I few months back Bones posited that he would beat Lydia Ko if they played off the tips. I just got home from my club where I played a round being tailed by our resident touring pro, Ms Linsicome. She was playing with her boyfriend, who is making the transition from long drive to regular golf and another long drive guy. They played the tips 74.6, 144 slope 7058 yards at sea level. This course is a bear.

I spoke with Brittany in the parking lot, she shot 70, the boys, both pros, shot 69 and 74 respectively. Bones if you are stil a 3.5 differential you are a 7 on that course from the Gold tees according to the little USGA chart in the locker room. You aren't shooting a 70 on that course as a 7, Brittany didn't play close to her best golf, she was all over the place all day and Brittany is not as good a player as Lydia Ko although the margin is close, world number 1, world number 6. I don't see you beating her at this point. Get to a plus handicap and we can talk.

Brittany also said that Bayou from the Golds is more difficult that any of the courses they play on tour accept the courses used for the US Open. She said it would make a nice LPGA course from the blues.

This is somewhat on topic. Lincicome, who won the 1st LPGA major of the year, made a cool $375,000. Contrast that with Jordan Spieth's $1.8 million. That's a huge gap.

While I agree with you Rev, don't you think that Brittany would probably have a huge advantage over Lydia on that course? Brittany is the biggest hitter on the lpga and Lydia is 50th. There is a 20 yard gap between them. That means a lot when playing a course that long.

Btw I'm not sure if Bones got there yet or not but my last cap came out at +.5 on the 15th. You keeping up Bones?!

Wow I'm glad to see she's married! Always thought of her as being rather butch, fishing/bam-bam and scissor me timber and all, glad to hear I was mistaken!

Very cool that she seems rather personable as well. Always respect that from a celebrity.

Some pretty cool name dropping there Rev.  I don't think I'd ever be taking on someone that did for a living what I did for fun so Bones would be doing well to even come close methinks.

Those gals can play! On one of our courses down here Meg Mallon holds the overall course record period shot in an LPGA event years ago. She shot a 62. I am playing this afternoon with my Assistant Pro and a friend of his which is a lady college golfer and I have heard that not only is she hot looking but she is a hot player!

That's the point, we keep emphasizing distance and I don't think it matters as much as we suspect, at that level. Brittany was all over the place, I watched her knock it to the front edge from a spot I could only imagine getting back into the fairway from and I'm pretty creative out of trouble. Lydia would not be so all over the place and 250 straight goes a long way towards low scoring. Remember both guys that Brittany was playing with are fully capable of 350 yard plus drives even at Sea level. That's 70 or 80 more yards than her and yet she's beating them.

Congrats on being on the plus side. That's a great achievement. My best ever was 0.8. Note the lack of a plus sign in front of it. Right now I'm playing like a 12, although I'm showing signs of life.

@Zeasy my playing partner and I talked about that. Here's what we decided, we'd be happy to take the 350K, how about you? :). Seriously it's a professional sport, no doubt the guys on the PGA tour are better players than the gals on the LPGA, that's not what this is about. The tour that has bigger sponsor ship dollars, TV revenue and attendance figures will have the larger purses. The purses on the LPGA are bigger than the web.com and I'm thinking that the players on the web.com are better than the players on the LPGA. It flips at the mini tour or perhaps Hooters tour level in regards to ability.

@ Rookie you could be right of course. I don't keep up on that stuff and don't follow Twitter. I knew she was dating this guy because I met him on the driving range last year and I knew they were engaged because they mentioned it when she one the Kraft a couple of months ago. He seems like a great guy and she's very sweet so I'm happy for her. She should have asked me to do the wedding. :)

Years ago I played the number two player on U of Maryland's womems golf team as the men's and women's club champions played a friendly 18 holes of match play. Both played the same tees at 6,600 yards and she almost beat me and really should have. She hit it straight and I was well all over the place albeit 60 to 70 yards ahead of her when I hit driver. I closed the match out on 17 since we went through the stretch of the course that distance really was an asset if you found the fairway. On 15 I hit 8!iron for my second as opposed to her 5 wood which is a huge advantage.

I see the merits of the argument but had that been an LPGA pro I would have been toast and my index at the time was +2.4.

My point wasn't an arguement for Bones or any AM in the situation as much as for Brittany over Lydia on that specific course set up. Lydia is the better player on the average lpga course but what about from that setting. Certain courses favor certain players. There is a reason only 25% of the field really have a shot at Doral or anywhere like that. It favors the longer player. Its different than say Olympic club or Merion.

And thanks BTW. I still think it's an error lol

Interesting. Think the women are so much better at irons and short game than we give them credit. Sure they don't hit 330 yard bombs, but they make up for it in other ways. I'd love to see what would happen if a guy whose a 2-3 handicap did bet a LPGA member and watch the results. My guess is the woman would frustrate said guy by sticking irons close and scrambling after he outdrives her.
