Sluggo42
My typical +5 thru 6, then a bird on 8. then played clean thru till 15 and promptly plunked one into the drink for another double- that’s 3 doubles this round- barely escaped with a 79, but obviously kept out of the 80’s. That back to back double on the front seems to be a reoccurring theme lately, and it would be a better deal to stop doing so poorly on the front- apparently one of the hazards of being the first off every morning Dweed, josmi15, StrokerAce and 6 others 9 Quote TSr2 on tensi blue stiff Speedzone 3-wood on Tensi blue S Epic Max 5 and 7 woods on HZRDUS Reg flex Paradym 9 wood on HZRDUS reg flex P770 / P790 combo set on Ventus R-6 shafts 6-AW T22 Denim Copper 54°, 58° on Kinetic X Trajectory ER3 or, E.A.S. #4 (“Fang” or “Adele”) ProV1x, or, Maxfli Tour X .Org 14 cart bag Adidas Tour 360 , or Sketcher shoes
DoubleBogeyDad
Snuck in a last minute 9-hole round after lunch. Made a 2:10 tee time at 1:40 from 20 minutes away, so it was out of the car, onto the first tee box. Didn't find the driver until about the 5th hole and couldn't hit an iron to save my life. I hadn't played in a few weeks, so most of the game was off. But my driver was awesome. I played a ProV1 on the front and a Maxfli Tour on the back, while the distance was good with Titleist, the Maxfli avereaged about 20 yards longer, and I hit a 3W 271 per Arccos which was longer than all but one of the Titleist drives. I'm still gaming the Z-Star as my preferred ball, but I'm demoting ProV1 out of the rotation. Between price, and how it's been surpassed in performance, I can't justify it any longer. Vegan_Golfer_PNW
Posted in the VCT. Todays nine was pretty good. Approach play was somewhat messy. Short game saved me but could have also aimed a little better to get closer. My 9’ putts killed me. Had 5 and missed them all. Most were slight miss reads. A few distance control. On 18, nearly drained a 15’ for birdie. On hole 13, par three, I was picking up my ball and writing my score when a guy behind me, yells from the tee, “ $&/@ing move”. Mind you, the three prior holes there was no one behind me at all. Led me to get rattled and duck hooked my next drive ob. I also finished in 90 mins. Some people really know how to ruin golf. Kenny B
Our course was closed all day today for a big tournament, so my wife and I took our sore backs to our sister muni course across the Columbia River in Pasco. It's a nice course in great shape. It is about 300y longer from their senior tees than our senior White tees but the Slope rating is lower than ours. Nice, sunny morning at 7am and we were paired with two guys that we have actually played with before at our course. They both had nice swings but sprayed the ball everywhere. I shot 78... 40/38. Made a bogey on the par 3 #2 hole after shanking my 7i off the tee. I settled down after that and played pretty well except for the par 5 holes... bogeyed two of them, doubled one, and made par on the last one. I followed up the double on the par 5 #11 with birdies on #12 and #13; missed a birdie on the par 5 #15 by one roll of the ball. The grass is very different on the fairways and greens than our course and the greens have more slope to them. Overall, the speed of the greens was a little slower, but the slopes made them seem quicker. I could get used to these greens very quickly if I played here more; this was the first time we have played this course this year. Popular Post DoubleBogeyDad
This one was a roller coaster with 30 mph wind gusts for a couple holes on the front. Game was great off the tee, approach was better than my last time out, couldn't make a putt. Highlight of the round was the 13th hole. Perfect drive, full 60° to 2 feet that could've just as easily gone in. Low point of the round was busting my new Shed Rain umbrella . Had it installed on my ClicGear, big gust caught it while I was taking a shot. Lifted the whole cart enough to tip over and the umbrella took the brunt of it. Before the accident: Snapped the shaft right above the locking mechanism. Up to that point it was doing awesome. My buddies cheapo umbrella inverted almost immediately. Mine was riding the 30mph gusts no problem, felt like I had a sail! All in all a decent round of 88 in tough conditions. Popular Post Fongle
Played a 4 man, 3 club, best ball yesterday. They hadn't announced it was going to be a best ball till we got there, which was a shame because my mates are pretty awful, at least when we've done ambrose we occasionally get to use one of their shots. In the end I think we took 17/18 of my scores, but we had a blast regardless. The club has been trying to grow a bit and push their social media stuff recently, and had a Taylormade challenge on one of the holes, was kind of chuffed to see the official Taylormade Australia/NZ instagram page sharing my teams picture that we put up. By keeping it in play and making a lot of "ho-hum" pars leads to very consistent scores and the sign of a better player, no matter the circumstances or conditions. I used to get teased by some I played with about my managing the various courses we would play, but my scores always seemed to be lower and more consistent than those who may have taken unnecessary chances or risks attempting a high risk/reward type shot. BallsLeon
The journey to breaking 100 continues, played Painted Hills yesterday (from the Greys 65.9/102), and shot 101 (57 front, 54 back). Can only seem to get one aspect of my game working at a time. Between the teebox and green I was feeling fairly confident. My SW through 7i are all feeling pretty comfortable, but all my longer clubs are pretty unreliable for me. Driver was feeling great for the first few driving range sessions and round I played, but now it feels completely foreign to me. Greens were a little frustrating for me because I had focused solely on putting since my last round. My lag putts were pretty good, and I was getting in good position put I just couldn't put them away. Was constantly glancing the hole, or lipping out. Still had a lot of fun, and always a great way to spend a morning. This week I am going to practice finishing putts. I need to go to a different course to practice on actual holes as my local only has practice pins on the practice green, and I think it's adversely affecting my ability to finish. If I can get my Approach and Putting game working in harmony I think I can break 100 easy. josmi15, gingerbeast87, Shankopotomous and 6 others 9 Quote Driver : GBB Epic, 10.5° loft, autoFlex Dream7, SF405x flex (44.75") 3-Wood: Rogue ST LS, 15° loft, MCA TENSEI AV Blue 65g, Reg flex (42.25", tipped 0.5") 3-Hybrid: Z H85, 19° loft, HZRDUS Black 85g, 5.5 flex Irons: T350 5i & T200 6i-GW, 23°-48° lofts, Nippon Modus3 120g, Stiff flex (+0.5”, 1° upright) Wedges: JB Forged Raw 54° & 58° lofts, Nippon Modus3 120g, Reg flex (+0.5/0.25", 0.5° upright) Putter: DS72 C, 35”, PP60 grip

