Good Wednesday morning Spies!

Another warm one today but only in the low 90's considerably cooler than the 100's of just couple of weeks ago. Hope to get out for a little range session with the new GT driver this afternoon, however, i have a few tasks to take care of by order of the CEO before i can entertain that notion...

Looks like Cooper has made himself right at home @MattWillGolf.

Good to see that pushing the limit a bit yesterday didn't appear to cause any harm @BIG STU.

Good morning folks! 

Another rainy day but looks like it's gonna clear up this evening with another band coming through tomorrow. Weekend looks great though! Was hoping to get a round of golf in, but looks like my wife has made us other plans but got roughly 2.5 hours both days to get some practice in with my LM and net while the kiddo is napping. 

Just ordered a Graphite Design UB-6S to try in place of my IZ-5. I was fit to the VF but have struggled with launch angles and the stiffness of it since I got it and got a deal on the IZ--hit some great shots with it, and some of my longest every, but equally hit my most nasty ones with it. More left and balloon misses now, so figured I would try something in a similar profile to the VF with the stiffer tip but more mid launch and spin. Hoping it's the goldilocks in the middle of the two drastic different profiles.

Good morning, Spies!!

Today has started ok. It's a bit overcast and foggy, humid, but cool. I had a 6-month blood work check up as well. Mixed results, but more good than not and nothing really bad. Just a few things to tweak in my routine and diet to alter a few numbers more towards the good. Upside is that I don't need to see the doc for bloodwork for a year (it's been every 6 months for the last 18). I just need to keep doing good and get more active and all will continue to be good and get better.

Looks like we should have a good weekend for golf, which is great. I haven't played in a couple weeks and need to get back on the course. We only have so many rounds left in the season, so I need to try and get as many in as possible. I'm still trying to figure out why the right side of my neck and shoulder tightened up the last round I played. It's never happened before and I'm not exactly sure why it happened. Just weird.

Good morning Spies!

Checking in after the first office commute in a couple months. Wasn’t too terrible, but I already miss wearing shorts and a t-shirt and being at home with the pup. Work day shouldn’t be too bad and hopefully I can get out at a reasonable time later on. 

Hit up the range yesterday, but still struggling to see the consistency I want. Hoping my Skillest instructor can get me back on track in the near future. No golf on the agenda for the next couple days, but might try to sneak out one more time Saturday before my Sunday tee time.

Good morning spy's..I posted this in another spot but liked it so much I had to move it over here...

 

I have been reading this thread with @vandyland and a few others, i am struggling understanding why golfers would get "vanity" handicaps or "higher" handicaps..

Golf is the one sport I have played where there is a mechanism in place that enables players of all levels to potentially compete against each other on a "fairly" close playing field. 

I can't play tennis against a professional tennis player and have a "match" or a professional squash player and have a match (just a couple of games that come to my mind at 6:57 am PST)

However if Tiger woods wants to play a match, he is a +10 and I am a 2, he has to give me 12 strokes, and will most likely dust me but whatever...

I truly believe that the R&A and the USGA and the governing bodies have set up a system that is in the best interest of the game, and I also believe that 75-80% of golfers that keep a handicap do so with integrity, probably more maybe 90-95%.

In my lifetime "sandbaggers" have been quietly identified and monitored by the members of their clubs and get called out at some point.

Fun day today.    Have had a recurring leak in my sunroom that has been “fixed” multiple times and continues to leak.  seems to be a difficult one to track down since there isn’t a way to access the space between the ceiling and roof.  Then I walked into my spare bedroom and stepped in a puddle of water.  Went into the attic and I found another leak.   No vent or roof penetration nearby so it must be the shingles.  Supposed to rain for the rest of the week so it will probably be a little while before I can get a roofer  back out to look and try to fix.  
 

at least I get to go,do a putter test this afternoon.

Two reasons I can think of:

One, absolute ego. Can't admit to themselves that they're actually a 15 so they fudge their way to a 2.5. I'm thinking of one extremely prominent golfer* in particular.

