Hot weather golf shoes

Recommended Posts

I own a pair of Adidas Tour 360 spikeless (based on MGS most wanted https://mygolfspy.com/best-spikeless-shoe-of-2019/) and absolutely love them. But I am looking for a more breathable shoe for hotter, dryer rounds (for example, a golf trip in August with 108 holes in 3 days - yikes!). If I could buy a breathable Adidas built on the same last as the Tour 360 I would in a heartbeat. I take a 11.5 Wide and often have a terrible time finding shoes that feel comfortable out of the box.

Any recommendations? I already have a pair of Truelinks Knits that I wear just as a regular shoe because I find them pretty sloppy in terms of stability. Based on my success with MGS's last recommendation I am tempted to try the Puma Grip Fusion Sport, but they don't have wide sizes. Any experience with these?

I've been using the Puma Grip Fusion sport for about a year now. I'm in Arizona so definitely a good place to put them through their paces.

I switched from the Adidas 360 Traxion and they are way more comfy. I will say that they're probably the most comfortable, breathable, and best performing golf shoes within that price point that I've ever owned.

I've used them through the winter too and in slightly wet grass and no issues whatsoever with moisture getting in.

I do have slightly narrow feet and these fit me perfectly. I even wear them slightly loose and just slip my feet into them without tying them up and never have any issues with slippage or support.

Highly highly recommend!

the more I practice, the luckier I seem to get..

I've been wearing a pair of Adidas Tour 360 Primeknit XT for a few weeks. They're spiked, but may be just what you're looking for. I have a pair of leather Tour 360 which are pretty broken down now in 11W. Great shoes, but heavy. The shop I bought the Primeknit version from didn't have a wide option, so I tried 11.5R and they fit better than my other pair.

Very comfortable to walk in, lightweight, but definitely not the shoes you want to wear on an early morning round when there's a lot of dew and rough cutting going on. Unless, of course, you like pruned feet and/or only hit fairways.

The sole on those prime knits looks very similar to the boost. Maybe it is worth a try for the 12R (I own 11.5W). Thanks for the tip.

I wear a size 13 shoe, and have very narrow (AA) and flat feet. I am notoriously hard to fit for shoes. Can not

remember ever finding a pair of Nike, Adidas, or Foot Joy that I could wear. The only golf shoe Ive found that fits me is Sketchers.

I have two pair, one waterproof for winter, wet weather, and one fabric breathable shoe for hot dry weather. And it gets hot as hell here in the summer.

Dont have model names here with me now, but I found at a local golf store. If you need I can get the model names.

Update: After ~ six weeks of walking/playing these shoes blew out (see attached).

I bought them online, on sale, but returned them to a Golf Galaxy store yesterday. I looked at several of the other lighter weight offerings. Puma Ignite felt flat underfoot and the Adidas Codechaos don't have spikes, so I went for another pair of Tour 360 Primeknit. I'm hoping these last longer.

I wear the Adidas Adipower 4orged S shoe in the summer and really like it.  Most comfortable shoes I have.

It gets pretty hot in NC in mid-summer and my feet are comfortable.

That is too bad, but good they replaced and pretty telling you were willing to give the shoes another go.

How do you find the lateral stability with the knit material?

In terms of stability, they're good. I don't generally swing out of my shoes, but I do tend to stretch/stress the outside of my left shoes (leather upper Tour 360 & FJ Dryjoy)  during my finish, which is where these busted. I think I saw DJ wearing a primeknit shoe last year, and I'd imagine if they're stable enough for him, they would be for the average golfer. Then again, he probably replaces his shoes every few rounds, so he wouldn't break them down over time.

I'll see how this second pair holds up, and report back.

Same here re: the knits. Not sure there's any way around it but they're a spectacular shoe (just not great for golf). Have you looked at the TM Curator? Those are supposed to be pretty light weight

I think they are Skechers GoLo? It says ‘quick fit’ above the heel. No other model number or name on the shoe. I bought two years ago, so that exact model may not be available, but I know they still make breathable models. Mine are very comfortable.

Man, it’s hot down here, and I haven’t noticed a single shoe that’s “cooler” than another in 100* heat. Would a solid black leather shoe be hotter on the foot? Probably, but it’s not like I notice and say, “Hey! My feet are REALLY cool today!” Fabric shoes just give me the sense of less support, and being lighter. Maybe my feet sweat less in my all black Pumas, but they still sweat!

Well, I'm sorry to say they did not last longer (see below). It seemed like DJ was sporting a pair this weekend at the Traveler's, but they were unblemished to the degree I wonder if he wears them more than once. Certainly not long enough for the foam to completely break down.

I went with the CodeChaos this time. They've lasted three weeks, so here's hoping.

Socks will be as important as the shoe. Kentwool, bombas and stance imo do a great job at helping. I wore stance socks with some adidas powerboost this weekend in hot and humid weather with no issues. I’ve worn the stance with my jordans as well and no issues.

Thats crazy, my impression was that the issue with boost is that over the course of a year or 2 of continuous wear, people could feel it start to "bottom out" when they walked. I am shocked to see that the actual midsole is breaking down. How long did that take?

Haven't tried "custom shoes", however I did go to an Ecco Store (not retail box store like Golf Galaxy or PGA Store) and got fitted for Ecco's. Manager at Ecco Store was extremely helpful. I looked for comfort, stability in shoe and ease on back. Figured if Ecco's are good enough for Freddy Couples lower back, then it was worth a try. My podiatrist also advised against soft mesh shoes, but something firm. Went with Ecco Biom Hybrid 2 spikeless and I put my own inserts in shoes

@Flip4000 for the first pair, about two months. The second was less than that. I walk about 3-4 rounds per week, but still, it's not like we're talking about a kleenex or a take out coffee cup.
