This will definitely destroy my course handicap now!   Highlight of round was hitting flag from 170 on one of my stroke holes, leaving 3 ft for a net eagle.  Also had a chip in bird on another hole, making it a nice day indeed

This is one of my Home courses here in the Sun City Grand. It took awhile to get use to the green again. I will playing it again on Wednesday and Friday. Hope to have a better round then. Our rough is coming back from the dormant state. Overall the condition of the course is great. Looking forward to the spring golf in Arizona.

Just having 2 or 3 bad holes which have been killing rounds. I know I am close and feel that the game is there. Iron play needs a lot of work. Going to likely take some time away form the course and just do some range work for the next week and see if that has any help. Ugh.

After a week in Upstate New York visiting family, I was excited to get back to golf.   Especially since today was the last day for one of my standard Tuesday foursome is a snow bird and is migrating back North.  It started with great promise and was ended ceremonially with three hours of rain!  It was the first substantial rain we've had in the last six months!  Hopefully, Thursday I'll get an opportunity to post a score.

Well, the Judge kicked my butt today! Felt I was striking the ball well, just didn't score well as there is plenty of trouble to get into on this course. Tomorrow we move up to Birmingham and take on Oxmoor Valley and their 2 courses. Hopefully the weather will hold out and not rain us out.

I had a Scotty Cameron 1997 Big Sur Broomstick Putter with the 2 piece shaft that kept breaking. I sent it back once, and they replaced shaft, but it was a poor design and soon was messed up again. 10 years ago, I put a shorter thicker shaft on it and modified the lie angle and used it most of the time. Then I decided I wanted a black shaft and ruined it. Last night,  I decided to change it back.

Today, after draining putt after putt in my office, it worked out that I had time so I thought I’d go play a few holes before the rain came. It never came. I took a different driver also. SIM2 9° turned down to. 7° on the Hzrdus Red Smoke RDX shaft. No warm up, just teed it up and gave it a wack. First few holes I hit long high fades. Didn’t hit any greens. Got up and down for pars except the par 3 fourth hole that I lipped out. Through 7 holes I was 3 over gross but just 1 over net.
I missed the 8th fairway and had to draw a hybrid around the trees but rolled inches from the hole and 10’ passed it but off the green. Putted from off the green, so it counts as a chip vs a putt, but drained it for birdie net eagle. So I finished the front 9 with a 38 net 33. With 11 putts.

Then the irons heated up. Birdies on 10 and 11. Got up and down for par/birdie on 12 and 13. A birdie/eagle on 14. I left my approach short on 15 from 136 yards after hitting a fabulous drive, pitched it roll within inches to 4’ for a par/birdie putt, but missed and made 5/4. Had a birdie putt from 8’ on 16 but, for the first time today, I left it short but just a foot. Up and down for par on 17. Poor drive on 18, lay up and pitch to 8’ on 18, but missed that putt for a bogey/par.

So 9/14 fairways and just 5/18 greens. Wedges were very good, mainly because the grass is very good, finally. Putter was off the charts. 23 putts. (24 if you count the one off the green on 8. However, I putted from off the green 7 other times.) I used the putter 31 times but since I was not on the green, and could have used a wedge or another club, it technically wasn’t a putt.

Wow shooting 73 while only hitting 5 greens shows a very strong short game. The 23 putts speaks for itself. Well done!

Thanks. It also helped that there were no drawbacks for missing. No bets today. But I don’t think it made any difference. I missed just 6 putts. 5 of those were even with or just passed the hole. Only the birdie on 16 was short.

Also, the rough was freshly mowed. There’s a tournament this weekend so they will let it get higher. The wind was like 5-7 mph for the first 14 holes. But the putter was just point and shoot.

First time I’ve ever played here. Interesting course, nice clubhouse. Worth playing if you’re in the DFW Metroplex.

Great courses and a great town as well. I’ve only played the Judge there, but WHAT a place. Little bit jealous, not gonna lie.

It's supposed to be stellar outside through the weekend.  Only day that stinks is the day I get on a plane, so I'm good.

Hope the weather holds up, have another round on Sunday at the usual venue.  Let's see if I can get 102 again, but with a partner so I can tack it to my handicap card.

Scrappy round, only 28% FH but managed 50% GIR. Driver was spinning like crazy, which left me with longer shots into greens then I like, so feel really good about GIR %. Put a Srixon ZH45 19 degree/3 hybrid in the bag for the last couple rounds and it is quickly becoming my fairway finder. Really draw biased which counteracts my slicing tendency. Excited to continue playing with it and pull it more on the rounds where the driver just isn't doing it.

Well..... Oxmoor Valley Ridge kicked my butt today with some cold rain for a bit. Tomorrow is another day and we'll be playing the Valley course at Oxmoor Valley. I'll try to remember to take some pics as there is plenty of beauty at these courses. Then we're off to Gadsden and Silver Lakes.
