Thinking about new wedges next year, and when Mizuno announced the T24 I thought that would be the way to go.

But then I saw the new Ping S159, and I think that's the new leader.

If you were going to get new wedges next year, what would be your first choice right now as it stands - one of the new offerings? Or stick with a Vokey, MG4, or something else already released?

If I were getting new wedges I’d get the TM wedges.   Next option would be Cleveland.  Just like the feel and performance

I have played forged "players" wedges for my entire golf career (35+ years) and I think it might be time to look for a more "forgiving" wedge going forward. At least for a little bit.

I really like the look of the Mizuno S23's. They look way better than the E21's and have plenty of that forgiveness I want.

The others would be the Ping Glide 4.0. Not the Pro's though.

I might look at going back to Vokey since they're not fully forged wedges, but it would probably be Sm8's.

What’s the difference in the s159 and glide series wedges? I love my glide wedge.

Sounds like the S159 is the replacement for the glide series. Going back to a bit more of a traditional shape. Definitely a cleaner look too.

I hit the new Mizunos and loved the feel but they were a tad light for my liking. Not saying no but wanting to wait for the new kids to come in before I make my decision!

Do we have any idea what the updates will be for the ping wedge other than shape? They already have the top-of-the-line face and grooves according to testing.

I assume Vokey will update their faces to keep up with everyone and Cleveland will add a new tech to their maxed out wedge.

All I can think of is more grinds or updated weighting (COG)

Don't know of any particular upgrades for the new Ping wedge. From what I understand they are moving away from having 2 wedge lines (ie. Glide 4.0 and Glide Forged Pro) to just having the single line.

Myself, I don't see the technology bump on wedges myself, there's only so much you can do with a wedge, I play TM MG 2's  pick new ones up cheap and they perform great. Great wedges and pricing I can replace every year, they're gonna run out and I'll move on to the MG3's soon but so far so good.

I'm really considering the S159 as a replacement for my SM8 50* and depending on how that works, they may end up replacing the SM9 54 and 60 in my bag.  The 50 is going on 3 years and needs to be retired and I really love the address photos of the new models...PING really did a nice job with their designs for this season.

Yeah, I think the only wedge technology bump lately has been the hydropearl finish (different brands call it different things) that keeps spin up in wet conditions. Other than that it's replace when the grooves wear out, and find something that looks good to you at address (which of course is a totally personal thing).

Getting close to s159 pre order and release date. Looks like 2/13/24 pre orders open.

would love to pre order but also would like to see the new wedge grinds first. Thinking 52s, 56s, and 60h… but might hold off on the 52/56 as my glide 3.0 are still in good condition.
