Warmup: MGS Hard Rock Challenge 2020 (conforming ball list)

Welcome to the MGS Hard Rock Challenge 2020 Conforming List Showdown!

The HRC 2020 is here and we are doing things a little bit differently this year. 

First of all since there was this little virus earlier in the year the HRC 2020 will be contested in July.   But we wanted to have a little fun in preparation for some fine granite smashing.  As you know the HRC is more than who can survive the hand stinging madness of hitting a Top Flite XL around for a low score.  We want to laugh, have fun and banter a bit while we go.  

Over the next 3 weeks or so this thread will be open to your ideas on what ball we should add to the conforming list!  Have a ball you want added?   Take a picture of said ball and make a story for the forum to read of WHY your ball should be added to the competition (we like a good laugh).

In the spirit of the competition, no urethane balls will be accepted nor will any ball with the word "soft" in it's model name or major marketing material. 

All entries will be taken into account and thought about for way too long.  Then we'll leave it up for a vote at the end of the month!

 

*PSA-  Range balls are a big expense for golf courses and ranges.  I cannot stress this enough, please do NOT take a range ball from a course nor range for this competition.

Really looking forward to this, the HRC is a fun competition. Not having a nice spinny golf ball makes holding the green a challenge. That is, unless your ball re-enters the atmosphere with enough velocity to make a crater on the green.

Take the Velocity off the list. Sure it's firm for a Titleist, but holds greens just fine. I play it from time to time.

As a new comer to this challenge, is this a 9 holes challenge or a complete wreck your hands 18 hole beating? I have a box of nitro ulitmate distance, will these work they are not on the list but they are hard as rocks.

That’s a Top Flite XL Super Titanium I’ve been saving up for this along with a Michelob branded rock. I have no idea what make it is, I get a few free every year at a scramble I play and they are just god awful and HARD.

Welcome to the forum and the Hard Rock Challenge!  It is a 9 hole challenge, as many attempts as you wish through the month with the best score standing.  As a rule of thumb 2020 rules will be similar to 2019.  We will post them in full at the beginning of this year's competition.

Thanks for the kind words, Alan!   Looking forward in seeing what you guys come up with this year!  Any chance you'll be dicing up some granite with the blueprints this summer?

Looking forward in having you duke it out with the guys.  Forgot to mention the Nitro ball.  That was a typo on my part.  Nitro "ultra distance" should have been Ultimate Distance.

Dang, I was so looking forward to putting the Slazenger Distance next to the HRC Trophy.  Hopefully @sirchunksalothas been thinking about what will fill that empty spot on the mantle

Really? Dang. And just when I found two matte orange Velocity's, in pristine condition, within feet of each other.  No doubt the same guy placed both of them there on back to back tee shots.

How about the Titleist TruFeel?  I gamed a dozen of their predecessor, the DT TRUSOFT, and when combined with Callaway's Warbird are why I will never play ionomer/surlyn balls ever again.  Neither one ever came close to holding a green for me.
