Kanoito
Things are starting to come around... I've shot 82, 82, 83 in the last 2 weeks. Still have a couple of competitive rounds til the end of the season, so hopefully I can shoot it when it counts. The new SZ driver is definitely longer, I'm carrying some bunkers I couldn't before, but the % of fairways hit is still too low for my liking. And only had one 3-putt, which is nice. GolfSpy_SHARK
Great day, but like I referred in CCC4 with @GB13 my putting is sh1t right now. 40/40’with multiple 3 putts. Not due to bad chipping either. 9 fairways 11 greens. 11 pars/6 bogeys/1 double bedt purchase this year is the push cart. The course today is Blackstone national and is probably one of the toughest to walk but I felt great during and after, feel like I actually am getting something out of playing. I followed arccos recommendations today and the waiting menu for club selection had me dying! and the blemish of the day. CarlH
Mr Double Bogey has done it again. 39 on the front with a double, 39 on the back with another double for a smooth 6 over 78. Both doubles were just lack of concentration -- i.e. no penalty, just dumb azz play. And, despite have numerous birdie opportunities today, I squandered them. To my credit, we're in a really hot spell (100*+) and the super is pouring the water to the greens and fairways in an attempt to stay ahead of the heat. cciciora13
I've been trending in the right direction for a while now, but always seem to have a couple of errant shots which limit me from shooting even or under par. Today I finally put it all together. I shot my best 9 hole round in a while 35 (-1). Made 3 birdie putts but was 2 under after 8 holes and then hit one in the water. Still was able to scramble for a 5. Felt good to finally put a round together. Nice round!! Tough to concentrate for 18 holes in 100º+ heat. We are up to nearly 110º every day this week, and our course is dried out in spots. We have a lot of mounds on the course, and they can water all night long, but the low areas are soaked and the tops are burnt to a crisp. I'll get a few pics IF we play this weekend. Mtbryant01
79 42/37 9 pars, 2 birdies 30 putts (only 1 3 putt) 5 penalties (I’ll get to that) I played my home course today, Robert Trent Jones Valley course with one of my regular golf buddies. I got to the course about a hour early and went to go hit some balls on the range. Got around to my driver and hit one, I thought man that sounded weird. I pick up the club and notice a big crack on the bottom of the face. No clue how it happened, but thankfully I bought the club through the head pro here at this RTJ. I was able to drop it off and let me handle getting a new head from Ping for me. Disclaimer: I have only had this driver for about a month now. Back to my round, I don’t have a driver, so I’m having to borrow my buddies driver. His driver is the M5 compared to my G410 plus. Let’s just say I lost a ball off the tee on the first 3/4 holes that I needed a driver for. It took me until the back 9 to finally figure it out. Thankfully my irons were on fire today and saved me from my long journey on the tee box. I was pretty stoked about breaking 80 with 5 penalties. Could have been one of my PR days as my best par 72 record is 77. Ping stands behind their clubs. I had a 6i replaced after a year of play. One of the guys we regularly play with snapped the shaft of his driver on the range about 3 weeks ago. The driver was probably 6-7 years old, and he thought he would just get a new shaft put in it. He tried to get a rental from the clubhouse as we headed to the 1st tee, but the "COVID rules" are... no rentals. So, one of the club house guys let him use his personal driver. Now this guy has decent club speed but is wild off the tee. He usually doesn't break 100. His drives with the borrowed driver were much better than he ever did with his driver. The next week he had a brand new Callaway Mavrik driver, and he has been breaking 100 regularly. He should have broken it years ago!! Popular Post Golfspy_CG2
Haven't had a chance to get an 18 hole round in for several weeks until last nght due to several rain-outs after 9 to 12 holes. Played my best front nine ever on our toughest course 41, but then threw up a triple bogey on a pretty simple No. 10 hole That was a sign of things to come. Roller Coaster back nine of 7,3,7,3,7,4,7,5,5 for 48 in total 89. I hit the ball as solid as I have all year. The 7 (two of them par 5's) came as a result of the wind really playing havoc on some long carries over cross hazards. And my putting was probably as off as it had been all year. But the good stuff, average drive was maybe 15 yards longer than it had been, thanks to some recent lessons that have really helped me with my turn. And my wedge game around the green was really on point. cksurfdude, downlowkey, edingc and 9 others 11 1 Quote G430 Max 10K TSiR1 15.0 Aldlia Ascent 60g TSR2 18.0 PX Aldila Ascent 6og TSi1 20 Aldila Ascent Shafts R T350 5-GW SteelFiber I80 SM10 48F/54M and58K S159 48S/52S/56W/60B Select 5.5 Flowback 35" ProV1 Play number

