First round of even par in my life. How much does it count since it was at a par 61 which should really be a par 57, that’s not for me to decide. Was not perfect and certainly has some poor shots but also had some good ones. Had two brilliant 6* irons that led to a birdie and an eagle. See below, hit this shot from 198! Weird game golf can be but gosh do I love it!  
Also look at this poor tree and the work it has gotten over the years!

A bright spot seems to be very few penalties, which was my score killer in the past.

Lessons are starting to pay off. Had my best round of the year going and then I got into my own head and promptly bogied the last two holes. All in all, a very good round. Drove well, approach game is improving and putted well (32 putts).  Only problem, I  just may have to get my wife a L.A.B. Putter

First round with the LINK and the MP25 irons. 

Was a solid round with all clubs minus the driver. Nearly had a chip in eagle, but made a nice par and overall felt solid. Just wish I could get the driver really sorted out.

I sound like a broken record.....but....had to start on the back again today, spraying the front 9 greens with growth retardant.  Someone want to explain to me why it is that I get a Birdie and then always follow it up with a Bogey?  Got around to the front and had to wait for a 3 some.  3 putted the second green and basically did the same thing from the fringe on 3.  Threesome let me play through, this time.  Same guys.   Driver was good today....'cept on 8, which is a drivable par 4.  Yanked it left and ended up down the hill on 7 fairway....had a putt to save par but no bueno.  Very dewy on the back as you can see in the pic above and no dew on the front...makes for some putting adjustments.   My best round this year!

Blue tees rating 69.1 and 123 slope. Not my best, but the conditions were very hard. Winds in excess of 30 mph. So, shooting in the 70’s was a relatively good round! Hope to have a lower round this week.

A tale of 2 sides today. I shot a 46 on the front and a 37 on the back. Course was really wet. We got over an inch of rain last night from the hurricane Beryl. Not much roll in the fairways, but the ball would stick on the green.

After being bedridden for 36 hours or so, I woke up, coughed my head off and decided to go play golf.   What made me do that?   Boredom for being cooped up for two days?  Just responding to my routine (if it's Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday, I must be playing golf)?  I'm not sure.  I purposely created two pairing sheets for today.  One with me playing and one without me where I'd send everybody off and let them fight for the pot in the end.  When I went to bed, I intended to not play.  When I woke up, my fever was gone, I had some congestion and but decided to give it a go!  In hindsight, I did forget that I was up at 3am coughing so hard that I had to go to the living room to sleep in a recliner so I wouldn't wake up my wife (I'm a nice husband like that).  So, getting over being sick and lack of sleep:  what could be a better combination for a great round!

I had visions of thinking being sick might actually be a good thing!  I was weakened by the flu like symptoms so maybe it would slow down my swing.  In hindsight, that had to be the fever talking!  The fact I shot an 86 (with a course handicap of 11) is a minor miracle.  

At face value, some of the numbers looked promising.  Hitting 93% of my fairways, 27 putts and 6 up and downs for par.  Unfortunately, those six up and downs were my only pars!  I had 0% greens in regulation.  My Shot Scope data exhibited what I feared:  every club was 4-6 yards shorter today and I didn't make the necessary corrections.  Lesson learned.

One positive was we had a heat index over 100.  So I drank plenty of fluids and sweated them right out!  Hopefully, the flu sweated out as well!

Now I have two days to rest, regain some strength and be ready for day two of this week's league play.   I'm hoping for a better showing!

Played the Canyons at TPC San Antonio. Played the Tournament/Players Combo with a 70.8 rating and slope of 126. It was awesome. Shot even par with 2 bogies and 2 birdies. Hit 11 fairways, 11 greens and had 29 putts. Near greens was 16. Beautiful track, fast greens and fun to play. It rewarded good shots and let you know about bad shots. The last four holes were into the wind. Absolutely recommend the facility and courses. They also gave me a retired military rate of 129! I am going to come back when I can play the Oaks. The practice facilities are also very nice! Here are some pictures:

Played from the Purple tees this time since the last time I played from the Whites, I think I had 5 approach shots with my 8 iron.  Course slope went up 10 points and the rating went up 1.4 strokes.

Length had nothing to do with my issues today.  Putting was less than stellar. I was +2.5 S.G. over my target 10 hcp but my putting was -3.1 S.G. 

38 putts total, 0 1 putts.  Missed just over the edge, stopped just short or lipped out half a dozen times, 3 of them on birdie putts.  Close but no cigar.  3 penalty strokes.

Tomorrow starts my review of the Graphite Design Tour AD UB 6S shaft, so that should solve all these problems, right?

Tale of two nines. 53/42.  Front nine was rough. Only had two bogies, the rest were doubles. No pars. Just couldn’t hit driver well and approach play was crappy today. Back nine was a different story. Going into 18 I was +3 on the back and then tripled the last after taking a penalty on a bad drive. Got some good pictures otherwise and the wildlife was out as was the silhouette of Mt Hood.

Shot of the day was on 17. After overshooting the green by 15 yards (caught a 7i flush), I was on a down slope and the hole was in the front of the green with a big slope behind it. I opened up my 58° and flopped it to the fringe. It then rolled about 25’ and stopped 4’ past the hole for an easy par. Ignore Shotscope map as they redesigned the green and haven’t updated Google maps yet