Muirfield Village from the tees that play about 6300y is a long haul for Dad, but my driver was on today, got us in the fairway a lot. Kenny B
A very pleasant 74º headed to mid-90’s but that’s after we finished. Back to our course today, but we had to tee off at 6:45am to beat the second day of the tournament. Not sure what they did yesterday, but today the Blue tees were up with the White tees. What’s with that!! Back still bothering me, but I managed 42/36 for another 78. I was +5 on the front nine with 2 doubles and was +1 on the back nine with 2 bogies and a birdie. It was an interesting round where I only hit 5 GIR but my short game was great! Even the birdie was from off the green!! Now I get a few more days off from golf to rest my back. When it gets better, I’m sure that I will be back posting in the low 80’s again!! Stuka44
Played my go to course, from the Blue tees this past Saturday(for the first time in a while), 6050 yards instead of 5690. Amazing how much different the course presents. Different clubs in on several, two par threes that require 5 iron instead of 8, and further back on a couple makes driving shoot just a little bit narrower. Probably could not have picked a more difficult day to decide this, light mist/drizzle, wet, but it was a good change, and challenge even though score was 91, when from other tees 80-84 is normal. Game has basically boiled down to whether I can have an unencumbered second shot. Can't score well when you're trying to hit the green from behind or underneath trees... Shankopotomous
I got in 15 holes last night after the storms passed thru. The course was mostly empty so i was able to get around in 2 hrs before the cart had to be back in. I was not impressed with tee shots as i am still working on a full swing that is repeatable. My iron shots and wedge game saved me with yardage and direction being dialed in pretty well. I didnt miss a green until the last hole when i had a shot at it and wasnt punching out. As it got dark about 8:20, I was thinking it would be ideal to live as far west in a time zone as possible. I noticed on my drive thru indiana last week that i could have golfed until about 9:15! MaxEntropy
I just got back from Hilton Head last night. I was fortunate to be able to play twice while we were there. All courses punched their greens within the last month, so we had to deal with that. A friend of a friend got us on a private course just off the island (Riverton Pointe). Really nice layout, imo. I ended up with a 40/44 for a +12. Driver was mostly very good, except when it wasn't (3 penalties). Irons were pretty good, short game and putting very good. The next day, I played Old South, just off the island and shot 40/45 for a +13 (with another 3 penalties, including a triple on 18). There are a couple interesting holes. I really liked 16... Wind was hard from upper left to lower right. I flared my 3W. I assumed it was lost so hit a provisional that was perfect. I adjusted Arccos to approximate where I would have been hitting from, but unfortunately my first was ok. Would have been a 50-ish yard difference. I guess I parred it anyway. Fun hole, imo. My buddy didn't have as much fun. Again, tee ball was pretty good, except for a few swings. Irons were the best they've been in a while, and short game again bailed me out. See example above and below. I don't know how that ball stayed dry, but it did, leaving a tough chip, especially since I was looking over my shoulder waiting for a gator to lunge out of the water at me (my mind was picturing Linda Kozlowski in Crocodile Dundee). This is very simliar to my game right now. If I am missing off the tee I am getting myself back into the hole and making a putt to save a par or bogey. Then good tee shots and good wedge/iron I am just missing putts for a few birdies that I need to put something really good together. No complaints just hope to put it together soon! cksurfdude, DoubleBogeyDad, edingc and 2 others 5 Quote Check out my reviews: G710 Irons Official Review I MC Shaft & V Series Putter Official Review 2022 Forged Tec's Official Review I Nitron Push Cart Official Review WITB: Weapons of grass destruction (link to WITB) Traverse is filled with all this shiny metal and tracked by RadSpeed 8* - MotoreX F1 6X SIM 3W - Project X HZRDUS Green U505 Driving Iron 17* - Project X HZRDUS Black SpeedZone 4H - Project X HZRDUS Black 2022 King Forged Tec's 4-PW - KBS $ Tape 130 48 (SM8), 52 & 60 (SM7) - Nippon Modus 125 S ER2VI PROV1X #19 Are you a veteran? josmi15
Saturday was out and shot 40/44 with 2 doubles on the back. What really has haunted me the last 2 days was the first double on 13 is a par 4 and i was laying 2 with 20 yards from the center of the green. Stubbed my wedge and left it short of the green. Then i chipped it on and was nowhere near the hole. Leaving me a 15 footer for bogey. Now to be honest, the 40 was the best i ever played on the front. I should be rejoicing. It was just one of those days for me that i couldn't miss. I know about my other double (hardest hole on the course and it exacted it's revenge on me) cksurfdude, DoubleBogeyDad, BallsLeon and 3 others 6 Quote PING G425 SFT 10.5 Ben Hogan GS53 3 Wood PING G425 MAX 5 Wood Cobra Fly Z 3 Hybrid PING G30 5-PW Cleveland RTX 3.0 50/10 V-MG Cleveland RTX 3.0 54/14 V-FG Cleveland RTX 3.0 58/12 V -FG EVNROLL ER-
