It's honestly amazing. One of the nicest courses I've played and expecially when you can get winter/twilight rates ($70 with cart and balls) it's a tough deal to beat

2 wins this calendar year, 3 wins this season so far. I have had a good stretch lately. 1st, 2nd, 1st. Short game is the key for me.. its been solid for awhile now, it makes up for my terrible GIR stats.

It was nice to out at the home course again. It was a perfect spring day. only one lost ball and it wasn't on my nemesis hole! I actually had my best score ever on that nemesis hole. Its the number one most difficult hole on the course. Its hole number 3 at Radisson Greens. It's a tight par 5, water along the right side of the fairway and trees lining the left. The green is fronted by water and today the pin was on the right front. My drive caught the trees on the right at the dog leg and had to punch out. Then played the rest of the hole with what has become the most trustworthy club in my bag. A Ping G410 Crossover #4. I hit a beautiful short for me. It was over the water with a fade into the wind. The shot was about 165 yards and it ended up just short of the green. Chipped up and 2 putted for a 7. More importantly, I didn't lose a ball into the water.

Well I had time from 11:30 to 2:30.....and like any sensible golfer I said I can get 18 in if I am a single....well Maplegate Country Club was wide open and I did just that. 2:08 to be exact. Was perfect out, almost 70* slight breeze and the course conditions were FANTASTIC.

79 (+7) with a double (on the first hole to boot) 7 bogeys, 8 pars and 2 birds!

Course conditions were dry and had some wind assistance on a few holes. Off the tee I had 321, 319, 278 and a few others sprinkled in that realm. Also had a 266 and 248 3 wood....The golf gods were favorable on the big sticks today. Will be posting in something in the "still aceless thread" as well......Still aceless though

Missed a few putts and had some DOHHHH wedges. Some tough lies and played ping pong but all in all a beauty of a round when I was not sure if I would be able to play today

This was a fun shot (266 3 wood did not draw and just got pinned behind this tree but there was a gap). I pulled it a little too much and ended up in the trap on the left side of the green) 2 putt bogey

I walked a links style course from gold tees (longer than white, shorter than blue) and I dragged my butt around most of the 6300y + 3 miles extra walking through fescue searching for my ball.

+20 92 for net +9 is misleading as I struck the ball really well all day. I played about 13 of the holes below my handicap, 4 net birdies, but triple bogey on 2 different par 3s destroyed the score. 3x 3 putts sealed the "bogey golfer" score but really if I could erase a couple yips inside 30y and the bad targeting that went in a lake I would have posted a decent score.

It really was a beautiful day today at Gypsy Hill Golf Course in Staunton, VA. Clear blue skies, no wind, and around 40 degrees. I would say perfect. They punched the greens a few weeks ago, so there was still some residual sand on the greens, but other than that I had a very enjoyable round of golf. Typically, when I mis-hit, I slice. Today for some unknown reason I swapped my slice with a hook....<sigh>. Even so, while I did not have the best score I have ever had, I did come close, so no complaints from me.

I shot a 59 today....

on an 18 hole Par 54 course.

It was a good day. +5 is a personal best over 18 holes of any type. Had three birdies (one with a chip in) a whole mess of pars and zero bogey +. Hoping to keep this run of good play going into a tournament on Thursday. My swing feels like it's in a good place and I have some check point feels to find it again if I get out of sorts.

Owen didn't want to join me this morning so I walked the back nine at River Heights alone today. Beautiful weather, 70ish with a slight breeze.

Got all the FIRs today, which sounds great but only one was a solid drive and two others actually bounced off trees and landed back in the fairway.

I'd put my short hybrid back in the bag to start the year and I don't think it's going anywhere. It's quickly become my utility club and today I experimented with it as my bump and run option to some decent success.

Highlight was a forty foot putt that grazed the edge and left a tap in par. A little better about lining up my putts but still need to be more mindful.

Next lesson: stop thinking I can go over the trees!

We had our 2nd league night last night. My irons were on point which was a stark contrast from the weekend round I played, but I could not get off the tee at all. I ended up with a 5 over 40 on the back which is pretty typical for me.

