How'd you play?

Got out this morning for the roll up. Last night I played 9 holes, and was just slowing my take away. I had noticed on the R10 my face angle was a bit open but path was relatively consistent. So I slowed the take away and concentrated on not starting it with my hands.
It seemed to work and I played well, today I carried on in the same way and to be fair tee to green was good. The stableford score of 34 was acceptable, and I think my putter lost me 6 points ( we have had a few words and I think we will have a bit of break from each other ) .

I also was getting confident with shaping my tee shots and getting into optimum position for speed .. So I need to remember this, groove it, and sort the putter out.

Vokey SM6 60 degree M grind

We played a glow ball tournament tonight. Playing in the dark is hard! However, we won the event!

Always wanted to play one of those outside. I did one inside it just wasn’t as cool as outside looks

Been playing for about 2 years in total. Winter breaks and a 6month period when I got sick. Starting to feel like myself again and recently played a “okay” round.
I currently have custom fit Cobra LTDx irons/wedges, a Vokey 60(cause my short game has been the best part of my game, and a Maverick 9 deg. Driver. Driving is the worst part of my game so My 4 iron usually takes alot of the long game abuse.

We just play anything outside 10ft is an automatic 2 putt. Played the other day and had a putt like ping pong across uphill when it should’ve come back downhill

Yesterday it was 24º when I got up.  Our 8:33 tee time began at 10:45 after the frost delay.  We started on the easier back nine because it has fewer shady areas.  Shot 8 over 43, but 5 of those shots came on the par 4 #16 and no penalties were involved!!  Don't ask!  Made the turn to the front nine and had 3 bogeys for a 40.  So... 83.  Only hit one decent drive all day; not used to this cold weather and being bundled up!

Back at it today after a slightly longer frost delay.  😬

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

It’s been awhile, but I finally got to the course. I’ve been busy interviewing for a promotion and training new employees. Only got 27 holes this weekend due to the weather, but it’s better than no golf. Scores aren’t really where I want them or even where I feel like they should be, but that’s golf. I found something this morning that gives me a ton of hope. My GIR are up compared to my usual, just not making as many birdies as I was having before the break. I have a big 2 man this upcoming weekend and I hope I can find time this week to gain more confidence with my swing.

After a month of bad golf at Hilton Head and at home, I finally finished a decent round today, 40/45:85 with 1 birdie on Par 4 #9. With my handicap at 10, I felt like it was an an okay round. Putts were only 33.

Well done Sir, well done!

38/38 at Granite Falls North yesterday which not only was part of my teammate and I winning the round and a beer from our competitors but resulted in my new PB index of 7.7.  Hey, it's only a 0.1 improvement but it's an improvement nonetheless.  This has become a fun contest with myself... just how low can I go?  🫣

Played two odd rounds in what might very well be the last weekend of the season for me.

My Saturday round was a good 91(+19) from 6900 yds. Honestly, the conditions were the hardest that I had ever played in… and I’m used to playing in the cold and rain! It was 20°c (68 F) and cloudy but the wind was absolutely crazy! There’s simply no other way to put it with gusts reaching as high as 80 km/h (50 mph).

It was a good 91(+19) because after adjusting for handicap (i.e., maxing out at net double bogey) I shot 85(+13)😂.

Indeed, I did not get a single double bogey, triple bogey or quadruple bogey but I did get a quintuple bogey (+5) and a septuple bogey (+7)!!!🤣

I had two consecutive drives OB on the 7th hole and ended up logging a 12 (+7) and two consecutive drives OB on the 11th hole for a 9(+5) along with another penalty stroke off the tee on the 2nd hole.

Other than these 5 shots, I played great, by my own standards, and especially considering the unreasonable playing conditions!

Played two odd rounds in what might very well be the last weekend of the season for me.

My Sunday round was a good 80(+8) in what is most likely my season finale under a clear blue sky and a crisp 5°c (41 F) weather. In contrast to yesterday’s round, there was absolutely no wind at all!

It was quite an odd round because I was not able to score a single par on the first 12 holes but I was still on track for a perfectly decent round. After the 11th hole and two consecutive birdies, I thought that it would be a good story to shoot my handicap index (i.e., 9-over 81) without managing a single par😂. The first one finally came on the 13th hole and a few more followed.

I had two completely avoidable penalty strokes off the tee due to poor course management and club selection. Other than that, it is a perfect round to end my season with 4 birdies, 33 putts, 4/14 FIR and 9/18 GIR.

Played pretty well today. Was 1-over going into the 8th hole and made triple after a really bad tee shot and two attempts to get out of the trees.

