Robert Saleh brought great defensive intensity to the 49ers D. I was sad to see him go. He looks to have done the same with the Jets D.

Bears and Giants made too many mistakes also.  Holding the ball too long…mistake.  Missing an tackle…..mistake.   Failing to block someone…..mistake.  Etc. etc.  Everything when not executed correctly is a “mistake”.  Pathetic is just a shorter way to say they made too many mistakes.  Your first sentence is 6 words and your second would be 3.

Agree, but some credit to the Jets for forcing things. Have to say, I think the new preseason setup will be having a dramatic effect on week 1 and probably week 2 for the foreseeable future, there were a number of obvious instances of offenses just not being sharp and ready to go. Lots of chaos in lots of games this weekend. Not sure if that is good or bad from a viewer perspective LOL, but if it's your team doing that, it sure sucks...

Watching him, I think he was by far the best thing from last night, explosive and fast, although he did run out of gas on the run that should have been a TD, just got caught by the DB. Hopefully they feature him more.

You are sounding like Dave in a rules thread.   There is a huge difference in playing well, having a good team and making some big mistakes that cost you a game, and making mistakes constantly because you aren't playing well and don't have a good team.  One of the things my son said (among others) watching the Bears several years ago "Dad, good teams find a way to win and bad teams find a way to lose". Watching the Bills and Jets you know the Bills could have easily won that game. Watching the Giants/Bears you know they had absolutely no chance of winning their games. The difference between Allen and Fields is exponential. I am going on record saying when the Bears cut/trade Fields, he will never start for another team unless it is replacing a starting QB due to injury. He is not an NFL QB.

I don't watch much football anymore, but I will say karma is a dish well served to Rodgers. I was a raised Packer fan and the cancerous environment that Rodgers put on the team the last few years really rubbed me the wrong way.

... As Bears fan, nobody dislikes Rodgers more than us who always rubbed us the wrong way and a pretty classless winner. But I don't wish an injury on any player. Banged up and bruised? Sure thats football but not injuries and especially a season ending injury.

Absolutely! You'd rather a player be on the field and beat them than for them to be hurt and out.

Seeing players get hurt - like em or not - is brutal. These are real men with real lives and dependents and this is their livelihood.

... Nit picking here and we are probably on the same page, but after the first game everyone is hurt and rarely play at 100% for the rest of the season. Like Mahomes playing with a severe high ankle sprain in the playoffs. It's a brutal game. But injury is different and again, especially season ending injury.

It's swing for the fences mentality that will sink this team.

Among all the blowhard opinions I've heard since the final whistle, one point was the most salient.  When Brady was winning he did it by following a team concept and making plays that were there, not forcing the ball.  If you look back, Tom Brady doesn't have many "did you see that" highlight reels.  He just has a cadre of steady and consistent play.  I'm not reducing Tom to some systematic robot...rather, a player who had the EQ to manage a game and know when to say when.  Josh needs more of that.

... Yup, it was pretty savage and vicious in high school but college took it to a whole nuther level. To be honest, I can't really imagine how exponentially more savage and vicious it is at the NFL level. One of our starters in college that played at a big high school program and made it to the NFL told me college was 10 x more than high school in every way and the NFL was 100x more than college.

Yes, no matter how one feels about a player or team no one wants to see a season ending injury.

While injuries are part of the game they sure do take away from the game. The NFL adding games is not helping safety.
