Here's a quick recap:

Masters

Sergio Garcia finally gets off the schneide and wins his first major with a birdie on the playoff hole.

I'm going with Sergio's win at the Masters and only because I lived in Augusta for 13 years. Any of the majors could win the best of 2017 title as this year was pretty special.

I'd go with the consensus here too however there is nothing controversial about knowing the rules, double checking with an official and properly applying them. It's only controversial to someone who doesn't know the rules.

It's like saying a ground rule double is controversial in baseball.

2 way for first. PGA and Masters

3 The Open

4 US Open

If I had to pick a #1 I'm going with PGA. For 2 reasons:

1 It just happened

2 JT is a bluegrass native

I thought I might have a unique opinion on the rankings but I guess we spies all think alike. The PGA would've been the absolute winner IMO if Hideki or Kisner (or both) could've held it together to force a playoff.

Which, is honestly refreshing since the PGA is usually a dud.

My list:

1. The Open

2. Sergio

3. PGA

4. U.S. Open

I am a huge Jordan Spieth fan so that back 9 was some of the craziest I've ever gotten watching golf.

Watching Sergio finally get his major was pretty special.

The other two were less so but JT with the birdie on 17 was pretty cool.

I can't wait for next year already!

Oh man. That's right. They ran that one down hard. "His father is a PGA professional and his grandfather before him."

You know which one really makes me mad? When they're talking about Charl Scwartzel and just call him the son of a chicken farmer all day long. 1) that's bs that they're acting like he doesn't deserve to be playing with the elite due to his heritage 2) because chicken farming is extremely lucrative. I knew a kid in college that was a turkey farmer and he was loaded.

Probably hasn't come up in a while but it was all the rage right around the time he won the Masters. I'll never forget an interview with him the interviewer asked "How does the son of a chicken farmer win the Masters?" Like it was a Slumdog Millionaire situation and Charl made this face like he wanted to donkey kick the interviewer right in the teeth.

I think it's time for a change. I've grown tired of the Irish and English accents (no offense to those who are) and the smug speaking of the former players.(Jonny M). And breath some life back into the commentary.

1: PGA Championship

Pros: The course was hard... but you could get aggressive! There was a ton of movement at the top of the leaderboard and a good finish and the antics to get balls in play before the horn on Friday night was great! Most entertaining tournament for me by far.

Cons: Lightning

2: The US Open

Pros: It wasn't a traditional Open but the course was beautiful and the final day was exciting.

Cons: Lack of carnage, Joe Buck, the word, "fescue" being literally beaten to death.

3: The British Open

Pros: Jordan Speech putting on a clinic, wacky shots from the driving range, 37 different types of rain... on each day of the tournament.

Cons: Not the most competitive field, not my favorite Open course (by a wide margin).

4: The Masters

Pros: It's the Masters, pimento sandwiches, patrons, limited commercial breaks, great finish.

Cons: The course let me down this year. The rain defanged the greens. I live to see balls rolling back, 30 yards off a green and into the water. I dislike Sergio Garcia. No, "crazy" shots.

1) The Masters. By a mile. As a Sergio fan, this was ecstasy. I didn't watch much of the final round (I was working and our TV at Dick's didn't have local channels), but I got to listen on Sirius on the way home. I cheered like a maniac.

2) The Open. After playing golf that morning I got settled in. Incredible resolve by one of the game's great young champions, adding to his legend. A worthy follow-up to last year's duel between Phil and Henrik. Kinda felt bad for Kuchar though, hope he gets one before he's done.

3) The PGA. A great test of nerves and another first time winner. Not the most exciting weekend, but Sunday delivered the goods.

4) US Open. Of all of the majors this year, the one without a single real defining moment. Hell, even JT's 63 would later be topped by him this season in winning the PGA and Grace's 62 at the Open. Good on Koepka for winning, but in a year of awesome majors, this one was lacking that special something.

2. Masters

3. OPEN

4. US OPEN

I may have a little different take as I don't have any real "gotta have" favorite to win. Conversely I don't root against any player either.

I'm still struggling with Jason Day hitting driver, gap wedge on 18 at Whistling. That hole is brutal when you play at 440 from the green tees much less the 500 he was playing it at.

I would agree with those that picked the Masters and Sergio finally winning a major.   I would liken it to some day if Rickie can avoid the disaster holes and win a major.   The other three were entertaining in their on respects with their individual back stories.   Personally, I think we had some entertaining majors this year, if I may quote a rather famous golf statement "better than most".