41/40 -- 2 bad holes from shooting in the 70s. Ended with a tap in birdie after hitting the green in 2 (par 5) so that felt good.

I got out and played on Saturday which may be the last time for the year, which if it was, I ended on a good note.  Shot by best round of the year.  The soft green sure helped me and my lag putting was on point.  Even ended with a birdie on the 18th... it was a good day.

Very wet conditions and was raining on and off. No carts. Walked and carried. Shot 85, +12 right on my handicap, but on a pretty tough course from what I am told. Somehow didn’t lose a ball all day even though there were leaves almost everywhere. Playing partners helped find a couple that were plugged and covered in mud and under leaves. Still had fun!

Another cold morning yesterday with a 2 1/2 hour frost delay; didn't tee off until 11am.  Shot 42/40 with a birdie on #1.  After that it was was a just hang on day, though I only had pars and bogeys... no doubles or others!!  It's just hard to get and keep a tempo going when it's cold and I'm wearing multiple (5) layers.  I think I'm a snowbird who doesn't fly south.  😆

Played in a scramble this past Saturday, at a friends club that I grew up at. We didn’t tee off until 11, but he asked we get there early & we could go play a few holes before we start. This is a 9 hole course, with a very limited range. So, everyone else had the same idea! It was pretty packed, but the way it was setup, when we left the clubhouse, we could drive beside the range & tee off on hole 6, a par 3. So off we go. I hit a good shot, to about 16ft, drained the putt. Off to 7, which is usually a driveable par 4 for most. It plays about 280yds-285yds, over a lake, but the green in guarded by a creek. The tee boxes were getting reworked, so they had moved us up to the dam by the small lake in front of the boxes. It ranged out to 209yds. I hit an absolute gem, to 8ft. Made the putt! Off to 8, a par 5, which is usually where I make my hay. Blast a drive down, had a PW left, put it on & 2 putt for an easy birdie. So now I’m thinking, damn, I’m -3 after 3, wth is going on. So onto 9 we went. 9 is a drivable par 4 for some, it’s a dogleg right. Card has it @ 333yds, but on a direct line playing closer to 300-305yds. So I hit one over the trees, and flies on the green, but rolls through. The green sits elevated, so it was going to be a tough chip. But I’m feeling good, hit my 58° up there to within tap in range. So I’m -4, through 4! Like, literally on fire! I’m wanting to play at least the next 3 holes, bc 1 is drivable, 2 is a par 5, and 3 is a shorter par 4, that’s east to score on. But we don’t. We hangout and wait for the scramble to start. We go on & shoot -21, and finish 3rd. But what could’ve been………

Dealing with sciatica after hurting my back while river rafting on my honeymoon, but managed to get down to the practice green today for some chipping. Took a dozen shots to get going, but once I knocked off the rust was surprised with how well I was hitting. Still using the HackMotion Pro, and have been trying to work on consistant movement, and it's still absolutely helping with that.

Played a horrible 43/50 today. Putting with my EVNROLL ER6R today was simply atrocious. Long putts okay, but short putts were not so good. Will be going back to my blade putter on Friday.

Archer or arrow? 😉

Decent round today at a new course to me. Played with some septuagenarians who were just whooping up on us! They put on a short game clinic that my buddy and I were happy to watch.

Yep!  It's the only thing we got left in the tank!!  😂

I have only respect for the seniors out there man! One can only hope to be healthy enough to continue swinging. I pray you have decades yet.

I always thought the same thing 30 years ago.  Thanks, but not sure about decades... the other day my wife was having a "lively" discussion with some acquaintances that I don't know very well.  She said "I was "a hundred years old"!! (She's 67.)  I said: "Well, if you are counting by 50's, I guess at 76 I would be, because of rounding."  🤣

After hitting the range to try out the new grip on the driver, decided to go play a quick 9.

Birdied the first, and lipped out the 3rd par 3 from 6ft and ended up 3 over with 4 straight bogies the last 4 holes.

Driver felt really good. Going to give it a few more rounds but the rest of the bag may be following the JumboMax XS.

Finally starting to play some better golf after several months of reasonably ordinary golf.  Joined a new club in September after 20 years at my previous one, and haven't been playing much due to work and travel.

The course is shorter, but narrower and the greens are much smaller. Shot 7 over to play to my handicap 2 rounds ago, and backed it up with a 4 over playing off 7 on Saturday.  Managed to win the A grade comp and also won a "board" event that was played over the 2 rounds. Took me 13 years to win my first board event at the old club, less than 2 months here!  The fact that I didn't know about until afterwards probably helped me avoid choking.

I can practice off grass hitting my own balls now, and I'm pretty sure that's been good for me.
