Other than the standard(if there's such a thing) PW, I game the Cleveland RTX 50*, 56* LB, and the 58*LB. Love them all. For me, I'm thinking about getting rid of one of my hybrids and putting in a 52* also. A lot of the games activity is close to the green anyway so why not put a club in your hand that you feel is the best for a given circumstance.

I've got Cobra Snakebite Black 52/56/60. Been very happy with them after the initial getting to know you period. I do also have a set PW & GW with my Aerojet irons, so one could say I am a fan of wedges 🤣

Srixon ZX5 MKII PW 46°

Srixon Z585 AW 52°

Cleveland RTX ZipCore 56° Mid 10

Cleveland RTX Full Face 60° 9

My PW and AW are 120-145 yard clubs for me. I kept my AW from my other iron set because it was one of my most consistent green finders.

60° has been a bunker king for me. I love the full face spin. Close greenside chips, I can get it to stop on a dime.

56° is more of a do it all wedge. I can hit short par 3, approaches, and most other chips and pitches onto the green.

I began to practice with a 60 degree Walmart special.  I practiced hours a day on carpet to the point I could drop that ball about a foot from the pin every time.  It became my go to wedge.  After about 16 yrs it’s wore out and I needed a new club.  Quietly I went back to Walmart to see if the same club was available.  No…  I decided to upgrade to Cleveland RTX 60 and 54 degree.  Hasn’t been the same because I don’t know the loft of the (literally) no name Walmart special.  I keep trying.

Sorry that I can't attach a pic at the moment, but my wedge setup is probably like many others'.  My pitching and gap wedges match the iron set I have (Mizuno MP223s), and I have higher lofted wedges that are probably just a bit unusual in that they have odd-numbered lofts.  And their sole grind is identical, so neither is a high bounce "sand" wedge.  I have Edison original version 55 and 59 degree wedges with stiff shafts (though my iron set has x-stiff).  Edison's design has the center of gravity a bit higher in the wedge face, so they claim, so I didn't have them bend either wedge to more "traditional" lofts of 54 and 58 (though they would have, had I asked).  As a result, I didn't lose any distance moving from 54/58 CBX2 wedges.  I like them on a full swing, but I've struggled a bit with my touch around the greens at times.  That said, I definitely prefer them over the CBX2s I gamed previously.  Mostly, I would say I use the 55 around the green unless particular circumstances dictate.  Really fast greens mean the 59 will be used far more often.

Next time I replace my wedges, I'll probably hold a bit of a competition between the Titleist/Vokeys, the Mizunos, and whatever Cleveland has to offer.  Maybe the Edisons will get another shot, too.

I use two setups that are fully dependent on the course and how I configure the top end of my bag based on the clubs I'll need for approach yardages.  Most days it's a 46, 50, 54, 58 setup.  However, if I have a course that I need to be able to attack some Par 5s or long Par 3s around the 230 yardage I'll drop to my 3 wedge setup and get the 3-wood and 5-wood/UW in the bag instead of 4-wood.  My 3 wedge setup is 46, 52, 58.  I rarely hit a full shot inside 150-yards.  As a scratch, former college player, and HS Golf Coach, I flight and shape everything inside that 150-yard threshold.  I use the Pelz method with 730 (50%), 9 (75%), and 1030 (90%) swings.  I learned it playing college golf, and through experimenting I have been able to adapt it to 9-iron and 8-iron as well to give me the ability to attack anywhere inside the 150-yard range with a variety of low or high shots with or without a lot of spin as needed.  It really helps me score using this system.  My carry yardages look like this:

(4 WEDGE SETUP)

8-Iron: 730=78, 9=117, 1030=140, Full=156

9-Iron: 730=71, 9=106, 1030=127, Full=142

54: 730=50, 9=75, 1030=90, Full=100

I did the pw, 50,54,58 for years, but recently switches to pw, 52,58.  With 4 wedges one always seemed like the red headed step child.

Anyone else have comments on 3 v 4 wedge setup. I'm thinking to scrap the 54 & 58 and just go 56 (so 44, 50 and 56).....but would need to find a very versatile bounce/grind to play the different shots I hit w current 54 & 58.

