I was supposed to play at another course in town on Tuesday and Thursday but on Monday I woke up with a knot in a muscle in my lower back. By Monday night I could hardly move so canceled golf for the week... until today. Back is better; not sore but muscles are very tight. I had a massage yesterday that helped and I did a lot of stretching before the round today. Warmed up on the range, and it wasn't pretty. On the 1st tee I told my wife and the other couple that I thought I would break 100; not the good way. I haven't shot 100+ on this course in... ever! 50/41 for 91 with a triple and three doubles. I couldn't stay down through the ball. I managed a few good pars on the back nine, and my drives on #16 and #18 were fairly decent even for a health Kenny B. My back didn't hurt, but it was far from normal feeling. Oh BTW, my wife finally beat me, but she probably would have anyway with her 83. Best round she's shot since I've known her!! You need a good CBD cream. I have back muscles spasms often (like every couple of weeks). The last time I rubbed CBD cream on 3 times in an hour and 1/2. Then played golf with no pain and no tightness. edingc
Two weekend rounds for #CobraConnect. I've posted over in that thread as well, but focused more on the clubs than my game. Saturday - 39/44 = 83 (+11) - 4/15 FIR - 10/18 GIR (1 birdie) - 35 Putts (3 3-putts, 11 2-putts, 4 1-putts) Sunday - 42/40 = 82 (+10) - 7/15 FIR - 7/18 GIR (2 birdies) - 32 Putts (2 3-putts, 10 2-putts, 6 1-putts) Chipped and putted considerably better on Sunday than Saturday, but struggled with my irons both days. Sunday was particularly frustrating because I was alternating between hitting pulled toe shots (bad path) and overcooked straight draws (better path but really closed face) as I am still not comfortable with the feelings I got from Tuesday's lesson. Hoping to get to the range tomorrow to work some more on it. Playing a small fade with the driver on good shots now, just have to trust the shot shape and go hard after it each time. Every now and then I'll get the face stuck open and bomb one way right, which isn't making trusting anything easy at the moment. dlow206
Had a weird round today. Shot a 106, which isn't great. My driver swing which was hot as of late did not show up at the course today until the 18th hole. Hit a bomb on 18 dead straight, where was that swing all day? On the flip side, my iron swing, which has been missing in action all season showed up. Was hitting my approach shots onto the green, but unfortunately, my GIR was not high, because those approach shots were generally my 3rd or 4th shots after hitting a poor tee shot and having to punch out into the fairway. I switched putting grips today to the Claw grip. First time, no practice. So my putting wasn't so hot, but it showed some good potential where i drained some nice putts. My short game was a little rough today. Typically, I had been used to hitting poor, chunky approach shots, so I would be left with a lot of 40 yard pitch shots, which I tend to be ok on. Today, since my iron game showed up, holes that I didn't hit onto the green with my irons were often right off of the green. Not close enough to putt though. Lot of bladed short chips or chunky short chips. Another observation is that my scores have been worse when the weather has been hotter. I walk and my course is hilly as sh*t. Even though my cardio fitness is pretty good, I get pooped out walking. Not many people walk the course. Popular Post ParFore74x
Shot another 99 today so that’s two out of the last three rounds under 100. Driver and mid irons got me in trouble more than I would like today but I am still happy to be making progress on the season. Short irons and wedges were definitely my friends today. Played at another course in town to get away from my home course and test out my course management. The biggest thing that I have changed in the last month or so is making sure that I take the smart shot when I get in trouble instead of always playing aggressive. It seemed to work out to my advantage today. fozcycle, cksurfdude, artful_golfer and 9 others 12 Quote TSi3 10° w/ Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Black 65g TS2 15° 3W w/ Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black 6.0 70g 818 H1 21° Hybrid w/ Mitsubishi Tensei CK Blue 70g MP-18 MMC 2 iron w/ KBS Tour C-Taper S 120g JPX 921 HM 5-GW w/ Project X LZ 5.5 115g JB Forged 54° & 58° w/ Project X LZ 6.0 120g EV5.3 Black
