Today is a mixed day. On the one had, I made it through another year. On the other, it’s the big 5-0. I think we all have an idea what that means, and the emotions/reflection involved.

I’m many ways, I’ve had a blessed life. Lived in many wonderful places. Worked for some great companies. Made enough money to have nice homes, nice cars, and set up my retirement for that hopeful early exit around 62. Not to mention played plenty of golf over the past 35 years (and go to the MGS Forum trip in a few weeks).

But it’s also been a bit of a lonely existence. Never married, no kids, just my parents, sister, and nephews. Up until now, they’ve always been far away based on where I was working/living. Luckily, I live 4.8 miles from my folks now, and about a 4.5 hr drive from my sister and nephews. So I’m trying to take advantage of being closer to family, but it’s still a lonely life. But that’s just how it is, I guess. I still have hope, but admittedly that hope has begun to fade a little.

Ultimately, it’s just another day. I’ll make it through as I usually do, although there will be cookies today.

Nice read, Josh. Ready play is definitely encouraged/mandatory in Scotland, even in tournaments. They think you're dawdling if you take 3:30 to play a round. Fortunately I like to play fast so their preference is okay with me, but some of the courses around here... haven't discovered ready play.

Good morning everyone! 

It's a nicer morning here than yesterday and I'm just drinking coffee getting ready for another day at work. 

I get my car back today and it'll be nice not to have to take my wife's car away from her every morning, although I'll miss the comfort of her SUV. 

It's getting closer to the forum meetup and I'm getting excited for it, it's going to be fun getting to meet and play golf with a bunch of you.

Good morning all. After a day of constant rain yesterday today is a beautiful sunny day with temperatures around 22 degrees so pleasantly warm. Unfortunately today is the start of 6 duty days so rather limited for golf opportunities. I’m hoping to find the time to get on the putting green and assess different weight positions on the Runner.

@sirchunksalot glad the car is coming back. Let’s hope you can get the costs back from the fuel station

Good morning MGSpies from a not so dark downtown Buffalo parking spot by the office building where sunlight is enhancing the still glowing colorful lights on the buildings Stick Figure's Fall into the Sun on Pandora with it's reggae beat reminding me of last night's open mic and the full rocking set we played to a full club, heady stuff when it's just for fun.  Golf course wasn't as much fun with more golfers than I've seen this year so far and I could only count the 4 groups stacked pretty close in front of us. Impressive though was how everyone seemed to know when they could play without hitting into the group ahead.  Smoke didn't gather it's and I know it was me so next opportunity comes this afternoon on the way home from work.  Hope golf is a part of your day

Good morning spies from the point of wishing that there was a short break between thunderstorms. Dogs are trying to time it so that they can get outside but as soon as they see the rain coming down they back away from the door. I’m doing my best to help out by watching the radar trying to find them a gap which should be here in 15-20 minutes. They are sitting at the door and staring out the window while I imagine that they are wondering if it will ever stop at this point.

All this rain is messing with my golf schedule something fierce. It seems that every afternoon that I have free time it’s raining. Might be going through golf withdrawals

Good morning all!

As expected a beautiful day with enough work to keep my very busy unfortunately. Was able to go for a nice family bike ride at lunch though which was great. Our middle one, was on a little 14 inch bike pedaling as fast as she could was impressive. Trying to get her on the next size up bike and then she will be really flying.

Another beautiful day on tap full of more work. Hopefully can get outside for a bit later today.

Good morning Spies on this partly cloudy and cool Tuesday morning here in the Motor City.

@sirchunksalot Jason, best of luck with getting your vehicle back, and recouping the out-of-pocket expenses you have from those responsible.

Really wasn't anything you did which caused the poor fuel to be put into the tank.

Rain and storms moving in later this afternoon and supposed to last through the night. Hoping that the forecast for tomorrow being sunny and warm is correct, as that is the expected delivery date for my Motocaddy to arrive.

Spent most of yesterday playing around in the garage, on both golf clubs, and cars, and then helped a "new to me" neighbor out when he had a vehicle stored which would not start after winter hibernation.

"New to me" only from the fact that he may have lived here for a while, but my work schedule never allowed any prior interactions.

May try to get some range time in later today, made some shaft length and swingweight changes to driver and fairway woods. Shorter shafts, more back to traditional lengths than the newer club specs.

Save me from gripping down to ensure center contact.

Lastly, huge congratulations to the testers selected for the Stix and Vokey testing here.  Looking forward to the comments and reviews.

Hope your day is the best it can be, and that something enjoyable is in your plans.