Weather was beautiful, albeit quite breezy. The golf was UGLY.

Got off the tee pretty well but approach and short game were terrible. Irons were either piercing through the wind and long or ballooning and getting the crap beat out of them by the wind. Pitches were biting when I didn't expect them to and rolling out when they were supposed to bite. Hard to score when those things are happening. Result was too many doubles for a +12 (48). So far my league scores are 38, 44, 48. If that trend continues, be on the lookout for some deals in the BST forum

Was down in Fl for my kid's spring break and got two rounds in. The first one was at Zellwood Station Golf Club with my brother and brother-in-law. Hadn't picked up the clubs since late August of last year and literally had no warm up swings. Shot a 96 which is better than I thought I would shoot. It wasn't about the scoring that day, it was about hanging out with my brother whom I only get to see in person once a year.

On a last minute whim, I got the family out and my brother in law and played Arlington Ridge. Temps were in the low 90* when we started. The swing was on! Shot a 37 on the front 9. We had paid for 18 but with the family in tow, I thought we would only get 9 in. Luckily we took 2 cars so my wife and daughter bailed but my brother-in-law and son wanted to keep on playing. Started the back 9 with a birdie par birdie combo and mostly pars until the ranger came by and said we needed to speed up play to get the carts in before it gets dark (we were playing during the twilight rate). Well, promptly shot an 8 on a part 5. I was able to right the ship and finish out the back to a tune of a 40 for a total score of 77. Been a long time where the every facet of the game was in sync so I just basked in the thought that I can still go somewhat low. My brother-in-law on the other hand, didn't fair so well. He had a two way miss going at one point.

First league round of the year. I’ll take it. Could have been more conservative on some shots taken but wanted to work on chipping near the green instead of just putting out. Led to some extra shots but I’m ok with it

Well, my day of rest went well. Aches and pains have shoved off. Think I'm ready to go develop some more.

Booked 9 holes on golf now, $15 with discount. Should have enough time to get to Colonial Terrace to play another 9 afterwards. They are charging $14 to walk this opening month of April.

I'll update this with the thread-appropriate "How'd you play" content when I get back.

Started with a triple bogey 8, birdie 2 and double bogey 7. I was deflated at this point, but I walked up to the 4th tee determined to use the rest of the holes to fix whatever is happening with my driver slice.

I par'd the next 2 holes and managed 5 on all the remaining holes. So I finished +9, but after that start I wanted to play more. Hit 3 perfect drives holes 6-7-8 but struggled inside 100y. 2x 3 putts toward the end I was playing at the people behind me's pace. They were riding and we were walking so I had them on the tee box most if the round, but after I looked at the time I became more rushed. We were behind a 2 hr pace at one point (7s and 8s take longer than 4s and 5s)

I played 9 at Colonial Terrace afterwards, similar story +8 on 9 holes. This time nothing worse than a 6, but too many of them and not enough 4s and 5s on my scorecard for my taste.

I jogged the first 9 (not gonna lie I kind of enjoyed doing that) and I finished very quickly never had to really look for a ball helped. Now I have this bug that I just want to play at noon every day if I can get out as a single lol

Today felt like a waste of money. Raining, punched greens, sand everywhere. Played like garbage. My expectations were low, but this was well below that. Probably see a wedge and a UDI for sale soon. Haha

Got to sneak out for an afternoon round of 9 yesterday with how beautiful the weather is in PA right now. Shot a 41 at my local muni. Driver was on fire, had two drives over 300 yards, and didn't lose any off the tee, which is new for me. Approach game was a little off, which is also new for me. Luckily the short game was there and was able to get up and down on a couple of holes. Only doubled and three putt one hole. Overall positive start to the season on my quest to cut the handicap in half. Here's a look at my 115yd approach shot after my 310yd drive.

ya, its spring aeration season. I have learned to call ahead and find out when they do it. Usually courses in the area stagger so not every course is punched at once. I am going out Sunday to Forest hills. They punched almost two weeks ago so should be good, especially with the rains we got. Hopefully the low points drain out

Well, I can finally say that I am fully cleared for golf again! As I'm sure some may remember, I tore the ligaments in my ankle an hour before teeing off in a tournament I was the defending champ in last August. With my weight being a factor and improper care at the start of the injury (I may have played the 18 holes anyway, I drove 5 hours to be there) it took much longer than the estimated 8-12 weeks to be able to golf again. I tried a couple times in the last few months but it went terribly. Happy to come on here and be able to contribute to this again!

