Two holes could been wondered if I had any idea what I was doing. Driver was awful again other then the second hole of the day. Fortunately the 3 wood did not follow its brother and I was able to use that successfully. Need to hit the lab at some point because this is frustrating

I did pick up the Ping iCrossover Driving Iron and I love that thing. Much better than my previous DI the Stealth DHY.

11/14 FW! 9/18 gir 35 putts Felt like I turned a corner on this round. Got zero luck and carded a snowman on #15 but kept my head down and plodded my way to a mid 80s score. 

I started using a strong grip on shots with Dr-3w-2i and the results are showing. I have never hit a draw into a dogleg left up until this week, but I've figured out how to do it.

Long drive of the season today for me on #15. It built up, 220 on #8, 230 on #10, 245 on #12, 250 on #13, Birdied the par 3 14th and I walked up to the 15th tee glowing like an Anime hero. I missed the tree on the left by inches and a monstrous fade floated out towards the right side of the fairway. One of my playing partners whistled at me.

Short game was lacking. 3x 3 putt in the 1st 4 holes and had mucked wedge shots from 35y and 15y. I use too much loft on these shots I think in the future I'll use my set PW to attempt low to the ground and run as opposed to the up and down and stop shots I've been failing to execute.

First round with the Caley 01CB irons as part of the member test.

Played on a very short course so most approaches were with wedges. My game off the tee was better than usual so it helped a lot. I managed to score 4 gross birdies which is rare for me!

Quite pleased with these irons so far.

Score: 39 (+4) & 37 (+2) for 76 (+6).

Fairways: 9/12

GIR: 8/18

Putts: 15 & 14 for 29.

Played good on the front, shot 42. Had some struggles with the irons on the back and shot 48 for a 90.

While it wasn’t a great driving day, my irons and wedges were some of the best they have ever been. My ball striking was just outstanding, I hit 15/18 greens, with an average proximity to the hole of just 27 feet on all approaches as measured by Arccos. The only thing holding me back was an absurd amount of lip outs, 7?!! I’m a senior in HS playing for Open Door in northern Ohio, and this was in the annual Keystone Invitational, you can see the results on the Chronicle Telegram newspaper, I came six out of around 100 players!

How you play is often relative to the course conditions and weather. Today was 113 and windy. It was like standing in front of a hair dryer all day. I was very pleased with an even par round. While it may not stand up in the virtual contest, it was a great round in the conditions!

I played a round Friday afternoon after working from home a half day.

Went to Stony Creek Metropark Golf Course here, it is a very nice, "Up North Michigan" feeling layout with narrow tree lined fairways and greens which are undulating and not too flat.

Earlier in the week, I spent a few hours at the range working on irons, distance control, trajectory, and shot shape.

I was paired up with a 39 year old man named Mike who also had the day off, he is a Cardiac RN at a hospital here, and hit the ball a mile, not always straight, but a lot longer than I did.

Maybe age has something to do with it? 

Anyways, the practice at the range paid dividends, as I had my lowest round this year, and 3 natural birdies in the same round.

Carded a 72 on a 6500 yard layout, so I will take that any day of the year!  

4th hole - Par 3 playing 174 to the flag - smooth 5 iron and made the putt. These are the first two pictures.

9th hole - 377 yard Par 4 - had 128 to the flag - 9 iron and made the putt. Third picture.

11th hole - Par 3 playing 142 to the flag - 8 iron and made the putt. Last picture.

 I played well today and even though my drives were accurate, I was hitting my 3 wood further than my driver. I put the driver away and focused on using the 3 wood. Had a great relaxing day on the course and shot 14 over, campared to my usual 16 or 18 over. I feel my game is gettjng better and I'm hitting the ball more accurate, except for those pesky chunks lol. I was excited to get to play because it's about to get busy again at work. Got a nice birdy and a few par saves. Love this game.