Any thoughts?

I have older clubs, Ping i3+, PW is 47 degrees, GW is 52, and I then move to Callaway Jaws Raw Full toe, 54, 60, 64(this is more just for fun than actual rescue, I open the 60 if I really need to)

I may be the anomaly here, but I only play a 2 wedge setup, beside my set PW.

Ive always played with a 2 wedge setup & it has just worked out for me. I’ve never really been “stuck” in between wedges. I either choke down on my PW & swing easier, or step on the GW. Just have to adjust to course conditions.

I've been playing Edison wedges the last three seasons. First two years I played 52-56-60 then switched this year to 52-58 when I bought new wedges. Prior to that, I was playing Callaway MacDaddy wedges. Like the Edisons better than the Callaways but thinking about going back to Vokeys. Don't want to do that until I can go to a fitting, preferably outdoors.

The 50 gets the bulk of the work.

Ditto on the 50* getting a lot of work!

I use the Sub70 659 CB set PW (46*) and AW (50*). The 50 gets used from 110yds and in. I have Sub70 286 54* and 58* wedges. 54 for chips around the green and longer green side sand shots and 58 for when I need to stop the ball quick or shorter green side sand shots. My wedge game is definitely a work in progress, but I like this setup better than anything I’ve tried in the past.

After about 2 seasons of inner fighting, I finally pulled the trigger and made a major change in my bag for 2023. I dropped my 3w/5w and added the Cally Apex UW and decided to add an extra wedge.

Apex 21 PW (43 adjusted to 42)

Apex 21 AW (48 adjusted to 46)

It really paid off for my game and goals for 2023. I lowered my index 4 points from 15 to 11, and gained 6 strokes on my 120 and in game. The UW addition has been one of the best moves I have made equipment wise.

I played 52, 56, and 60 Cleveland wedges for years.  When I picked up my new irons the gapping was wrong so just picked up some vokey wedges in 50, 54 and 58.  Considering throwing the 60 in the bag instead of 58.  Just more comfortable around the greens and bunkers with it.

Intriguing change to the PW and AW bud... But makes sense overall with the SM9 lofts.  I like it.  I'm in stock PW and AW for the T100's lofts. Did you have to look at every club above the PW though?  The 42 I'd reckon might cause some gapping issues, no?

I'm pretty boring. So I play the following:

T-100s - PW 44

T-100s - AW 48

Vokey SM8 - 54

Vokey SM9 - 58

Fairly stock lofts etc.  Though I am one degree bent upward on my irons.  (Little steep on swing plane)    I have thought about bending the 54 and 58 one degree strong to get the lofts and gaps more in line, but it works for me fairly well as is.  So I don't think I'll be doing that just yet.

This may come as a shock, but it's not the first time someone's asked me that exact question. My 9i is still at the factory 38.5*, so if you look at it (and my gapping via Arccos), it makes perfect sense in the grand scheme of things. The yardages between the five clubs is roughly a 12-15 yard gap, which is right where I need to be.

I’m just curious on what type of wedge setup everyone has in their bag. Most people would probably say that mine is a little unusual. I game three Titleist SM9’s brushed steel finish, I have the 48 10 F, 52 12 F, and 56 14 F, I’d say with 75% of my shots around the green I use my 52 with some awesome results, what does everyone else use??

Set GW 50* 110-115 (most my shots are half/ 3/4 swings with this club)

54* zipcore 70-80 yards. Hardly ever a full swing club. Only if I really need to send it 100 and land it soft, otherwise I just play a partial GW

58* zipcore 50 yards, again, this is hardly ever a full swing club.

I’m curious if anyone has compared 54° vs. 56° wedges from the bunker. I was also thinking of changing to 54° when I get my 50° wedge this winter but I’ve always played a 56° and I know what to expect. I’m looking more at changing to a 54° for approach shots and green side chip shots.

my old wedges were 56*. I still suck out of bunkers. it is all about speed there and the proper ground contact. Sole width and bounce is more important from the bunker for me. Need something I can open the face up and allow me to swing fast.

Follow my journey to enjoying golf and going low