Is that the case? If so, what do you think contributed to that? Better fit clubs? More practice? Mental game? Honestly playing 9 hole rounds kinda feels like I have a vanity cap when it combines them in the ghin app. I'm currently at a 7.7 because of my past few after work 9s have been decent scores, but it feels like if I had played 18, I probably would've had a chance to have a meltdown and the universe would've balanced itself. That said, I don't think anything has changed with me swing-wise nor have I made any substantial equipment changes. Swing wise I'm just trying to not move off the ball in my takeaway, simple thoughts. The only non-clubho thing I've done that might've had a significant change is playing lighter wedges (or at least they feel lighter overall). I have no idea if the Callaway wedges I was playing before were actually heavier overall, but the s300 shaft and I are not a match. My wedge shaft experiment was surprisingly successful, though I probably shouldn't be surprised because the principle behind it is something that most fitters commonly do -- a little heavier, a little softer. Mentally, I've come to accept that I'm not as bad a putter as I thought, my proximity to hole just sucks. Credit to @THEZIPR23 for that realization. At the same time, I'm not good enough to attack every pin so accepting the "play to the middle and 2-putt" strategy has probably saved me a stroke or two when I don't choke and 3-putt. Doesn't feel like I'm playing better really, just feels like I'm better at avoiding double bogey now. If that makes sense? Jmikecpa
Well finally, a year in the making and I put together the round I have been trying to put together. Played Ballyowen today and started with a birdie on 1 with 3 wood off the tee and a 54* wedge to a foot. Made a sloppy bogey on 3 and then it kicked in. Hit an6 iron on the Par 3 4th to a foot after it caught the left side of the hole and lipped our. Two more bi dies coming in for -3 33 on my way out. Started the back 9 with an eagle on 10 after a good drive and a five iron to 12 feet. Birdie on 12 and then pars the rest of the way in for -3 on the back and a nice 66. For once this year it just all clicked and I played a complete round of golf. Doesn't feel like I'm playing better really, just feels like I'm better at avoiding double bogey now. If that makes sense? Take credit, you are playing better. You have adapted your strategy to hit the green and 2 putt; play for bogey at worse. My coach reminds me of this everytime we talk about my game. Establish the right metrics and play to a set strategy. If that makes sense? Funny @cnosil mentioned his coach reminding him of this, mine has done the same. When I'm in trouble now, my thoughts are usually more along the lines of, "What can I do to avoid making worse than bogey?" sirchunksalot, cnosil, fozcycle and 6 others 9 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 7.5 / Anti-Cap: 13.0 (Last Updated Feb. 19, 2024) Driver: Callaway Paradym TD (10.5°, -1/N), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Fitting Post 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", Aerotech SteelFiber i110cw Stiff 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. MattF
I can say that the score didn't reflect how I was striking the ball. I played with one of the starters and because he knows me he said he noticed something that I wasn't doing...I wasn't finishing my shots and following through all the way. When I started actually finishing a shot my case of the rights disappeared, funny about that. Now I just need to work on bunkers because when you take 3 shots to get out, there's something wrong. sirchunksalot, CarlH, MaxEntropy and 5 others 8 Quote In the bag: Driver: Darkspeed X 9° UST Mamiya LIN-Q M40X Blue 7F4 Fairway: Apex UW 19° & 21° Project X HZRDUS Smoke RDX Black 5.5 Irons: JPX 923 HMP 5-PW UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Wedges: T-22 Denim Copper 48°, 52° & 56° UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Putter Sycamore 005 Wide Blade Bag: Fairway 14 stand bag Balls: Chrome Tour Cart: CaddyLite ONE Ver. 8 God Bless America, God save the King, God defend New Zealand and thank Christ for Australia! CoCoRover
I haven’t been able to break 90 in a few years, pre-parent days, and it’s only happen a few times. Lately I’ve been playing great, just not getting it done. Last night though, things were clicking. 42 on the front and never made a putt. Back nine things got a little dicey, a couple blow up holes, unlucky bounce, one bad swing, actually grabbed my nine instead of six . I’m nine over through 7, I can bogey the last two for a 47 and get it done! AND they blow the horn for lightning in the area.... my net score forces me to post double bogey, bogey for 90 on the nose. Blue balled and bitter! MattF, cnosil, cksurfdude and 1 other 2 2 Quote Cocorover

Maybe you're not finishing the shot in the bunkers either. Do you finish the bunker shot with the club over your shoulder? cksurfdude, Rickp, sirchunksalot and 1 other 4 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