Good morning everyone. Another dreary morning after storms all night. On the upside, courses are greening up nicely and the greens are recovering quickly from being aerated. Now I just need some time to get out and enjoy it. Last busy week on my schedule and then I’ll get to enjoy my afternoons after work. Hope everyone has a great day ahead.

Good Morning Golfers!! Actually sunny and bright here .. but today only...

Better get my golf time in. Tinkered with a spot of lead tape on the driver and some strips on the irons. Have a basic balance beam swing weight scale and yeah those were all lighter than I'd thought.

Got new grips on everything recently, and had the irons lofts & lies checked, so .. yep .. no excuses on the equipment side! 

Just need a little more work on that fuzzy grey area between the ears

Good morning spies! I had an unbelievably busy day yesterday which totaled 7 miles walked and nearly 16,000 steps. All I can say is that these kids are starting to smell the summer time. I'll have to say, I'm right there with them. 18 days of school left is all we have left and I think every student and teacher are counting down.

No golf forecasted for me today, however, I am going tomorrow and this weekend. I've been playing pet well lately, so I'm hoping that continues. Got the lucky ones that get to play today, score well and hit em straight!

Good morning, fellow golfers,

How did everyone play this weekend? I shot a +17, which is a little higher than normal, but our buddy wanted to play from the blues. This made a narrow course much harder and longer. For many of my tee shots, I felt the need to really step into my drives and started over-swinging. 

I will say that I am still looking for my perfect ball. Maybe it is a lifelong quest, but I haven't found the right ball for me yet.

Also same lol I moved back a box for golf league this year and the results have been.... a struggle so far.  I think im trying to hard to keep up with my group thats been spotted a 35-50yd advantage lol.  Its not the added yardage that is hurting me really.  White tees on this course are 5800ish yds, and the blues is like 6050yds.  The course is narrow though.

What are you lookin for in a new ball to try?

Hoping that is true as my Darkspeed X is set to arrive today and I would love to get on the range/course this evening for a few holes with my boys to test it out. Good morning MGS Nation! Yet another dreary start to the day here in Maryland: moderate fog and the humidity is through the roof!

Nice hot cup of Pomegranate Mojito with a dollop of honey hitting the spot and helping to push away some of the gloom. Going home at lunch today and depending upon the current weather, will work putting on the (hopefully) new putting mat that should be in today or back out to the home range for some driver work. Last night I was thinking, how can I practice putting while waiting for the practice mat to show up. Then, a brainstorm. I moved a piece of furniture from an area rug, and 'lo and behold! A divot in the carpet: PERFECT for a hole! So, while waiting for the practice matt to arrive, I  at least have that to work with! Pictures to follow... 

Nothing else happening here except work, can't wait to get the DF3 out on the course for league play tomorrow! I hope everyone has an incredible Tuesday and that golf figures in to your plans! Hit 'em straight MGS Nation! 🏌

Good morning Spies. Was up early to get to the gym and take the youngest to school. Day 2 of working out with a weight vest in the books and all I can say is I am old and out of shape. I have not been this sore in years but my wife tells me it is good for me….or she is trying to kill me.  Now off to the office for the day and maybe a range session tonight when the work day ends.

While a great read… Some of ready golf seems to much like a work protocol. I play to have fun. Although I will readily admit that recently my game has been more like torture.

Today has already started off great b/c I was chosen for the Vokey testing. It’s an honor and privilege. Today I am going to the HQ for some IT work and then hitting the PennState courses with a couple friends.

I feel your pain.  I do my spin bike and Bowflex in the winter, but don't run in cold weather.  My first few runs this year have me realizing that I am, in fact, old, and need to focus more on how long I'm running for, not how far or fast I'm running.  

You lost me at the weight vest though.  I guess I do hiking wearing a pack with the scouts, but I don't go looking for more joint stress anymore.

You want sun and heat… come with me. Headed back to the Cartel sanctuary ( a.k.a. Texas-Mexican border ) Supposedly temperatures will be at or break 100° the next couple of days. Hoping the drive doesn’t get to the hands and wrists to much… Looking forward to using them in “ mentoring “ the  youngsters on the work site. @Northern Monkey I’ll report back my success or lack of success, in a day or so. 
    @Josh Parker’s article was an interesting read and gave cause to ponder some things. At the risk of coming across as an entitled privileged old fart.. Seems that these ready golf protocols are like work protocols… those along with basic common sense seem to maybe come into   play more on public courses where golfers are at times put on a conveyer belt of tee times. The Ancient Agers play a round on either side of 4 hours and pretty much play old school style with lots of time looking for lost balls and trash talking at all times. 
     Here is to hoping that this day is totally yours in the making and the outcome.