Two, to get into a particular tournament or competition with a 'cap limit. I have to admit I was tempted to do that to get into a tournament at Royal Dornoch (limit was 24 IIRC) on my first trip to Scotland, but turned out by practicing a lot I got the 'cap down to 19 without fudging. Dornoch's most prestigious annual tournament has a 'cap limit of 18. Again that would be tempting, if I were going to be there in August some year, but I'll get there on the practice range, not by finessing GHIN.

* -- I was able to look up that extremely prominent golfer on GHIN, which is easy to do. He does carry a 2.5. And he hasn't posted a score in three years, although he plays a LOT.

Nothing big on tap here. More work to be done but hopefully some outside time to wrap up the day as things cool off and the fall weather returns.

Good morning spies! Wild Bunch plays the first day of their fall Calcutta today. The top team to win went for 900 bucks in the auction.  The total for the 10 teams was about 5500.00$. I am absolutely toooooo cheap to play this tournament. I put out over eleven hundred bucks on that new driver and am okay with that. But, five hundred plus dollars on a bet???? Nope, can't do that. There is an odd number of two man teams so I am playing today as a scorer and will get into the skins game for today. 

Tomorrow we head to the mountains to winterize and close up the trailer. We blow the water out of it, put away the cords and hoses, and cover it for the winter. We have rented the spot as storage, so we don't have to move it down here to Mesa and store it where the storage costs more.

Good Late Wednesday Morning Spies

 I forgot my MGS password so couldn’t post from the 1st Tee this morning.  7am tee time, with a full moon out. It was cool, walked 18 holes this morning, first good in 12 days. Course is still pretty soft, no rain yesterday certainly helped. Sunny this morning, but chance of rain this afternoon.  
Prayers out to @EasyPutter & @Rickp and their spouses

 @Rob Person hope your doc appointment went well, do you have to wear a helmet on golf course now . Glad you are ok!!

Good Wednesday morning!  Yesterday, I caught a very nice 3 - 4 lb. trout at Bennett Spring State Park.  The size is an estimate because I only catch and release, but it was a beautiful rainbow trout.

Good morning! I hope everyone is having a great week. I got a last minute invite to Torrey Pines Sunday for twilight. It’s always a great time and I gained a lot of confidence in my driver. I’ve been putting in the practice and really starting to reap the rewards. I’m still shooting in the 90’s so I need to put more focus into my approach and short game. My buddy got me with the tracer and I thought it was pretty cool. Also here’s my latest distances based on gps.

Gouda mornin', spies! Feeling a bit under the weather today. Started at work yesterday morning and just had to swap over to the home office to avoid becoming the host monkey. Bowling is another game with handicaps. I was on the wrong end of that one a few times back in high school during state tournaments. At the time I carried an average around the 205-210 range, and handicaps were based on 200, so I got nothing extra on top of my scratch score. I ran up against someone with a 140 average, so he got an extra 52 added to each game. I beat him by around 100 scratch shooting a little over 700 for 3 games, but handicap just made it so I had no real chance. Do I think he was actually a 140 average guy? Absolutely not. But winning is more important than integrity to some people. 

As far as today goes, road trip day for work. Already dealing with 12 emails with issues from two different clients, and I've got until Friday to finish up my six sigma class, so getting down the wire. Really looking forward to my easy week next week. Ready to take it a little easier for a time before things really pick up at work again.

Going to see what 9 holes does for me today.  My legs have been giving me fits lately.  Weak and cramped feeling.  Went to the doc and he said to drink more water and take some magnesium… it’s been a month and not much has changed.  After I get warmed up I’m good to go, just in the am I’m not very happy.  I could go run a mile in 7:30, but if I sit down for an extended period of time they start to do this again.  It’s probably something serious that I should get checked out huh?

Might be time to go and get a second opinion if the first doctor still is unable to make a determination.