zrumble
Shot my handicap with a 78. Took a 7 after a poor shot from a flier lie put me in an impossible situation. Hit a wedge over the elevated green so it bounced away, and ended up on some hard pan next to a bush. I had to punch a shot under branches to a short sided flag up 10 feet of slope, then stop it because the green runs entirely back to front. What a mess. I also lipped out 2 eagle putts from 8 and 12 feet on two of the par fives. Flew 5 yards over the flag on a par 3, thought I holed it, but it one-skipped off the fringe into the rough. I hit 12/14 fairways, some due to the 20 degree EXS Pro that I’m testing for MGS, hit 9 greens, and took 31 putts. Change the one really bad shot, and hole one more putt and I’d be looking very near a PB at that course. Anyway....I was pleased with my ball striking today, putting was mediocre. My partner didn't have a very good day, but we had fun. We played 6somes and one of the men in our group aced #9 par 3 (playing 135 yards). Interestingly enough, that wasn't the only ace on that hole from the same tees today. Popular Post sirchunksalot
52 (9 holes) 5/7 fairways 0 greens 16 putts (2 one putts, 7 two putts, 0 three putts+) Not the best round today, I am finding it's hard to break 50 lately over the course of nine holes and today was no different. My driving was the best it's been in a while and my putter was red hot! My approach game and wedges were cold enough to extinguish the fires of the other aspect of my game. I'm not saying every shot with the wedge was bad, just any shot from 20-100 yards was horrible. My greenside game was great, I left myself with putts of 11 feet or less 5 times. I just couldn't hit a somewhat full shot to save my life, I was on the hosel way too much. Very frustrating day with the wedges and it's definitely something I need to work on going forward if I want to lower my scores. After my round yesterday, I found a couple of junk balls in my bag and for giggles took them out on the range and tried something different with the fairway woods. Instead of my normal slow, methodical backswing I upped the tempo and hit two very good shots. I tried the same swing thought today and it was the first time in I don't remember when that I didn't pull hook a driver. The new F9 3&5 woods continue to impress with both their distance and forgiveness. I might end up lofting the 3 down just a bit, it's hitting closer to the 5 wood distance than I like. It's currently at 14.5 and I might take it down to 13-13.5 to get closer to where my old one was. I shouldn't complain, it's out distancing my previous one by 10 yards. I'm frustrated with my last few rounds, but today I saw glimmers of hope that it can get better. My handicap has taken a hit going from 18.1 to 19.7 lately and I want to improve that. If you have an alignment stick push it into the ground about 12-18 inches in front and outside of the ball, at a similar angle to the shaft. You should have it just outside the line enough that you can pass your clubhead completely under it if you were to continue straight down the line after the ball. When you swing try to feel your club go under the alignment stick. If you’re too much in to out or extending early you’ll hit the stick. cksurfdude, Grand Stranded, MattF and 2 others 5 Quote Stats: 5'4", Male, R-Handed, Moderate Tempo, Driver SS 115mph Driver: Taylormade SiM Max 9*, TM Ventus Blue 6X 3w/5w: Callaway X-Hot, S-flex Fubuki shafts 3h: Tour Edge EXS Pro, Smoke Black 80g 6.0 4i-PW: Mizuno MP-4, DG S300 Wedges: Titleist SM7 56* Wedge: Callaway Jaws w/ 12* of bounce

