When do you leave the course?

I just headed into the clubhouse after one hole. What causes you to leave the course?

BTW this looked like it was headed the other way when we tee'd off.

Ping G410 - turned down to11.25 degrees, neutral setting - Fujikura Motore X R flex

Ping G410 5-9 wood

Wilson D7 forged 6-GW -  Mamiya recoil 460 R flex

SCOR 52,60

EVNRoll ER 5

Titleist Pro VIx optic yellow with revkev stamped on them

Currently testing Edison wedges to replace SCORS that are wearing out. Also auditions for the 14th spot in the bag.  Current possibilities are a Ping 26 degree hybrid - duplicates the 9 wood or 5 iron but would be used almost exclusively for chipping or Tour Exotics 3 wood simply because you can carry 14 clubs and I might occasionally hit it in certain unusual wind conditions once every four or five rounds.

I'll play in anything but lightning.   But to answer the question of when I leave the course...it's usually around the 3rd text from my wife to get home.

Lightning and/or heavy rain will cause me to leave the course. I'll generally play through light to moderate rain until I get to the turn or finish my 18

I'll play through basically anything. Once you get soaked, you can't get any wetter. Last year I had to play 2 league matches in the rain (1 in the playoffs) and I had the mental edge big-time. My opponents did nothing but complain about the rain which led to bad shots they could complain about as well.

Luckily it was just rain both times and no lightning.

This.  I once went golfing and had a similar experience.  Such a scary day and one I won't soon forget (or repeat).

I never gave the immense atmospheric electricity generated by mixing weather systems the respect it deserved until the day every hair on my body suddenly stood at attention. The sound, light and power I experienced next left me unable to hear, see or think straight for the next 10 minutes. I was very fortunate the strike narrowly missed me. Many golfers have not been so lucky. These days, all my gambling buddies know when the sky starts to rumble, up or down on the betting sheet, downlowkey makes a beeline for shelter. I too am a diehard golfer but I'd prefer not to die hard on the golf course anytime soon.

Played in the rain many times, as long as its not a heavy rain and no lightning.

We played in a tournament one time at a course that was right next to a 2 lane highway.  It was raining pretty steadily with gust of wind.  It was tough conditions that day.  One of the players I was with sat down their umbrella to hit their shot.  A big gust of wind appeared, last we saw of that umbrella it was headed down Highway 46  :D

The first streak of lightning, I'm gone. Although I have left after the 3rd hole because I was playing so bad.

I'm ok with rain. I carry rain gear. I don't mess with lightning. Uncle was struck twice, baseball coach was struck once, and my grandfathers best friend was killed on the course. So if there's lightning around I'm out. I'm good with rain though. I'm not gonna leave bc I'm playing bad.

I've never left early, unless they close The course I'll play through the rain. I'm pretty diehard.

Agreed, it's not often I don't play when I book unless the course is closed. Even in rain I don't mind going...just have to make sure there is time to dry out the gear before the next round!

I'd like to say never... but Lightning also scares the out of me. Some of my best rounds are when it's raining. My season is so short, so as long as it isn't downpouring, a tornado, 50+ Kt winds... I'm there. I've played when it was 22° out.

It doesn't rain a lot here (but I guess it did last Monday), but if the forecast is rain, I don't go.  If it rains while on the course, I'll keep playing because I know it won't last very long.  We don't have a siren for lightning, but if we do get some unexpectedly, the club sends out a cart to get people off the course.

I usually draw the line at going out when it's above 108*, but I will go out even if it's below 20* if the course is open.  I also quit when the wind blows more than 40mph.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

I'll play in light rain and head back in the rain gets heavy. But then I live right by the course so I can back on anytime. If there is a thunderstorm approaching our club will clear the course.

No one is really talking snow. I love playing in that stuff especially walking. It makes it harder to find your ball but way easier to judge the wind. Then if people have played before you, you get awesome putt reads.

I use to play in the rain minus lighting several years ago.  Now when the rain comes, I'm gone. Being retired has benefits as there are always more play days on the calendar ;)
