I absolutely recommend getting fit for wedges. I was just fit into Vokey SM9s last year and even though I had an idea of what I wanted from a loft and grind perspective, hitting multiple options and feeling the shots was well worth the time.  The 50° Vokey that I have, might be the best club I've ever hit. The wedges I replaced were old Cleveland CG12s (Raw DSG) and I loved those wedges...but having the ability to "flight" the shots and keep them low when needed with the Vokey wedges is something I never knew that I needed and now I can't go back.

Taylormade MG4 -

50-09° SB, 56-TW12° and 60-TW11°

Got them near the end of last season, but have played nearly 100 sim rounds so far this winter.. and a lot of chipping sessions.
So I’ll be ordering a new set this summer.

I’ve been playing the MG wedges since the first generation.. and have been in the TW 56/60 grind since the MG2.

I’ve wanted to try out others, but for me these MG’s are just too good and keep getting better.

Vokey SM6. 50-54-58. New wedges aren't required that often as we don't have thick rough and I hit running chips most of the time.

That being said, about time for SM10's. Especially the 50 as the CG was reworked to lesson the hook tendency. Yahoo!

Have to figure out which life event the spousal unit will fork over my money for the clubs! 🤪

Driver: Callaway Epic 9 degree, stiff (set at 10 degrees with the movable weight in the center}

FW: Callaway Epic 3,5, heaven wood w/ regular shaft (driver shaft in 3 wood, 3 wood shaft in 5 wood, 5 wood shaft in heaven wood, all three set at neutral plus 1 degree)

Hybrids: Callaway BB19 4,6,7 (4 set at neutral plus 1 degree and 6 and 7 set at neutral minus 1 degree for gapping purposes)

Irons: Callaway Rogue ST Max 8, 9, PW

Wedges: Titleist Vokey SM6 50,54,58

Ball: Titleist Pro V1, 1X, Vice Pro Plus or anything I find that day and try out for the fun of it (I haven't bought balls with my own money in at least 10 years)

This happened to my Cleveland RTX Zipcore 56° on the last round of the season. So now I’ll be rocking the RTX 6 56° and excited to add a 52° to the bag as well.

How is the finish holding up?

Just put my standard mid-sized Golf Pride Tour Wrap on this weekend.  Haven't even hit them yet.  Just been chipping in the garage.  Going to the neighbor's Trackman setup this week to gauge trajectory, spin, distance compared to the Pings.  Just want some data before putting them in play, but to your point, the wife already said "why are they all scratched already?!"  I think they look great, but they do have that steel-wool scratchy buffed looked.

Yikes! and double Yikes!! I am really getting to be a feeble old man… Those full swing distances “ Boat Race “ what I manage with my 49°, 55°, and 59° wedges.

Replaced my 2018/19 Taylormade P790 PW with a P7MC PW bent to the same 45* loft.

Then I have:

50* TM MG3 ((S200, but going to replace with KBS C-Taper Lite X-stiff)

56* TM MG3 TW (S200, but going to replace with KBS C-Taper Lite X-stiff)

60* TM MG2 TW (S300).

This spring I will be buying a 60* MG4 with the LBV 7* grind. I miss having a lofted wedge that sits really low at address, particularly in hard-baked summer conditions.

I've been using the Kirkland Signature 56 and 60.  I can *usually* drop shots with good precision from 65 to 25 yards in.
Unfortunately, about 10-15% of the time I'll skull one screaming over the green.
This year I'm going to try using my pitching wedge and 7 iron for short approaches, keeping shots low and hopefully reduce the bad shots.

I play a (single length) Gap wedge, sand wedge, lob wedge, and a (normal length) 60’ wedge. I do have to watch my stance with the 60’ wedge as it is short for me.

Vokey SM 9; 54/10, 58/10 both with KBS Tour Lite shafts and Golf Pride Midsize MCC 4 grips.

On or shortly after 2/15/24 I will order the new Vokey SM10 54 and 58...likely with 8 degree bounce in the 54 and 12 in the 58. Will stick with same shaft and grip  choice if available

My other wedges are: PXG Gen 4 GAP and PW with KBS Tour Lite shafts and midsize PXG grips. These are "set" wedges.

Yeah, I love my Mizuno 4 - 9 but my PW wasn't as accurate/consistent for some reason. So, I got the Vokey 46 to replace the PW. It was a great move and a confidence booster. I'm throwing darts like my other wedges now!

Sub70 659CB set 45* PW and 50* AW.

Sub70 286 54* and 58*

Sub702865458.jpg.5fb3c38090d038b298717d64d857ea90.jpg

I use the 50* for most shots between 70-120 yards and then around the green if I have some green to work with. The 54* gets used for shots inside 70 yards and a bit around the green. 58* is used for all specialty shots and shots where I'm short-sided.

These clubs have been well used for a season and half and I'm looking into new ones. I'm thinking about the Cleveland CBX or Edison 2.0 for the 50* and 54* and then the Cleveland RBX or Sub70 JB for the 58*.

45 degree 2018 X-forged PW, 50 degree Jaws Raw, 56 bent to 55 degree Jaws Raw, and 60 degree Mack Daddy 4.  The 50 degree might have to go for a Driving Iron in the future as can use 55 and 45,  the 60 degree is starting to show wear. This Spring when the snow melts will work on a carry distance card with 6 oclock-9-12-full swing for each wedge.

I bought some new wedges this year and got them to even out my spacing a bit. I have a Vokey 54 that I love and wanted to stay so bought Cleveland RTX Zipcore Fullface in a 50 and 58 and love them. I bought them new after testing out a few alternatives at a big golf store in Sydney. They replaced some very old Ping Eye 2s - lovely clubs but had them second hand and been in the bag for a long time. I now get a lot of confidence from the full face when you have to open them up but also very nice on a longer shot.

I have an old 60 I have in the bag but must admit I rarely use it now given I like the 58 so much and rarely find myself needing the extra 2 degrees. I have no doubt I'll find somewhere else in the bag to make use of the gap now. 20231014_125309.jpg.915b869bba227eedd439d5ab3c256fe9.jpg