I just helped a buddy who was missing wedges in a similar manner. If you have an alignment stick push it into the ground about 12-18 inches in front and outside of the ball, at a similar angle to the shaft. You should have it just outside the line enough that you can pass your clubhead completely under it if you were to continue straight down the line after the ball. The last time I rubbed CBD cream on 3 times in an hour and 1/2. Then played golf with no pain and no tightness. Yes!! We have one but it's more the consistency of honey... a little sticky. It's almost gone, and my wife found another brand that was recommended by her hairdresser so will give that a try. cksurfdude and tony@CIC 2 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
Popular Post Kenny B
Well, after shooting an 83 yesterday and beating me by 8 strokes, my wife started out thinking that she was on to something, and was going to have a great round... she shot 99. It started on #2 tee box when a ball from the adjacent fairway landed about 10 feet from her as she was starting her backswing. Then on the par 5 #6 hole, she hit a poor-for-her drive then an OK second, and was 160y out in the right rough. She setup and hit a great shot that would have been close to the front of the green except..... a cart came from the adjacent fairway and stopped about 30 yards in front of the green just as she hit the ball. Her ball hit the nose of the cart and bounced back towards us. Then she went "Irish"; her term she uses when she screams at people. As you can imagine, it all went downhill from there. I have found that I can easily get in trouble if I say anything, so it was a quiet round for me. OTOH, I rebounded from my bad back and poor play with an acceptable round of 81... 43/38 with a double on each nine. I had two birdies, and both came on the next hole after making a bogey. Something that is rare for me. Both birdies were putts in the 8-10 foot range; one a downhill straight putt and the other an uphill R - L two-foot breaker. Maybe I'm back, but after what happened to my wife, I have cautious optimism. Popular Post Nunfa0
I have been getting 9 holes in after work, more just to get the hip moving and get some exercise. It also gave me a chance to try out the 2016 Cobra Forged Tec irons I bought. After about 6 rounds I decided to put the F9s back in the bag until summer. I had lost more than a club with the tecs and was struggling to get a consistent strike. After nine holes in the cold I remembered why I gushed so much about the F9s. They are so easy to hit, are nice and long and they still stop on a dime artful_golfer, sirchunksalot, MattF and 8 others 11 Quote In my cart Bag: Driver: King F9 9° - LH - Atmos Blue TS 6 Stiff Woods: King F9 - LH - 3/4 Wood - Atmos Blue 7 Reg Z U85 2 Iron Irons: T200 4 Iron AMT White S300 T100S - LH - 3-48* - AMT White S300 Wedges: Indi FLX- LH - 52° 56° 60° - True Temper Spinner Wedge shafts Putter: 2 Bar Hybrid Ball: Pro V1x Testing: Haywood CB/MB Combo Iron Set, 4-7 Cavity backs, 8-PW Muscle Backs, True Temper Dynamic Gold 105 Stiff, 2 Degrees stronger lofts. Popular Post MattF
I have no words to describe what happened yesterday. Shocking, demoralising, makes you want to quit comes to mind. I'm still hitting that awful 90° right off the irons shot. The only glimmer of hope was on the long par 3 #12. Playing 186 so of course I smoke a 4 iron 206 off the back. I got the name of a coach, so I'm going to give him a call during the week and try to set something up. tony@CIC, Nunfa0, sirchunksalot and 11 others 11 3 Quote In the bag: Driver: Darkspeed X 9° UST Mamiya LIN-Q M40X Blue 7F4 Fairway: Apex UW 19° & 21° Project X HZRDUS Smoke RDX Black 5.5 Irons: JPX 923 HMP 5-PW UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Wedges: T-22 Denim Copper 48°, 52° & 56° UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Putter Sycamore 005 Wide Blade Bag: Fairway 14 stand bag Balls: Chrome Tour Cart: CaddyLite ONE Ver. 8 God Bless America, God save the King, God defend New Zealand and thank Christ for Australia! silver & black
I played yesterday morning with my brother. I shot even par on the front 34 and 42 on the back for a 76. It was 90* and we might have had a few too many beers on the back...lol. I hope my game continues like this, but we all know too well how fast it can go away! artful_golfer, fozcycle, Kenny B and 5 others

I came very close to quiting golf altogether and taking up professional needle point. Luckily I worked through it.
