waiting and I was picking through the balls  and pulling out the older 384 Pro Vs. He asked me if I knew they were the older Pro V 1 s . I told him yep that was what I was looking for. He said wait and went to his house and had 2 Kroger cloth bags full. Told me give me $5 I gave him 10
