Popular Post Golfspy_CG2
One of the most anticipated irons of this year was Cobra's release of the 2022 Forged Tec line, which expanded to included the Forged Tec X model. Read about them Here in My Golf Spy's First Look piece. These irons are stunning looking and in the case of the Forged Tec X are packed with enough help for the player that handicaps from scratch to 20 can probably play them. Cobra is going to give one lucky Forum Member a chance to win a set of their choice, you will be able to choose between Forged Tec Forged Tec X Entering will require a little research and work on your end, but it's well worth it to get a chance to put these in your bag. GolfSpy SAM
@Golfspy_CG2 - On the linked page is the "one length" option, but I don't see that as an option in the main post - just wanted to clarify if that was something they'd be willing to do, or if it's strictly the Tec/Tec-X options. Amazing giveaway! I have been DYING to get my hands on a one-length set, and the minute I saw this hit the market, they've been on my must-try list. I'm currently in GI irons, and as my game has improved (handicap from 20+ to 12.4), currently and have been looking to make the move to a players distance set-up, and this just checks every box. I chose the steel-fiber because I've had some minor joint issues, and as I'm now in my mid-40s, it's only going to get harder to keep swinging steel around. As for the grips, I have a ShotScope setup, so no need for the Arcos gear. Matt - Santa Clarita, California TaylorMade Sim Max (2020) 12.4 And like you could STOP me from posting on the forums, lol. This has become my happy-place. Assuming one-length are an option, here's my dreamy set-up. If not, I'm happy to amend to a different set-up. Mr. Mushball
I picked this model for two main reasons. One is that the lofts are most similar to my current set, though they are still a bit different at the shorter end. For instance, my PW is a 43.5, and have an AW at 46. But, I think this is workable. Also, the length composition is more my current playing style, nothing longer than a 6-iron in my bag ATM. Second reason is that it has a lighter swing weight, whereas the Forged Tec has the same weight as my current clubs. Why would I change? The last fitting I went to they recommended a D1 club, so think I may end up benefiting from a lighter swing weight. Going to another fitting with a different brand later this week, I may ammend my thoughts after the fact... Morgan/Portland, OR In the bag are Wilson Staff Di9 6-PW. Current handicap is 38, down from 42.3 last week. These clubs may be a bit out of my handicap target group, but think that I'm heading for mid 20's soon. I generally play well with my Irons and hit them solidly most of the time. Maybe all of this new technology could help gain a bit more distance and let me know what the club is doing better, therefore allowing me to find new play options. I would be thrilled to talk about my experience. Isn't that why we are all here? To learn from others and share our successes so that others may benefit is why I am here. mynerds, Vegan_Golfer_PNW, MyWifesSwingCoach and 1 other 4 Quote Driver - GEN5 0311FX 9°+1.5° - ProjectX Cypher 40 5.5 trimmed to 44" Wood - GEN5 0311FX 4-wood flat - ProjectX Cypher 50 5.5 Hybrid - 0211 22° flat - ProjectX Cypher 50 5.5 Irons - 4-PW New Level 480-DB with Nippon Steel Modus Tour 105 shafts -- Currently in play test, follow along! MyWifesSwingCoach
Thank you Cobra and Thank you MyGolfSpy for this opportunity! Good luck to all who apply! I chose the Cobra Forged Tec model because first off, it's a very attractive design to my eye. The thinner top line and reduced offset are something that I very much prefer. Contrary to what my handicap suggests ball striking is one of my strong suits and the emphasis of that for this model is exactly what I am looking for to increase distance and playability i.e. shot shaping. In addition to that the material and technology in these irons would be very interesting to compare with my now ~15 year old irons and from what I could tell would be a great fit for me. doctorgriffo
Explain why you chose the model you did and what you'd hope to get out of them performance wise: I hit a forged tec 7 iron against others in this category, and the flight and distance control seemed great. Popular Post GolfSpy_SHARK
Well this is legit as hell, I am sure some serious hard work went into getting this oppurtunity so thank you to all those involved: I would go with this setup minus the shafts, I would swap that out for True Temper Dynamic Golf 120's but they currently look unavailable. 1) Explain why you chose the model you did and what you'd hope to get out of them performance wise I chose the forged tec's, I love the players distance catergory of clubs. These things a sleek and the times I have swung them they are fabulous. I am looking for a little bit better feel in a club. I feel like my current gamers even when I flush one doesn't feel flush. I was lucky to play a round with the OG Forged Tec's and I should have taken them from the guy! (we all know that guy) 2) List your first name/city state (US Only entries) Mark/Massachusetts 3) What current irons you're playing Taylormade P790 4-GW 4) Handicap 5.9 5) Will you agree to participate (I fixed this for you @Golfspy_CG2) in discussions on the forum about your experience with irons after receiving them Silly question, of course! I love the review process. Its a fun interaction beginning to end and clearly is a huge draw for so many folks cksurfdude, gavinski91, MyWifesSwingCoach and 7 others 7 3 Quote Check out my reviews: G710 Irons Official Review I MC Shaft & V Series Putter Official Review 2022 Forged Tec's Official Review I Nitron Push Cart Official Review WITB: Weapons of grass destruction (link to WITB) Traverse is filled with all this shiny metal and tracked by RadSpeed 8* - MotoreX F1 6X SIM 3W - Project X HZRDUS Green U505 Driving Iron 17* - Project X HZRDUS Black SpeedZone 4H - Project X HZRDUS Black 2022 King Forged Tec's 4-PW - KBS $ Tape 130 48 (SM8), 52 & 60 (SM7) - Nippon Modus 125 S ER2VI PROV1X #19 Are you a veteran? azstu324
MGS and Cobra you guys rock our world year after year! This is pretty damn sweet! My choice Forged Tec Specs/Details Explain why you chose the model you did and what you'd hope to get out of them performance wise: I chose the King Forged Tec simply because for the past 3 years I've been stuck between player's distance and player's true blades. I've come to appreciate and love what both worlds have to offer, but now that I'm playing some no nonsense blades, I really miss what I loved about the distance sticks. And no it's actually not the distance.. Ultimately that small bit of forgiveness on days when all of my swing stars just aren't aligned, is something that I don't know if I can live without. Being a Cobra fan boy and unofficial Puma ambassador, quite honestly I've been very much anticipating a review of the Forged Tec's as 2022 was set to be the year of new irons for me and the Forged Tec's are very high on my radar as they just check all of the boxes of what I love from both player's distance and blades. Additionally, I have a goal to get to a sub 4 index by the end of 2023 and I really feel that a player's distance set and more specifically a set like the Forged Tec's will play a big part in achieving that goal. HELL YES! We would all be remiss to see this as a "giveaway" and not expect due diligence in providing a full review and Q&A to follow. Besides the driver and wedges, it's not too difficult to see that my bag is really missing a nice set of Cobra irons mynerds, MyWifesSwingCoach and cksurfdude 3 Quote PXG 0311 Gen 5 9°/ Fujikura MotoreX F1 6X F6 3 Wood 14* / Kuro Kage Silver 65X F8 6 wood 20* / Fujikura MotoreX F3 6S RADSpeed Hybrid 24* TS1 4-GW / FCM Precision 6.5 Rifle TSW Wedge - 56/12 EAS 1.0 / Grip master 2.0 MAXFLI Tour CG
