Still a terrible driving day but scrambled amazingly well today.

8 pars and 1 bogey(on 9) then 9 straight pars on the back. Left a couple out there with some birdie putts just coming up short.

I had a horrible round. Couldn't chip to save my life. My putting wasn't horrible at 36 putts, which is my season average. I had a few drives over 235 (235, 235, 247, 266), which is also good. My longest was cart path aided as I heard it hit 3 times. Average driving at 221, which is 16 more than season average.

Multiple lost balls / OB with the BRNR Mini though. I really need to find a driver I can control, as I'm just struggling with pretty much everything. Need some range time before the member-member next weekend, or I'm going to suck.

Triple and 3 bogeys for a 6 over round.    Putting was once again less than stellar;  just can't seem to get the longer putts to the hole.    Might have gone too feel based and need to get a bit more mechanical with the stroke.

Putter was working well today…greens were rolling true. I was humming along nicely then got stung by a wasp on the left forearm and finished with 3 bogies🤬 on 16, 17 & 18.

Got out again today and it seemed like it was going to be a good day.  However, the fates had it out for me today.  Didn't have as many blowups, but consistently couldn't do better than double bogie.  Scared birdie once, par a couple of times, but putting was so attrocious I couldn't convert anything.  Was chasing the dragon of the better ball striking from yesterday, but couldn't put it together today until about the 12th hole.  Things did improve on the back side, which is the harder of the two, but not enough to save the round.

PXL_20240804_175309636.jpg.9081e212428c69a044bcc89233773dfe.jpg Hole #Uno

The course surrounds were beautiful.  About the same cost as The Marshes, but a bit more ragged.  Burnt out fairways, gravel over busted asphalt cart paths, pock marked greens and hard bunkers was a stark comparison to yesterday.  But a really fun layout with some interesting features.  Back to back par 5's and some tricky par 3's. I couldn't get the greens figured out and was always missing by half a ball and long.  Gave more balls to the environment than you'd expect on such a low difficulty course.  It astounds me that I wasn't able to break 100 on this course, even the first time playing through.

PXL_20240804_170411442.jpg.c51095fc01b66a3bed460e89a477ec44.jpg What madman did this?

This hole was an easy 120 yard shot over marsh, but the green had three shelves, the bottom two were barely 30 square yards.  The bunkers almost take up more space than the greens.  And that hole position!

While this is technically a lower score than my round yesterday, I think my first score from The Marshes is a better tournament submission based on the hole by hole.  @Golf2Much, please use my score from The Marshes for your calculations, I don't think this one does much for us.

Didnt have my best stuff early, but I ground out a decent round. The birdie on 18 was a 25 foot putt from the fringe that was pretty cool. I must have burned the edge of the cup on at least 8 putts today.

Well, it finally happened. It might have been an off day for me but my son finally bettered me. It was a humbling day in many ways. It was a shaky yet good start with a couple of unforced errors leading to bogeys and three lip outs for birdies but I really thought I was in to something good. Then I ran into a brick wall with four double bogeys in five holes. Closed out well in the final 8 holes but the damage was done. So many woulda-coulda-shoulda opportunities but the worst was on 10.

Great drive and only 60 yards to the pin. Now, I’ve had several occurrences in my lifetime of the wedge shot where the wedge slides under the ball without the ball moving an inch. Very humiliating. But I took it to another level today. I not only slid the wedge under the ball without moving the ball, but I managed to take a divot in the process and had the ball stay in the divot now requiring me to blast said ball out of the divot. I really should have taken a picture but instead I just threw my club, lol. So, in short, it took me three shots to move the ball 60 yards, sigh. Sorry @Javs, but hoping my first round and your first round will be enough to finish on top.

Congrats to your son! Hey, no need for a sorry. We did our best and now we wait. Heck at least you got in another round. I was dead weight after I hurt my back. However, had two treatments and if we get to move on I should be able to get some rounds in next week. However it turns out, I enjoyed having you as my partner!

It has been far too long since I have posted in here. With the birth of a new child and work being insane I finally got to go out after only practicing at home for what felt like forever! I can honestly say the practice payouts have worked!

I had a wonderful round this week and had so much fun doing it! For sure the best was my putting. Only 28 putts in 18 holes, I have never been that low!

The driver is also on for once. I had so many wonderful drives into holes that I feel more confident than ever.

Also, A LOT has changed in my bag as of late and I will need to update that here soon.

Should you play golf when you have the flu??? Definitely not!!!! Your body does not want to be on the course.

Should you play golf if you are supposed to collect your wife's brand new car??? Also, definitely not!!!!! Your body and mind wants to be in the new car.

I had a particularly bad day due to both reasons as listed above.

Played the back nine first, first shot off the 10th tee, hooked the ball badly into penalty area....brand new ball gone. Drive off the 11th tee, again hooked a brand new ball gone into the penalty area. Bungled the 12th which is my favorite hole. On the 16th (par5) I hit a 321yd drive in the wrong direction into the rough between trees.  Had a good lie with 6iron to the green.  Hit that 2nd shot only 13yds because my body wanted to be in the new car.

Finished the back nine 8 shots over handicap.  Should have packed it in, but the wife was on a roll in the competition, so I had to stick it out.

On the 6th I hit a tree with the 2nd shot, then hit the reservoir with the 3rd shot and lost 30yds, 4th shot had to play safe.  Should have captured this on video and given some viewers a laugh.

Finished the day on 25 over par and did not even visit the 19th hole.  We rushed off to the dealership to collect wife's new car....must say, my body and mind recovered while sitting in the new car.

PS....wife did a 71 net for the day....she does not have the flu and she knew the dealership said that we do not have to rush to get her car.

SIM with manual putting on for the first time ever. Not a major fan but figured it would make it "more real" as sometime with auto putting my putt stroke count will be a little low and Ive been known to give a 6fter away a time or 2 haha.

Really trying to keep working on this Driver swing without it messing up the rest of my game as I've always struggle to differentiate between the swings.

hat madman did this?

This hole was an easy 120 yard shot over marsh, but the green had three shelves, the bottom two were barely 30 square yards.  The bunkers almost take up more space than the greens.  And that hole position!

That’s interesting. If you get out to forest hills, a mad man made a 200 yard plus par three (even from the whites!) with a steep slope from middle to front and then a mini tier way in the back. Bunkers guarding the green in the front and then a drop off behind. Talk about a madman! Looks like you had a real fun trip!

Maybe it's still the front 9, but where are the trees?  Asking as someone from the PNW.

We don't have a ton of trees on the course but in the surrounding neighborhoods. The back nine here tends to funnel the wind more (maybe a little lower elevation compared to the neighborhood) compared to the front. The front also tends to have more slope to the fairways and greens. So if you land in the wrong spot, you get put in a really bad position compared to the back.
