Just a quick note of introduction. Been reading the forum and website for a while, decided to jump in.

 

I live on the coast of Georgia about 40 miles south of Savannah. My home course is the Sapelo Hammock Golf Club where I am also a part owner.

 

Play 120 rounds or more of golf a year and also take advantage of the good fishing nearby as well.

 

Was recently fitted for a set of Titleist AP3 irons and Vokey wedges and have been playing some of the best golf of my life. Replaced a set of TaylorMade PSi irons and could not be happier.

It really is a fun course. Be wary of hole 17 though. 180 yd par 3 over the marshes with very little room around the green. If there's a storm blowing in you might as well throw away your scorecard. Too low and it'll hit and run ob. Too high and the wind will put it out to sea. I still have nightmares about that hole.

 

And you guys should eat at huntets cafe. Its just a little local place but they have some killer food.

Sounds like 9. I believe they moved the boxes up. But it's 180-200 from the blues I believe. It's definitely a tough one.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

 

Sapelo Hammock is a beautiful course and you are right the par 3s defend the course, with three of the four having forced carry's of varying yardage. No. 17 is our Island green and depending on the wind and which tee boxes you choose it can be very tame or very wild. Number 9 from the tips does have an honest 230 yard carry to the fairway and again can be a real challenge depending on the wind. From the white tees though it is a short Par 5 that with a decent drive and second shot is very manageable.
