Twitter Follow Recommendations?

OK so you guys are linking some really awesome tweets. I've never had a reason to get Twitter but now I'm ready to get down.

 

Any recommendations for good follows? Doesn't have to be just golf. Can be other stuff too.

Or, here's a helpful hint.   Find someone who you think's taste are the same as yours, follow them.  Then you can click on the people they follow and see them all in  list, you can literaly scroll down a list of hundreds in a matter of minutes, clicking on the ones you want to follow.

 

You can do the same with say a Scott Van Pelt, click on the those that he follows (not his followers, then you'll get dopes like me showing up...ha)

 

You can also create lists, so that if say during march madness you only want to see tweets from everyone that is covering or reporting on the event, you can just view that list and have all the other tweets from your timeline not show.

I would warn a bit about blindly following people for a single topic in common (i.e. golf). I followed all the Cobra folks only to find after the challenge that some have some completely different interests than I such as being a Patriots fan. :barf:

 

I'm mostly joking about the Patriots thing (I still follow that guy), but politics is another big example. I mostly try to avoid politics on social media because it's counter productive, in my opinion.

Asking the real questions now lol. Here's a brief list of what I'm looking for:

 

1) Golf (duh) - Tour Players or instruction, but not so much from the major OEMs. I'm bombarded enough from them. Small OEMs are OK.

2) No politics

3) Comedians

4) One liners

5) Breaking news

6) "Did you know......"

7) Show hosts with great Twitter presence

8) People from obscure sports - bowling, darts, pool, etc

9) People who tell long/interesting stories

1) I'd recommend if you follow any YT golf pros, they have their own Twitter accounts. @RevolutionGolf is a good spot. A specific coach I like is @AndrewRiceGolf. For straight golf info @Adam_Sarson @NoLayingUp @the_fried_egg @GeoffShac and everyone's favorite golf twitter @EuropeanTour

 

2) Comedians, well if you have a favorite just search them and you'll likely find them on Twitter. And to add to your one-liners, I know there are bots that aggregate Steven Wright and Mitch Hedberg jokes for Twitter consumption

 

3) Breaking news, @CNN, @MSNBC, @NBCWorldNews, @FoxNews... whatever you slant or watching habits you can find it. I'd also recommend @AP and @Reuters as well. Perhaps follow your local paper if you want up to date news from your area.

 

4) Interesting facts, @WhatTheFFacts and @OMGFacts to start probably

 

5) Show Hosts, from the sports world I agree with @NotTheFakeSVP and I'd add @LeBatardShow for my personal taste. Most of the late night host show twitters are good, I do follow @ConanOBrien, however you may get some Trump or political jokes from time to time. Again, If you have favorite actors, writers, really any famous folk you can find them on Twitter

 

6) OBSCURE SPORTS! @JBelmo for bowling, @SkySportsDarts or @DartsBBCA for darts, @PoolandBillard for pool

 

7 and 8) I don't reign much in that space, perhaps someone else may be able to give a hand.

 

9) @Berg_Ryman, who will follow back, trust me, I know him.

If I follow someone I want to see everything they post not a filtered list. I really hate when I see something listed in the “in case you missed it” portion of the feed because most likely I did. I have almost stopped dealing with social media because of these algorithms thinking they know what I want to see. Too painful to keep on scrolling just in case there might be something interesting.

STUD, go to Content Preferences and remove the checkmark for Show Me the best Tweets first, that way you get continued rolling tweets. Also, if you want to play around with your notification filters that option exists as well where you can nick off the quality filter, set advanced filters, even block words.

Love him or hate him, Justin Thomas is a great follow. He's got a lot to say about a lot of things and even live-tweets his thoughts during events he's not in. Not many touring pros have that type of public interaction. Here's one of my favorites from the past weekend:

HULK SMASH GOLF BALLS AND HULK TALK IN ALL CAPS. Aside from the obvious schtick that comes from being a parody account, he's actually got some interesting things to say. On a golf Twitter with plenty of teaching pros talking about serious topics, it can be a refreshing break to see what Hulk has to think about it.