I played 9 holes over the weekend and shot +4 which by my usual standards isn't great, but I played pain free and hit the ball extremely well! I had all my distance, putting was on point, and the only real concern was timing my swing up which caused some shots to go the wrong direction. All in all, I consider it a success. Shot of the day was on a par 5, after hitting a bomb of a drive I had 191 left and hit a 7 iron pin high with only 14 feet left for eagle. I lipped out the eagle but made the birdie.

What a day! Played Pinehurst #2 today. Was looking forward to the round. Weather was around 46* when I got there. Warming up at the range started well, but then it seemed I couldn’t hit the ball straight at all. I quickly blamed the sunrise! For those of you who have been there, you’ll recall you hit into the sun in the early morning, it’s blinding!

Enough of this, headed to the 1st tee to meet my playing partners. Three guys from Connecticut. Played the White Tees. Some quick low lights then the highlights. Front nine I hit the driver well, but my 2nd shots all went everywhere! But somehow I was able to make a few pars getting up and down. Through the 1st five holes I was 2 over. 6th hole…disaster! Double! 4 over!

Then the streak started! It just came all together! Finished the last 3 holes on the front with a par and two birdies. 38! To make this long story shorter, on 10 I made my 3rd birdie in a row. A first for me! Finished the last 8 holes 1 over, had my 4th birdie on the par 3 15th. 36 on the back, overall a 74. This stat is crazy…I only had 23 putts for the day. Which translates to missing the greens but not by much!

Walked 9 holes both Monday and Tuesday at my home course Brookwoods . I played better than I normally do, with the sole exception of chipping. I keep trying to just make the green on my approaches because if I have to chip, I'm adding at least a stroke to the hole due to something dumb. For the life of me, I can't seem to stop mishitting from like 25-50 yards out. I'm fine a few yards off the fringe by just doing almost a putting motion with my gap or 8 iron.... but when I'm further away or have to go over a bunker and have to do quarter/half/anything other than a full on swing, I'm thinning it, or chunking it, or mis-hitting and the ball goes 45 degrees to my right. My scorecard reflects all the holes I'm having to chip on.

Played the front-9 at Heather Ridge GC in Aurora, CO. I felt pretty good going into it but oh man was I wrong... You would have thought the fairways were made of water with the way I was smacking balls into lakes! On the bright side, I didn't hit a single double bogey - only 3 triples, 3 singles, and 3 pars LOL. With the stats I had you would think it was a much better 9 but sometimes that's the way golf goes. Playing the same 9 again this afternoon so I'll update this post with the same front-9 score again and see how different they are.

Well that didn't go much better... I have been feeling way to uncomfortable over the ball lately. I am working on going I>O with my swing path while I'm figuring out the draw my miss is becoming a pull-draw and resulting in going way left, so that's is creating a doubt when I line up to the ball.

Sounds a lot link my game and I have been working on my short game for the last 2+ years.

Just beautiful today. Not a cloud in the sky, 80* which for mid MI is decent this time of year. Walked 9 holes, still a bit muddy but did OK. Shot 42 from whites, got chased by a pair of nesting geese, and I have gained a whole new level of respect and appreciation for those who routinely play in windy environments. 35-40 mph gusts and 25-30 sustained all afternoon. This isn't easy. Heck just trying to walk into it is a struggle. Beautiful day for sure.

Technically second round of the year but first one in decent conditions where grass was firm and well cut, greens not so much but not terrible either. 2 pars, 3 singles, 2 doubles and a triple. Some really nice hits and mostly long straight shots without a single slice, which in itself is remarkable - and so I have! Played same ball entire round so under clear sunny skies without a jacket, will call this a good start to the 2023 season.
