If you were stuck on a desert island and could only listen to one song and/or artist the entire time, who would you choose or what song would you choose?

I would choose

Springsteen by Eric Church

He would also be the one artist I'd listen to.

I'd say Bob Marley as the artist since it is an island. Gotta go artist since one song over and over would drive me nuts.

I've got to go Billy Joel. His popular stuff is great, and now that he's writing classical, it just offers so much diversity.

The Rolling Stones. I wouldn't say they are my favorites, but their longevity and catalog would allow me to listen over and over. From straight electric blues of their early years; to the biggest rock act with some of the most memorable albums of classic rock of the late 60's/ early 70's (Mick Taylor period); even country with songs like Faraway Eyes.

My two favorite groups are Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top.  I guess I could say I have always tried to be "A Sharped Dressed Man" and remain a "Free Bird".

My all time favorite song is still "Louie, Louie" by the Kingsman.   In my opinion, it has always been and will always be the number one party song.  Being in a garage band during my high school years, we knew the dirty lyrics.  But then, from my experience, the movie, Animal House, was not totally fictional.

Yep, I guess you're right, I'm showing my age,but then I have never tried to hide it.   Moreover, I take a certain pride in having achieved it.  When I entered high school, it was the start of what was labelled the "British Invasion" with the Beatles and the Stones.  But still had access to early rock and roll with the likes of Chuck Berry and Little Richard.  Then on to my college years with the growing popularity of Detroit Motown and Memphis Stax.   Yep, I am now old, but as I look back over my lifetime, I have had access to and enjoyed multiple forms and venues of great music, real music.   Now, I keep my radio tuned to what is now called "country and western" and while I enjoy it, it ain't the same "country and western, I heard as a youngster.

I guess when we get into our 70's we kinda feel we saw the best and probably did. We have Sirius radio in the car and it seems to stay in the 60's-70's years. My High School was 1960-1964, good years.

It's true. I think must of us equate the greatest music as the soundtrack of our teenage years.

I've always loved classic rock as I was introduced to it at a young age, so when I talked to people that saw The Rolling Stones or The Doors, etc. in their heyday, I'd be in awe and wish I could have seen them. Now, I talk with music fanatics like myself, but 20 years younger than me, and they are in awe that I saw many of the Grunge era bands of the early 90's live.

So while I love classic rock, seeing bands like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Weezer etc, live and experiencing it as a teen with others of my generation will always make it my favorite type of music.

The funny thing is, the music of my youth is now considered classic rock, go figure.

My choice would be The Allman Brothers Band followed closely by The Rolling Stones, both acts I saw for the first time over 35 years ago.  deejaid's post above got me to thinking of all the acts I saw back in the day, it is an impressive list for old time rockers.  The Beatles, The Beachboys, James Brown, The Temptations, The 4 Seasons, Three Dog Night, Mountain, The Doobie Brothers, Jimmy Buffett, Percy Sledge, Otis Redding, Seals and Crofts, Herman's Hermits, The Hondells, The Grassroots, Johnny Rivers, B.J. Thomas, Charlie Daniels Band, Ike & Tina Turner and the list goes on.  Good memories and some very vague ones too, lol.

A thread listing all the bands we've seen over the years would be cool. Especially ya ole farts that have 50+ years of concerts under our belts. First live concert we went to was Beach Boys in their 1st tour. Not sure the year. Didn't think much of it then.
