I was nervous here too but only really thin layer of clouds so we could see it all. It was awesome and then with the thin clouds we got a rainbow in the clouds in a ring around the sun. Was worth the trip!

We were obscured in B-ville. Saw some of it through the occasional break in the clouds. The total darkness was cool though.

We had about 75% coverage here and couldn't find eclipse glasses. Purely by accident while running an errand, I discovered that the tinted air scoop on my Honda's moonroof served the same purpose and I was able to look through the moonroof and the air scoop and see the eclipse.

I meant to get back and respond to my own post haha looks like CNY had its typical grey weather all around. 

I agree the temperature drop and sudden darkness was really cool. I got a couple pics but overall it was a “had to see it moment” itll be one of those stories we can tell for years to come.

We were not in the path of the eclipse; just a very little bit of dimming.  My wife and I were on the golf course; sun was shining bright, not a cloud ion the sky.  Suddenly the sunlight dimmed for just a second.  My wife said was that the eclipse?  Looked up… two geese flew overhead.

@jbern @Josh Parker thanks for the photos of the eclipse, those all look phenomenal! 

It's looking like it's going to be a bit of a rainy day here later on. Right now it's still dry so I'm enjoying a cup of coffee before heading in to work. 

I talked to my sister last night and she's holding up pretty good. She's still a bit sore, but she is keeping in good spirits. She says she's seen the path report and read of some things to me and it sounds positive. She'll find out for sure Thursday.

Looks like North America had a beautiful eclipse day.

It’s been a difficult week or so. My wife became ill with something that affected all of her joints at once painfully. Sleeping became a nightmare. Blood tests came up negative, and our best hope is that it’s from a virus, possibly Parvovirus B19—one of the grandkids had it recently—and her condition is temporary. I might have caught it as well, but my symptoms lasted for a day. For women, it can last for weeks.

Oh, the inequity. 

On a brighter note, the sun came out over the weekend, and our youthful apple trees waking up.

Good morning MGSpies from a dark post Total Solar Eclipse downtown Buffalo outside the building on a workday in the office Tuesday enjoying my coffee and Davol's Lucky Day on Pandora soaking in the good vibes before the day gets rolling.  Yes true to WNY weather, clear skies dominated the day and hour after the eclipse with this as the best glimpse after totality.  

Niece 6 miles south had a great view so location was everything.

Hoping for golf after the workday with forecast high in the 70s, and hope golf is a part of your day

@Josh Parker and @jbern thanks for sharing the great photos. 

@berkeleybob hope your wife gets better soon, and all resumes back to normal there.

I did see it get dark, like dusk here, and the temperature dropped about 6 or 7 degrees for a bit, and then it was back to daylight and warmth when it all ended.

We used a piece of cardboard with pinholes in it, held over your shoulder and projected onto another piece of carboard and was able to see the eclipse that way.

Hope that your day is the best it can be, and that something enjoyable is in your plans. 

Putting practice for me after work is in my plans.

Loving all the eclipse stories. We were not able to get many great pictures but @jbern nailed it. Thanks for sharing. @berkeleybob I hope your wife feels better soon.

The drive home from the solar eclipse was something else. Winding through VT back roads bumper to bumper with a bunch of people from Mass and CT was wild. I am not sure those drivers knew those roads existed until their GPS said it was the fastest way given the traffic. We only had about an extra 30 minutes added to the commute so not too bad.

Now back to work with some issues that need sorting out quickly given some reporting is off. Ah the fun of transitioning IT systems.

Good Tuesday morning spies. Should see mid 60s again this afternoon which I am undeniably looking forward to. No golf though since my daughter has another soccer game tonight. They won 1-0 last night on the road so hopefully they’re getting some momentum going for tonight’s home game.

@berkeleybob I hope that your wife gets to feeling better soon.

@sirchunksalot Glad to hear that your sister is healing well. Great attitude goes a long way with recovery.

Was fun! 2 over 6 hole round. Had a Birdie and a few bogeys. Was enjoyable and swing felt pretty darn good.

Good morning all, well I might actually get to golf today. It's supposed to be around 70 this afternoon,  we have a 1pm tee time. I got my bridgestone mindset golf balls but this course I was told was super wet on Sunday so if it is still wet I might not use them just in case they might plug in the fairways. Well the eclipse was…the eclipse. Here in Virginia it got a little not quite as bright but we didn’t have total darkness. 
 

@sirchunksalot that’s good to hear about your sister. Hope Thursday even better news come. 
 

It’s going to be a nice day today, and if you don’t mind the amount of pollen floating through the air here, golf is great this time of year. Anyway, it’s off to work and drink some coffee. Hopefully I can get out to the range after work. Got some playing lined up this weekend at a course I’ve not played. But I’m going to go up and play it since I will be in a scramble on that course next month. Need to see what I’ll be dealing with there. Hope everyone has a great day.

A fine good morning to all on a lovely spring Tuesday morning. Solar eclipse was spectacular, it’s Masters week, espresso is delicious and I’m playing my first round tomorrow, so it’s shaping up to be a great week.

Good morning, everyone!

Although I was about 120 miles North of the edge of the totality yesterday, I'm still going to blame this on the eclipse.  Eating dinner last night I went to put the cap back on a bottle of steak sauce but it wouldn't fit.  I probably tried for a full minute -- cleaned the top of the bottle, pushed the inside of the bottle cap, used more muscle -- still couldn't get it to fit properly.  Finally gave up, placed bottle and cap back on the table rather heavily, and sighed deeply.  Only then did I realize I had been trying to put the cap from my water bottle on the steak sauce bottle.  My wife, who was watching silently the whole the whole time, was shaking so hard to keep her laughing inside.  She finally let the laugh go but then had to excuse herself from the table because, well, you know.

On the golfing front, I'm working on finding a more natural putting stoke.  The last few years I've been kind of choking the club to force a straight-back/straight-through stroke.  Functional but requires a lot of effort.  Trying to be lighter and let the putter head arc if it wants.  Feels good on long putts but everything inside 3' is getting pushed to the right.  Greens still haven't been mowed yet here (groundskeeper said that would start today) so maybe it is just shaggy grass and tons of worm casting.  We'll see.
